Chase Young probably hasn't even unpacked his bags in New Orleans yet but is already sidelined for a medical procedure.

Hate to say it, but I think at a minimum he's getting $15m right now per year. If we wait and he has another great year, we're looking at $18-20m APY. The guard market has blown up

He’s not worth that IMO

“A knee injury represents a significant reason Chase Young is now with the Saints, after a declined fifth-year option led him to free agency. But the former Defensive Rookie of the Year will spend extensive time rehabbing another issue this offseason.

Young will undergo neck surgery, according to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter…”

Oldest injured free agent athletes trick in the book.

Eyes watering in severe pain while undergoing their physical...

Can’t blame him.

He probably knew that even if this was not the end of the road, that he could see the exit coming up fast and he decided to do whatever it took to maximize his last bag.

In some alternate universe there’s a Chase Young who never got injured, never missed a practice or a mini-camp, was a true team leader, led the league in sacks every year he played, and eventually retired a first ballot consensus hall-of-fame player.

Oh, what might have been.

At 4 million Lucas isnt going to be our starting LT. He is depth at this point. Thats it.

He's a better option at RT than Wylie. Or fresh air at LT. But he should be the swing tackle.

Ah yes, the multiverse. In an alternate universe, Young, Jamin Davis, and Emmanuel Forbes form a trio backbone of a dominant defense that has carried this team to multiple playoff births.

I feel like the Saints should attempt to void the contract. Its America, land of the lawyer and lawsuit.

Saints GM to their Trainer: why didn't you make him do neck tests dammit!

Saint Trainer: Why did you even bring in him in the first place, and then ink him to that ridonk contract??

Maybe they got him "As is".  Is there a lemon law in the NFL?

And you forgot to mention that Daniel Snyder is the most beloved owner in the history of the franchise.

While the scandal plagued Mara who was despised as an evil deceitful lying sack of excrement for years was forced to sell his team last year to a consortium led by billionaire former Duke basketball star and philanthropist Brian Davis.

That's not just multiverse territory.

You're describing a full on Marvel/DC crossover featuring the Scarlet Witch in demented mode creating new realities on Bizzaro World.

It seems like most all approve of the Lucas re-signing. Shout out to the many people person on here beating the drums that we should consider keeping him.

Was there even a 1 lol

I wanted to roll with him as a patch OT if we couldn’t fill the need, but a few said it was a bad idea so I left it alone. Fist pumped after the resigning

Apparently the Saints are saying they knew his neck was jacked.

Sounds to me like they are trying to save face since they can't get out of an iron clad contract anyways.

Why would they ink HIM if he was injured and going to miss camp anyways??  Sign him after camp for dirt cheap.

Update:

Schefter on NFL Live reporting that Chase Young will also have both hips replaced once he's sufficiently recovered from his upcoming neck surgery.

Chase's agent, caught cashing the Saint's paycheck at a local liquor store by a live Fox 5 crew said, "I'm fairly  confident that Chase'll be available to play... err at some unspecified point. Excuse me. Umm, how much are those pickled pigfeet in the big jar?"

Then he quickly ducked into his pickup truck and sped away with an unidentified scantily clad giggling female.
