China
On The Trail: The era of big government Republicanism Republican governors and legislators have embarked on new campaigns to restrict the rights of their constituents and punish those who voice dissent, flexing the power of government run by a party that once pledged to keep government out of private life. On issues ranging from transgender rights to cross-border trade and private business decisions related to the coronavirus pandemic, Republican lawmakers have advanced measures this year that insert government into many facets of American life. Twenty-six years after a Democratic president declared an end to the era of big government, that era is back — but now it’s being driven by the Republican Party. “As the right moves into post-liberalism and away from what traditionally has been defined as conservative, it is much more comfortable with wielding state power to own the libs,” said Geoffrey Kabaservice, vice president of political studies at the Niskanen Center and author of “Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party.” “They would say the state is the only major institution in American life that conservatives now control — they have to make full use of whatever power is available to them.” Click on the link for the full article 1
Larry
The Republican Party was a champion of local rule, when local government was what they controlled. The Party that insists that the federal government can't stop states from disenfranchising blacks, has no problem with the federal government telling California that they can't impose a state gas mileage limit. 1

@DCGoldPants
Quote 'Burn them': GOP lawmaker sparks ire over Tennessee school library book bill But in the House debate on Wednesday, Sexton suggested he would take things a step further. "I would burn them," Sexton said of books he considers inappropriate. To some, the amendment felt like a last-minute power grab as the legislature intends to wrap its session this week. Republican leadership this year have supported multiple measures to increase oversight over school libraries amid repeated lobbying from conservative groups on the issue. House GOP Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby, attempted to dial back the rhetoric around the issue earlier this spring, after conservative critics compared librarians to sexual predators during a bill debate. Republicans have offered limited examples of inappropriate materials available to Tennessee students, often conflating books that discuss themes of sexuality or difficult topics such as rape as pornography. https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2022/04/27/jerry-sexton-burn-books-tennessee-school-library-bill-debate/9554117002/ I don't care if it was withdrawn. It should already be an ad online and TV, asking "Is this what we've become?" The story is over 12 hours old and the D's again show they have no idea how to use this. Die Hard
Now, MTG has for sure been hit in the face with a couple of cans of soup. And chunky soup… not that low sodium water-based soup.

This is a right-wing story and issue though, they are pushing it and they are marketing it to them. Left needs to push their own narratives, not feed the GOP media machine. Bang
He is so masculine, the very picture of virility. Trump went on to remind everyone that during the Revolutionary War General Frank Washington defended Philadelphia International Airport from a British counter-attack using papayas that the Pennsylvania natives picked from fruit bushes that were growing wild in the forests. Papayas explode on contact, and the British didn't know this, but of course, Frank Washington did, and that is what made him almost as great a president as himself. Trump then mused that the military should go back to using papaya grenades as they were easy to grow and tasted delicious. He estimated this could save the US Eleventy Four Zillion dollars over the next two weeks. ~Back to you, Bob Edited April 28, 2022 by Bang
