Andre Carter is improved

D'Pablo

Alot of these issues being discussed should of been discretly dealt with through the use of PM's or Email... Bottom line is its really unfair.

Man.

Seriously.

All of you.

Lighten the hell up.

'Its not faaaaaaaiiirrr. Waaaaaah.'

Hey - if I had it to over again, I'd have resisted the urge to have a little fun with Diablo.....I mean D'Pablo, because he plainly just can't take having a little fun poked his way. It wasn't mean-spirited - it was ribbing. He can't rationally take offense, having posted the damn thread in the first place. You can't have it both ways.

And I'll point out - its not the staff that's primarily pummelled this guy for a gazillion posts. Its a jury of his peers. They thought his thread sucked.

Lifes a *****. I've been pummelled for a thread I've started. It happens. When it does, best thing to do is man up, and get over it.

And that'd be my advice.

Question:

Have you ever said something that you had to apologize for later? And if so how long did it take for you to realize that you was wrong for saying it?

Ill be back after Prison Break and Heroes. :)

I'll use an ES example. During a game later in the season last year Ade Jimoh was hit and went down. At the time it looked to me like he was about to get back up and just got the wind knocked out of him. He had been penalized for taunting earlier so in the official game thread I jokingly wrote "Is Ade taunting the grass?" since he was facedown. Several people ripped into me (rightfully so). Once it became apparent that it could be a serious injury I immediately posted an apology, said it was the wrong thing to say, and that at the time I didn't think it was a serious injury and people accepted it and moved on.

Oh no he didn't just quote the rules back to the mods....I have only been here since OTA's and even I have seen what happens to people when they throw he rules back in their faces. Excuse me while I find my seat...:munchout:

To point to the OP, D'pablo didn't exactly base anything on facts or truth. He made sweeping statements to back up his initial thread title, based on things he wanted to say in order to dramatize his view point. Here, refresh your memory:

I'm surprised no one has hit on this. It seems like every long run against the skins has involved this guy getting shoved back 20 yards. He can't hold his ground at all. He has two sacks on the season and people are willing to forget that he gets run over constantly. I'm surprised teams haven't been running to his side more often considering the success last season. It should be a crime for our coaches to allow a 252lbs DE out on the field on every down.

I am not seeing the facts and accuracy that you say are there. Maybe I just can't read.

uh wow Pryde, that's a lot to get off of your chest. Feel better?

Your suggestion that a poll on whose side people support- D'Pablo vs "The Staff"- might be a good idea just to make the point of how wrong I think you are but I'll leave it others if they feel it's necessary. Personally I thought the posts within this thread constituted an overwhelming mandate on the issue, the vast majority of which are not from Staff or Mods, but "just us", regular ole members swarming to the buglight of a thread running amok.

Those guys who you seem to casually dismiss as mods wielding so much power here DO have a lot to say on how ES is maintained, but it isn't because they have their fingers poised within reach of the ban button. They have earned the respect of the vast majority of people that frequent this board through their diligence, even-handed moderating, and their attention to the core belief that this is a forum for Skins fans everywhere. They deserve far more credit than they ever seem to get and have established themselves as the keepers of this community. They get to call the shots, that's true, but if they have power it is because it is quite willingly given to them by hundreds and thousands of members over the course of years that have seen them mold this board into the envy of others. They never claim to be perfect, and several have made the point of publicly apologizing when they were wrong. They hold themselves accountable and seem to be ask if we can do the same ourselves.

Long before this or any other thread gets out of hand and because a negative influence it will be addressed. Right now it is serving the purpose of airing a lot of people's opinions on how we all are allowed to conduct ourselves and some of the responsibilities we have to each other in doing that.

Hopefully I didnt offend anyone by my statements but I just wanted to make clear that my statements are truely out of pure emotion. I really dont mean to offend anyone on ES, but I really needed to get what I needed to say out because allthough I do intend to stand by what I believe in, it is more important to not hit anyone on a personal level here, no matter what they do.

Further more I will refrain from arguing anymore on this topic I feel as if enough has been said. Lets look forward to a good season guys.

Especially when he obviously doesn't know what Rule #5 actually is, even though both Art & myself have explained it on this very board almost on a weekly basis since the season started.

Oh, and he may want to revisit Rule #15, as he's in violation of it. Just sayin. ;)

Pryde,

Nothing you could say would be offensive beyond the one thing that is the most offensive. The people who moderate this board wrote the rules. We know what they mean. You obviously don't. You've not even READ them apparently. Here's what you get to do.

You get to read the rules. All of them. Pay special attention to Rule 18. Every word of it. When done, come back here, to this thread and say something LIKE the following, "Gosh, my bad guys. I know how silly it is for me to think I know the rules YOU wrote better than you. I know I obviously don't. And, I know selectively quoting pieces of a rule written to mean something ONLY when read entirely makes me seem silly. A great deal of what I wrote was based on me not understanding the rule of this site AND VIOLATING RATHER DIRECTLY ONE of them. Thanks for not ALREADY banning me for that and giving me an opportunity to correct that stupidity."

Do that quickly.

As to the rest of your post, let me repeat. If YOU don't UNDERSTAND what's wrong here, then LEAVE. If you want a poll, I'll give you one, but ONLY if you promise to let me ban everyone who sides with you, because, again, WE don't WANT YOU HERE if YOU don't GET IT.

Now, if you want to stay, say whatever you want, whenever you want, just as you have here. But, know this. You NEVER will pretend you know what this site is about and what the rules of this site mean over me again. You get one chance to apologize to me for that garbage. You don't get two.

No offense, but I think that this guy was a little bitter after the Giants game. There was really no need to go after the defense. You know it wasn't entirely their fault that the offense wasn't moving the ball and keeping it out of the hands of the Giants and as far as yesterday is concerned, you know that Carter is our best pass rusher right now. I think that he has made some great strides and I think he is getting better every week he is here. I am glad that we have him.

Why are you feeling emotional about this? Is this really that big a deal in your life?

Sure D'Pablo is getting pounded. This thread was ridiculous. And the membership, in its majority, obviously thinks so. If you feel differently, that AC sucks, then present your case. Otherwise, your sensitivities about the treatment of D'Pablo for his thread are probably better left vented in some sort of emotional counseling session.

Because there's nothing to debate about. This isn't an issue with two sides. There's one side. The other has a guy who has decided since he has no point to be angry with others. When Die Hard created this board it was created with the specific intent to destroy idiots who make statements like the thread starter made. We're still on mission.

I believe that one of the original poster's main points was that AC has been a liability for us on run defense largely due to his weight. Although I do not suscribe to that notion, it is absolutely debatable.

I suppose the person who authored the wiki entry was misinformed. Someone should update that.

Monk,

I love your posts and even agree with a large portion of what you say here. But, here's the rub. People here have grown far too comfortable expressing the greatest idiocy in the world, then when called on it, acting offended for whatever reason they come up with. In the past months we might actually close a thread like this, but, I hope, today, this thread NEVER closes. I hope this thread is an example for people who don't get it that there's fan behavior and statements and there's THIS.

I think I understand your (and the other mods) view of the "RUB" now Art, I understand all this would stop with an apology to AC or for saying he sucks, which he kind of alludes to it being wrong to saying sucks, but just won't say sorry for (stubborn). I knew the swarm would have this thread back up after the game, I guess I was surprized that the MODS would be laying into him so harshly. I retract my stoning comparison, and kind of liken it to to the old wooden contraptions they use to lock peoples head and hands in in the middle of town to shame them  (Not nearly as bad as stoning to death). After my post I looked through some of D'Pablos other threads he started to see if he had a history of this kind of delusional ranting, I didn't really find a pattern. I did find a thread he started last year that has some Irony to it and I would suggest that he revisit this thread and add AC's name to the list.

D'PABLO......Please check out this thread of yours and tell me how AC differs from these other players you list in it, as they all have had some bad times. IN your words....

Thanks, Jay.

And, let me help further.

Any of you who didn't like the post Jay liked, you should leave. Go post elsewhere. Don't stay. We don't want you. We don't need you. We don't like you. Monk. I'm not talking to you, but, there are people in this thread I am talking to :).

Thanks for saying that!!

Dear Art,

I Do apologize because I would never question knowing the rules more then you or any of the ES Staff. I read the rules I understand on how the ES Staff memebers are the selected group of individuals and why they are there. I really dont mean to offend or harm anyone here and I can admit to when im wrong.

I think it's kind of funny to read that now. Those guys deserved the praise after a wonderful 05' season and the unrelenting torment they received during it. There are plenty of posts from last season where I defended Andre Carter from criticism, too. If the search function were working for me, I'd point you to the posts. I'm always the first one to defend a player when I feel it's warranted.

Based on the first few games I saw this season, I wasn't happy with Carter's play. I felt that while his pass rushing abilities are strong, he was weak in the run game. This past game, however, has shown that a pass rush specialist can overcome deficiencies in other areas. It's true that I hold DEs to a higher standard. I've grown frustrated that we haven't spent a high round pick on a DE since 97'. Perhaps this fact and our 2nd half Giants game meltdown took a toll on me. I took it out on Carter.

That said, I apologize for the use of 'Sucks,' which is probably at the crux of the matter. 'Sucks' is too strong a word to be thrown around as casually as I did. Although I still believe his play against the run is sub-standard due to weight issues, which is what this thread should have been about, I believe that he is a good, maybe great, pass rusher.
