Lindy's Sports: 2016 Redskins will finish 4th in NFC East

So I took delivery of the 2016 NFL preview edition of Lindy's Sports magazine.

The author is Brian McNally (who?) and he claims the skins season will suffer from the loss of "veteran leadership" in the locker room. Primarily the loss of Goldson, Knighton, and Hatcher? ooohk

The NFC East is ranked as follows:

1) Cowboys

2) Fecals

3) Giants

4) The Good Guys

Over/Under Wins

Cowboys 9

Fecals 7.5

Giants 7.5

Redskins 7.5

We should probably just go ahead and crown the Turds as division champs. Just about ever sports publication is predicting them to go far.

So, we lose 3 guys off that 28th ranked D and that will make us suffer? Out of them, Goldson was a leader on the field, but he was hardly the only one. Hatcher was OK, but didn't exactly light it up. And Pot Roast was injured a good part of the season and was only a 2 down player anyway, and not that great at that. Quite frankly I saw it as addition through subtraction for the most part!

I just do not get how anyone could pick the eagles to be anything but last place!!  They have little talent, a new HC, an underachieving cry baby QB, and, well they are in philly!!!!  That last one alone is good for 5 losses!!!  :-)

It is hilarious they are writing that the Eagles are going to finish better than the Redskins, and the Eagles have no idea who their QB is going to be.

Apparently.

Seeing as how they are giving all of them equal reps in practice.

The Cowboys have done nothing to shore up a suspect defense. On offense, they have a brittle QB, a rookie RB, an overrated o-line (at least in terms of pass protection), and a WR just now recovering from a foot injury.

The Giants passing offense could be dangerous, but their solutions for that horrible, HORRIBLE defense they had last season was to go out a spend a fortune on three players. If one or more of these players gets hurt or doesn't work out, the Giants are in trouble because they have no real depth behind them.

The Redskins do have their issues as well, but to say they are going to collapse because vocal players on the team aren't there anymore is just silly. As we've been reading on this board, other players have simply stepped up.

Someone needs to show this to the players. This kind of junk seems to inspire them. :)

Ugh.....I was looking forward to seeing what the preview mags were going to say, and this Lindy's prediction having us in last is bad. I really think the Skins and Cowboys should be considered division co-favorites. The Giants have done nothing the past four seasons, and the Eagles appear to be in rebuild mode.

What's bad about it?

I am somewhat disappointed (as is my modus operandi) in the piss-poor, ultra-lazy reporting/predictions being bandied about so far. Outside of a select few talking heads...the majority of which have been former players...we have hardly been mentioned at all this offseason lest it be to discuss Kirk Cousins, & his contract, or Norman for the same.

This other asshat Elliot Harrison has been absolutely incapable of allowing anyone to toss any praise in our direction. It's almost as though he has it written in his contract that as soon as someone has anything positive to say about the Redskins, then he has to repeat his mantra: "lost too many leaders, i hear a lot of ifs, they didn't do anything to help that DL or OL, they can't run the ball." Meanwhile he goes on to say: "IF romoSUCKS stays healthy, IF Elliot takes off running, IF they can get past some early pass rushing questions."

/rant

Anywho...i'm actually embracing it. I feel like...especially after wearing the chip strongly in 2015, i am excited that we GENUINELY get to wear it again this season. This team gets to walk out every Sunday feeling disrespected...no matter what they start saying after week 4, 5, or 6. I mean legitimately gets to feel like people really don't believe in this team at all, outside of a tiny minority.

What's bad about it?? Oh, where do I begin....first off, Kirk being in his first full offseason as unquestioned starter, and coming off a great 2nd half of last season..desean Jackson back and looking healthier and stronger. Jordan Reed coming off an 11 TD season. Offensive line continuing to get better. Galette coming back. Adding Norman. Niles Paul being back as well....and that somehow leads to us being 4th in the division? Yeah...ok. **** Lindy, whoever he is.

Conn, "bad" probably isn't the proper word because obviously a mag's predictions have nothing to do with how its going to play out on the field......guess I'm just more disappointed than anything that Lindy just seemed to relegate the Skins to last place again, despite the Eagles being in rebuild and the Giants not showing anything the past few seasons. I would think we'd receive more consideration for either first or second place (and Rdskns2000's thread in ATN shows that Athlon at least gave us that), but I guess the Skins are gonna need to put up back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in around 20 (!) years before they start getting some love.

I know we have a tough schedule, and the Vegas sharps are usually pretty solid, but its very tempting to throw some cash on the over for the Skins this season, whether the number is 7 or 7.5.

Y'know, I'm pro nerd and pro geek, but geez that pic screams out NERD!

I think it's the combo of his chipmunk cheeks (you should lose your baby fat by 30), Wonder Years haircut, and powder blue shirt. Heck, even the background looks like something out of a school photo.

I hate predictions. There are plenty of reasons to feel hopeful about this team and plenty of questions to answer. Will we have a D line that can generate some pressure or stop the run? Can Cousins do it again? Do we have a running game? Will the players we are relying on coming back healthy be healthy? Are the wide receivers as good as they look on paper? Will our pass rushing linebackers dominate? etc.

At the end of last year, I thought the 'Skins had become a borderline good team. We were at the least a solid team. That was a huge jump up from the putrid team they had been the year before. If they can solidify their position or take another small step forward then 8-10 wins should be on the horizon.

I actually laughed at the responses here, how is this not a GOOD thing? When are these predictions ever right? You get a bunch of fantasy football dweebs that think playing NFL Barbies means they know something and people get all enraged when they don't laud our chances. Funny..........

I love it when I see these things, PLEASE go on touting Dallas as shoo-ins, keep on spilling ink over NYs FA spending spree, hell, twist Wentz getting locked in the john as some example of his steadfast nature, it thrills me no end.

"Under the radar" needs to be our mantra this year, don't look for us, don't see us, don't even remember we exist, the entire organization has been going through "attention whore rehab" and really don't need that ego stroking. The central tenet of Scot's rebuild is the concept of team, let the team be a team, no standouts, no big interviews, no headlines, just a roster of guys that get it and grind it out for the team. Team doesn't care if you notice, team doesn't need your attention, team doesn't give a **** about predictions.

Thank you Scot
