  1. 1. Rookie QB or Veteran QB for next season (2021)???

    • Draft QB first round
    • Rookie QB from outside first round
    • Sign FA Veteran
    • Trade for Veteran
    • Stand Pat with one of the QBs we have on Roster, draft QB in 2022 Draft iinstead
    • I don't know
    • I don't care
    • I'm tired of 5 year development plans burned to the ground in less then 2

Well the Cowboys won't and neither will any other team coughing up that kind of money. We're soon at a point where quarterbacks will be like running backs, draft one, and let it go. This will happen until there is some market correction so teams can fill out the rest of their rosters. Guys like Dak, Kirk, Matt Ryan, etc. are not worth that kind of cap hit when they need help around them. Besides being the GOAT, another reason Brady won so much was that he was taking below market deals for nearly, it not all of his career.

Zeke - 15 million a yaer

Dak - 42 million a year

LT - 12.2 a year

RG - 14 a year

RT - 10 a year

Amari - 20 a year

113.2 million a year for just 6 players.  All on offense.  The cap for 2021 is 180ish million.  That's absurd.

And their defense blows

How in the world in a cap strapped season can they do 75M in one season?

The cap money is different from how the money is paid.  You can do a few things to spread that cost out, but it still has to be accounted for.

So 75 million paid out in Year 1 might feature 20-30 million on the cap for Year 1, and then the remaining 55-45 million leftover, has to be split along the other 3 years.  So those years would have a monster cap hit.  The cheaper they finagle the cap hit for Year 1, the worse it'll hurt them in Years 2, 3, and 4.
