What a time to be living in America.  Yikes.

America's a dumpster fire and we've been in decline for decades now. I take no pleasure saying that. We have thousands of Americans living in their cars, millions more toiling away on poverty level wages, folks saddled in debt just to acquire an education, upward mobility little more than a pipedream for most these days. I'm tired of hearing we are exceptional. We've lost those bragging rights long ago. Now, we're exceptional in that a person can become homeless and impoverished for the grave sin of getting sick. The GOP's sole existence is to facilitate tax avoidance to the one-percenters and Corporate America ensuring there are vast pools low-wage slaves devoid of bargaining power to exploit. We've been going in the wrong direction for a long, long time steered mostly by greed IMO and I hope the trajectory changes for our sake, future generations of Americans and the world itself.

This Anand Giridharadas quote is a perfect encapsulation about NY Times writer Kurt Andersen's new book Evil Geniuses: The Unmaking of America. Reading his book is mostly why I feel the way I do currently.

"Andersen sets out to narrate a complex, many-layered history of how a band of rich people, corporate executives and political right-wingers, aided and abetted by gullible “useful idiots” in the media and the political left, transformed the nation into a casino where only they ever win."

This is so stupid. There were literally people storming the building looking for her and others to kill. And we know this. Because we all saw it live and then they streamed it and told us they wanted to kill them. And we got **** suckers like Mace playing semantics cause......why? Whats the ****ing point? Just to find another way to claim the left is lying to you again? Thats what started this ****. Its why I hate listening to people say we need decent republicans back. No we dont. They started this ****, just like this.

The GOP seems to represent "power for power's sake".  I see that after a successfully conducted election with minimum fraud in a COVID environment, states like GA are starting to ramp up the vote suppression game again.

Trump's out, but the party as a whole and country need to reject this discussion of widespread voter fraud.

GA: ban automatic voter registration, no excuse absentee voting and ballot drop boxes.  What a bunch of garbage.  They are fighting to suppress more legitimate voters.

Was this a rhetorical question?

Because they are amoral scum.

The entire ethos of their party would fit on a bumpersticker

"Maximum profits- minimum responsibility"

Yea it’s mostly rhetorical but I’m still shocked at how stupid they are. It’s obvious this is an inefficient way to hold onto power. At some point you have to make a decision based on your own well being and it shocks me that they simply don’t have the ability to think that far ahead anymore.

The worst part is that just under half the country feels this way and I am not even referring to policy issues either, just their general outlook on things.  I woke up today seeing people who have no idea how the Capitol is structured, running with the idea that "AOC Lied" because they read something originating in  right wing blog about how AOC might have mischaracterized a hallway somewhere in the facility.  Like.....really?  This is what got you angry and ready to go to battle on twitter/social media?

I don't see a pathway forward when every single battle big or small is over a whole bunch of nothing or distorted realities.  The riots at the capitol is barely a month old and people are already acting like it should be forgotten and just moved on from and oh well whatever.

Trump getting his *** kicked in the election was a nice feel-good moment for a couple weeks, but it's looking like it has changed absolutely zero when it comes to the GOP.  They had a golden opportunity to get rid of him for good, and take a very short-term hit in order for long term stability and maybe even rebuilding the GOP through a modern era lens, but nope, can't do that because their policy agenda does not mix with the modern era so all they have done since the election is go out of there way to make sure the cult knows they still have a place in the GOP.
