Lincoln Project Pivots to Targeting 'Sedition Caucus' of Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley

Rick Wilson, the co-founder of the Lincoln Project, a conservative PAC that targeted Donald Trump, has suggested that his group would now shift its focus to other GOP lawmakers who supported the former president's claims of election fraud.

The Lincoln Project relentlessly mocked Trump throughout his election campaign, its aftermath and right up until the inauguration of Joe Biden.

But in the Texas political podcast Y'all-itics, Wilson talked about other GOP lawmakers who supported Trump's claims that the election had been marred by fraud and who challenged the certification of the Electoral College votes.

Trump has been impeached on an article that says he incited his supporters to storm the Capitol on January 6.

When asked if Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who disputed the election result, would be the next focus for his group, Wilson said: "Ted is just one of the members of the sedition caucus... who chose to continue to inflame a violent conspiracy theory."

"So we hold them responsible for helping to inflame that language, perpetuate that conspiracy theory, inflame that crowd. Donald Trump may have struck the match but they poured gas all over the countryside."

Earlier in January, a Lincoln Project ad criticized senators who challenged the election as an attempt to disqualify millions of Black votes.

"Meet the senators from the new Jim Crow caucus," the ad's voiceover says, "they're trying to send African-American voters a clear message: You don't count."

As well as Hawley and Cruz, the ad mentioned senators Rand Paul (R-KY) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) as lawmakers voters should "remember."

Common themes for all these traitors. They either work for the city/govt in some capacity, live at home with their mother, or both. 🤔

3)  And think that mandating paying people a living wage is "socialism".

No offense (and I say this as a navy brat who didn't serve), but I suspect soldiers, even weekend warrior ones, can and should be able to adapt to their environment. They won't be sleeping at the Marriott when in Fallujuh. I get the we can and should do better part but to me this story should have been a non issue. As always, thank them for their service, but also acknowledge they are soldiers.

Hotel rooms were available. There is no reason these people should be sleeping on floors and in parking garages.

No excuse for that ****.

Kind of crazy that there wasn't a plan already in place to shelter extra guards that come in to protect the capital city.

My understanding is that they weren’t living in the garage, that it was a break area while they were on duty.  When off-duty, they have actual lodging.  And yea, if this is the worst they experience while deployed, they’d be grateful.  God knows there have been times when I’ve been deployed that I would have been ecstatic to a place that good to sleep even while off-duty.

Now I’m going to go yell at kids to get off my lawn.

And even a phased in increase over several years is going to face resistance from the GOP. From what I can discern, most seem to favor progressive policies higher wages, marijuana legalization, universal healthcare in some form, even a universal basic income is gaining ground. We have to do something and we need some smart policy economists to hammer out a blueprint for the next couple of decades to implement these things because they have to happen. Something that never seems to get mentioned in all this minimum wage debate is that taxpayers are subsidizing the profits of businesses and even Fortune 500 companies because of the poverty level wages they pay. Close to half of Americans work at or near the minimum wage and they need to enroll into public funded assistance programs. This is a burden as well. We have loads of BS jobs where folks working FT cannot even provide basic life necessities. These are not jobs just for teenagers or beer money for college kids anymore either. These 'jobs' are being churned out more than any other sector. We have massive hills to climb and very tough decisions to make because AI and automation will only compound them. Figuring out a UBI should be a priority IMO.

Just observing.

Florida just voted in favor of Trump by 51%.

And increasing minimum wage to $15, by 60%.
