If you say just 1/10th of the things said about Obama and Trump's family to someone face to face there's 100% chance you are getting a punch to the face.

 

I question the sanity of anyone that wants to run for public office. 40% people automatically hate you, your family and anyone associated with you.

Agreed, she's not even close to alone.  We've seen the awful racist statements and pictures targeting the Obamas since our President stepped onto the national stage.  Not the majority sentiment but still a steady drum beat that too often managed some connection to government employees or elected officials.

I believe it was one of our more notable members here that posted on his facebook page that this was the first time that he knew what color the new first lady's nipples were.

As to being free to express it? She lost her job over posting it. How exactly is that free? That is precisely what should happen when you post something like this. It reflects poorly on your employer and they choose to terminate your employment. That is not free. That is a very steep price to pay, especially in employment poor West Virginia. It's not like there are a plethora of open jobs in WV. She flushed her government career away base don her racist views. 

Very free to say what she wants...and as we hear so often you are free to express yourself to your heart's desire, but you are not immune from the social consquences of that free expression.

I'm glad she was fired, and now she'll have to live in a community where everyone knows she's a racist. The reason the KKK wore sheets is so that they could do their work anonymously. She should have learned. 

In the end the sheer audacity that she thought that she could post something like that one social media without repurcussions is what is so frustrating. But, I'm certainly not surprise since we elected a candidate who thrived on fighting against political correctness.

Whatever. She said something racist and was fired for it. That is exactly how it should work. 

And please, read what I post and don't just respond in a way that makes you feel better. She didn't suffer, she suffered consequences. Exactly as you should if you post racist things on the Internet as a public employee.

I wish we could all just stop attacking each other, trashing people.

 

I'm noticing this type of thing here a lot lately since the election.  it's happening ON BOTH SIDES and it's a shame.  Too many people seem determined to sink to the lowest level.  ES used to be a place where people with differing opinions could have a reasonable conversation with acting like children (with a few exceptions).  Maybe it's time for me to take a break from ES.  

I hope some of you can grow up.

I agree. If you post something hateful about a race or individual you should be subject to termination. It shouldn't matter what race you are, if you engage in this you should lose your job.

You crossed the line here. Bit ticked.  The board knows me as a fairly conservative Republican, what they don't know, as I haven't thrown this around,  is my wife of 21 years is a black woman. And when some knucklehead comes on here saying I revel in a world where it is ok to call a n***** a n***** again that I will take issue with.
