Just say, "hey, I gave this my best shot, and went way further than any sane person would go. The Dems wouldn't budge. It's been a month. The votes aren't there. People are hurting, and I care about that, so I'm calling it a day. I desperately want to keep my campaign promise, but I can't control the House. In 2020, I really need my supporters to come out and elect more GOPers to the House and we can get this done." That's it. Just act Presidential for once, and you get out of this saving face with everyone that isn't nuts.
