Since his ouster, he has taken a no-holds-barred approach to the people who facilitated his removal from leadership, unloading on individual lawmakers in public interviews. McCarthy and his allies have at times used their power and deep coffers to weed out Republican incumbents who caused headaches in Washington, or were misaligned with McCarthy’s interests. This month, McCarthy said in an interview with CNN that Gaetz should face consequences for his actions and predicted that Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), one of the eight lawmakers who joined Gaetz, would lose reelection for her “flip-flopping.”

John Cornyn and Ted Cruz walk out of U.S. Senate hearing as Democrats vote on Harlan Crow subpoena

U.S. Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz were among several Republicans who bolted from a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting Thursday to protest subpoenaing Dallas-based conservative donor Harlan Crow.

The committee’s Democrats are seeking records over payments, gifts and travel Crow reportedly provided Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, some of which were not initially listed on financial disclosures. The committee’s GOP members cast the subpoena authorization as a partisan attack against one of the most conservative members of the court and a private citizen.

"This is an outrageous attempt to target private citizens without any legitimate legislative purpose," Cornyn told reporters after the meeting. "If you can go after a private citizen … for a non-legislative prupose, you essentially can target for political reasons any American citizen at any time in the future. And that is a dangerous, dangerous place to go."

The Republicans left the committee room as the roll call vote was taking place. Committee rules require a quorum of nine members including at least two members of the minority. But since the Republicans left during the vote, it’s unclear whether they counted toward a quorum.

All 11 Democrats voted to authorize the subpoena and declared the move adopted. Cornyn said Republicans would "absolutely" contest the vote, arguing there was not a quorum present and that Senate rules require committees to have permission to go for more than two hours when the Senate is in session. The Republicans left the committee just around the two-hour mark.

Democrats Turn Tables on GOP in Judge Nominations

Ilinois Senator Dick Durbin received backlash from his Republican counterparts for using hardline tactics to stop them speaking about two judicial nominees ahead of roll call votes.

During a Thursday meeting on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which Durbin chairs, the Democrat repeatedly prevented GOP senators from debating two Joe Biden nominees to the U.S. District Court, Mustafa Kasubhai and Eumi Lee.

While defending the move, Durbin explained that the GOP had two chances to debate their nominations in previous hearings. Durbin also said he was merely using a tactic previously used by the last two Republican chairs of the committee— Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and South Carolina's Lindsey Graham—who he said violated committee rules by advancing nominees and rules while the GOP controlled the Senate without giving Democrats a chance to voice their views.

"The two preceding chairs of this committee violated the letter and spirit of Committee Rule IV," Durbin said. "In doing so, Republicans established a new precedent that I followed on one occasion last Congress and will follow again today. I've said time and again there cannot be one set of rules for Republicans and a different set for Democrats."

Fetterman calls for Menendez ouster, says actions ‘more sinister’ than Santos

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) renewed his call Friday for the Senate to vote to expel Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), calling the criminal allegations against the New Jersey lawmaker “more sinister” than the charges facing Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who was just expelled from the House.

Fetterman called on Senate colleagues to oust Menendez after host Joy Behar asked him about Santos’s expulsion during an interview on ABC’s “The View.”

“We have a colleague in the Senate that actually does much more sinister and serious kinds of things: Sen. Menendez. He needs to go. And if you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?” Fetterman said.

Didn't he just say a few days ago that Admirals and Generals had contacted him and told him to "keep doing what you're doing"?...So is Tuberville now saying "**** them Generals"? lol...I mean, that's basically what he's been saying for the last 10 months, so it does track.
