BBC: China pneumonia outbreak: COVID-19 Global Pandemic

Common sense vs evidence based medicine... The studies unfortunately didn't look at transmission with the vaccine.

While the liklihood of transmission may very well be reduced and even unlikely, no doctor can give out unfounded advice. Further, we know that reinfection occurs

Dr. Paul is a joke, but we knew that

That's ****ing irresponsible.  Can't they lock him up for wreckless endangerment?  Ass.

Hey.  Can't prosecute him for violating a law.  He's a Libertarian.

Every single person who's loved one dies of Covid should sue him for damages.  That's the Libertarian way to solve things.

Well it finally got to me, I have COVID and the flu. Didn’t even think that was possible

Once, 25 years ago, I got the flu right after getting the flu, and ended up with pneumonia.  Take care of yourself.

Gvt don't have enough vaccines but we keep on increasing the number of vax centers, go figure.

Logistics is f-up, other much smarter countries use the army, we don't.

We could have ordered russian vaccines to prevent any shortage, we didn't and we won't.

Gvt couldn't even provide the proper needles nor the proper injection protocol !  we have subcutaneous needles instead of intramuscular.

We didn't sequenced the virus so we couldn't trace its mutations. Now we know one variant was here since last September.

Marijuana May Help Prevent COVID-Related Respiratory Distress

Researchers at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, have discovered that certain cannabis strains might offer some help in preventing acute respiratory distress in patients who have COVID-19.

Acute respiratory distress happens when the virus overloads a person's immune system to the point where the body attacks itself and the patient needs to be placed on a ventilator. The new study shows that certain strains of marijuana might slow that process down or even stop it.

Incoming CDC director: Expect 500,000 Covid-19 deaths by mid-February

In less than a year, Covid-19 has killed almost 400,000 Americans.

And in just the next month, another 100,000 lives could be lost to the disease, the incoming director of the US Centers For Disease Control and Prevention said.

"By the middle of February, we expect half a million deaths in this country," Dr. Rochelle Walensky told CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday.

"That doesn't speak to the tens of thousands of people who are living with a yet uncharacterized syndrome after they've recovered," said Walensky, who was chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital before President-elect Joe Biden picked her to lead the CDC.

OK, my state is doing dumb things again.

All of the outer counties have gone to remote learning for this week.  Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County have decided to go back in person tomorrow.  Teachers are literally freaking out on the news.  The virus is running amok and we've got a good chance of unrest downtown.

I cannot understand this at all.

More than 40,000 in Florida overdue for 2nd dose of coronavirus vaccine

More than 40,000 people in Florida are overdue to receive their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine and officials say it is a problem some experts said they saw coming.

Out of the hundreds of thousands who have been vaccinated in Florida, almost 80,000 have returned for their second shot.

Most people are still waiting for the time when they can get their booster shot, but the Florida Department of Health reported this weekend that 40,661 people are overdue for their second shot.

“I heard there are some seniors balking at getting the second shot because they’ve heard that the side effects are worse with the second shot,” Seminole County EMS Medical Director Todd Husty said.

The second shot is supposed to have worse side effects than the first, and it means your body is doing what it’s supposed to do which is mount a defense against the virus.

It sounds terrible, but there will be more COVID deaths under Biden than Pence.  And don’t think for a second that the right won’t bang that drum at the midterms and the current “it’s a hoax”-ers will eat that up.

Rather than working to protect Americans, Trump is playing politics with the virus, actively trying to make it worse so that Biden looks bad:

Trump moves to lift some Covid-19-related travel restrictions, but Biden plans to block the order

President Donald Trump on Monday lifted coronavirus-related travel restrictions for much of Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Brazil, effective on January 26 -- a move that President-elect Joe Biden's administration has promised to block.

In an executive order issued Monday evening, Trump said he had been advised to lift restrictions on incoming travelers to the United States from the 26 European countries in the Schengen Zone, the UK, Ireland and Brazil but leave in place restrictions on travel from Iran and China.

"I agree with the Secretary that this action is the best way to continue protecting Americans from COVID-19 while enabling travel to resume safely," Trump wrote in the order, referring to Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar.

It's obviously not a hoax, but I will be very interested to see how differently it's actually handled. It's been so politicized on both sides for the past 10-12 months and now we'll truly see what changes are made.

Care to elaborate?  I’m not sure what you are trying to say here. Clearly there is a world of difference in what can be done now versus what could have been done  for the past year.

One thing that changed right away is that several of the democratic governors who were previously opposed to reopening schools have completely changed their tune....

Care to provide specific references on exactly who? This is a pretty broad and vague statement - more like a right wing talking point - unless you can provide specific examples. Not saying it's not true just looking for the facts you believe that supports your contention.
