kfrankie
So last Thursday i got caught in driving while in the middle of that horrible storm. Pull over to the side of the road, and my vehicle was struck by lightning. It was as if the electricity passed through my body down through the vehicle and into the ground, not like it hit me but a definite jolt of electricity. Made it home and started having a migraine headache. Lasted for like 24 hours, then it cleared up. During the next hour, I had this moment of intellectual clarity like I've never had before. Almost like an engine that you crank up but can't stop turn off. I started thinking, and then jotted down some notes. This is what i came up with in bits and pieces: Chaos theory, particular event, no matter how small, will ripple through time and affect all later events. Therefore every action we take must, by definition, affect the course of the future. Not true. Regression to the mean, demonstrated best in statistical surveying. More units in sample, greater chance of determining true value. standard deviation quickly because infinitely small. Interaction of time and distance works same way. Ripples dissipates as time progresses, distance becomes greater. Magnitude of effect of remote viewer (M) = (Time (T) * Distance from remote viewer (D) / Magnitude of Initial Displacement Event (I)) / (D * speed of light (S)) Quantum mechanics demonstrates that infinitely small particles behave/interact in patterns impossible to predict. Once threshold reached, effect is no longer measureable due to regression to mean. Speed of light is universal ceiling. Quantum foam. Chaos theory disproven. No idea what this means. Migraines are gone thankfully.
Bang
Ok, i m just going to wait for the folks much smarter than me to come in and start discussing this so i can try to follow along. The lightning part is fascinating, and it would be amazing if it led you to a higher level for a while. I'm interested, but lost. ~Bang
TheGoodBits
Gonna be wild to learn in our history books in 200 years how some random dude got struck by lightning and redefined our understanding of the universe, then proceeded to inform the world on Extremeskins.com. 1

My post retirement business is to have a truck and go around collecting all the couches and sofas that people give away for free, listed on Facebook, NextDoor, Craig's List etc. This is my zero-cost inventory for a retail store coming to a strip mall near you. The store will be called Shack of Sit. Edited July 4, 2021 by Corcaigh

mistertim
Certainly some interesting thoughts but it's a bit convoluted and you're throwing a lot of things together that don't necessarily have direct relationships (unless you're going for a grand unification theory, in which case, party on Wayne). I think you're slightly misstating a bit about QM though. Particles aren't infinitely "small" and while it's not possible to predict anything with 100% accuracy, QM math does give the ability to calculate probabilities with extreme accuracy. Also, I don't think you can really "disprove" chaos theory any more than you can "disprove" Euclidian geometry. It's a pretty well established mathematical framework that's observed consistently in nature. The Feigenbaum constant is everywhere. This whole thing sounds like what would happen if quantum mechanics and general relativity smoked some really potent weed and had sex while chaos theory and fluid dynamics watched and beat off in the corner. Migraines are gone thankfully. The effect is no longer measurable, and it’s possible there are multiple effects, in multiple universes in multiple dimensions. Just because the effect isn’t measurable from a humans point of view doesn’t mean the effect doesn’t exist. Chaos theory isn’t disproven, but humans grasp of consequence has been proven to be lacking many many years ago. That is what you are talking about really. A bad trip. A great name for a chain of adult novelty stores would be Ass Pro Shops. i had a moment much like that---i was killing time waiting outside a little mall strip in southern oregon and the standout window displays were the porn/sextoys store and a gun shop...then i got the inspiration: a store featuring both, with huge neon signage reading "Porn & Ammo" over a target with dildo bullets hitting around an, um, " orifice bullseye"...that would do killer warning : this next story includes material even more tasteless (tho i promise it isn't sexist---just soulless mercenary thinking) i had a different moment of clarity in earlier days---the year was 1976 and it was the bicentennial...lots of products were being subjected to 'patriotic marketing" themes in general and the 200 yrs old in particular... so my pal andy and i wrote to johnson and johnson and proctor and gamble about an idea i had for such a product: a regular tampon, but it would be colored half white and half blue.......never heard back from anyone (i take full responsibility for my posts) i'd also like to point out this post not only is relevant to today's celebration, but also to the op's demonstration of how infinitely variable our perceptions and processing of reality can be, just as distinct as one's flatulence for all the common traits flatulency may share a "universally true" understanding of such things may have to wait until kevin feige's work here is done ....hmmm...it appears all the beers are gone....i may be back

Can a particle if exist without mass? If so, how do you observe it? Well, "infinitely small and infinitely dense" would describe a gravitational singularity which is its own beast. As far as a limit on mass, you'd need to define whether you're talking about rest mass or relativistic mass. Relativistic mass would increase to infinity for an object with a rest mass that reaches C, which is one of the reasons objects can't be accelerated to the speed of light. Speed is limited within space, but space itself doesn't have a speed limit. Yes, particles without mass exist. You can observe them by turning on a light switch.
