The things we'd pay real attention to if we had a somewhat normal administration...

Nothing important outside the administration gets attention because there's a bombshell every other day dropping about said administration.

60 minutes sunday did a special on the hacking of the Illinois electoral offices (it might have a been a rerun after the Masters, not sure...) and a part that caught my eye was the disappointment that DHS/DoJ/CyberCommand/Whomever (I think it was a joint report) released a report confirming the Russians broke into one of our states' electoral offices in a huge breach and 30 minutes later the Stormy Daniels stuff hit the press.

The lack of coverage was so bad they'd be forgiven for re-releasing it and just pretending the initial release never happened...

the thought still sticks in my head...  130 grand is a small amount to pay for a distraction that times itself to present while much more serious things are happening.

I don't trust Donald Trump, and I don't trust Stormy Daniels. Both are whores, plain and simple. What won't they do for money?

And as far as the possibility he may have tripped himself up with it by paying for it through his campaign,,  hubris on his scale has already caused ridiculous stupidity. Not a stretch to think they believed could and would get away with it, if the hubris even let them consider it.

He knows his base won't care if he banged a porn star, and what d'ya know...

I remember that day

There have been stories all over America about how they are not able to protect votes from Russian hacking and it’s not got any coverage.

And of course no one cares about voter suppression laws because they target African American  and Latino people

I guess this goes here, I didn’t want to start a thread on the deficit....

Still better than Hillary....

Remember the good ol days when Republicans were Conservative? Heck I remember when they used to call Dems “tax and spend”, hell at least the Dems wanted to pay for what they bought. Repubs, well it seems that they’ve gone with Trump’s business practice of refusing to pay.

Where are all of those Rightwing Conservatives ****ing about the balooning deficit?

This has been Republican Party policies since Reagan.

When a Democrat president or congress steps in, they will be complaining about the deficit, spending, and taxes. The American Public is too stupid to see this cycle.

White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert leaves White House

Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert is leaving the Trump administration, the White House announced on Tuesday.

Bossert did not resign, CBS News' Margaret Brennan reports, but was rather pushed out. Although widely considered effective in his duties, Bosset's portfolio overlapped with that of former National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster's, causing the two to compete. The arrival of John Bolton as the new national security adviser on Monday triggered the decision to remove Bossert.

It is unclear whether Bossert's departure was requested by Bolton or if this is a restructuring of the job. No successor has been named.

"The President is grateful for Tom's commitment to the safety and security of our great country," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.

Old school aeration I guess... I remember Kempsville golf course used to look like that for a few weeks back in the day.

Edit...

Nice summary article of the raids with some surprising comments from Uncle Rudy Doody.

Dems suck at the narrative. The GOP Deficit should be a tagline for decades. Takes time to change perception. Marketing should be "Did you know....?" with the stats. Then a  "So, let's not kid ourselves on who is being fiscally responsible."

I wouldnt even do that.

I would just continue spending on services people need and tax the wealthy.

Dems wont do that because they do not want to hurt their wealthy donors.

I know many are licking their chops that Trump will be gone soon.  It's not going to happen.

There's only 3 ways Trump is no longer president.

1. In 2020, Trump loses the Electoral Vote and thus the election.

2. Trump resigns.

3. He dies in office, through natural or unnatural means.

Trump will not be indicted. Mueller probably won't go that route, since there's debate on whether a sitting president can be indicted.

Trump will only be impeached if the Dems control the House.

Trump will not be removed from office; even if he's impeached.  The Dems don't have 2/3 majority in the Senate and there's no way that many GOPers vote against the President.

So, the best one can hope for is that the Mueller investigation and most likely firing leads to at least a Democratic house in November.  Then after the impeachment in 2019; Trump is damaged enough; he loses reelection in 2020.

I don't see Trump quitting.  I'd expect conflicts in Syria, Iran and North Korea as distractions.

I think some of this depends on how much damage can be done to Trump's base. I'm not sure what he can do to force them to turn on him but at the end of the day people care about their wallets. If he his trade war and health care chickens come home to roost and if the markets keep tanking, we end up in a recession and with skyrocketing healthcare costs in Trump country it could eventually tip the scales. The GOP will do whatever their base will allow them to do.

I have no doubt that Congressional GOPers would love to have that Trump albatross off of them now that they've shoved their corporate donor tax cuts down the country's throat, but they're still terrified of his base. If his base, or a decent amount of it, turns on him I don't see anything stopping many Senate GOPers from claiming they always hated Trump and that he should be removed from office if he gets impeached by a Dem House.

If there's a recession in 2019 and it's over and the economy is rebounding in 2020; then that won't be a factor.  If there's to be a recession during Trump's tenure; you want it in 2020 and you want his voters feeling the negative effects of that; when they vote in the Fall of 2020. That's the only way his stupid base leaves him.

Capone went to jail for tax evasion. As long as the end result is positive, do we really care what brings this administration down in the end?

Edit..also like Capone, Trump is obviously showing signs of syphilitic dementia. ?

I was thinking the same thing today.
