Well like I said in my previous post he's 20 so I would hope that we have the coaching to get the most out of him as he his still growing as a person. Also, Michigan State was a really bad team last year, he competed while injured, and was the only player likely to get drafted at all in that front seven. There were instances where he would defeat a double team, force the running back to stop momentum/redirect but then his teammates were washed out/cut down allowing for a big gain. My point isn't to make excuses for him but to provide the context surrounding this"lack of effort" perception.

@stevemcqueen1 We're just gonna have to differ on opinions here about foster, love this time of year. One of my favorite highlights of Foster is a botched hook and lateral. Most players would have blown up the receiver. He was right on top of that and when he saw a broken attempt to the lateral player he simultaneously goes after him. Instinct and football sense. Plus, you don't tackle as good as Foster without having 'good football instinct'. That in and of itself is one of the greatest indicators a guy can play. Also, one of the reasons I'm not high on 2 of the highly regarded safeties in the draft, Hooker and Adams

The team that drafts him is likely going to play him at ILB.  He could be a legit beast there.  I hope its us.

@HTTRDynasty Like I said last week, I watched all his film on draft breakdown, from philly area, I just don't see anything on film that gets me excited.

But you were watching film of him in a position he probably won't be playing in the NFL.  Most who are high on Reddick are high on him as an ILB, or do-everything LB, similar to Jamie Collins.

I have a feeling the 16 teams drafting before us probably feel the same way though. We can hope!

Bottom line: Reddick is an explosive athlete that can consistently win the edge when rushing the passer, and has the physicality to get off blockers at all three levels. While teams will certainly want to take advantage of his pass-rush ability first, he also shows the instincts, speed and change of direction to help on coverage drops as well. Because of this, he is a scheme-independent player, and despite his frequent overrunning of plays, he warrants selection in the first round.

“He’s the new face of NFL versatility,” Zierlein said. “A guy that can play all over the field and really be a weapon for a creative defensive coordinator to deploy.”

 

 

I am ok with Reddick at #17.  I am with Cooley in that they need to bring in a pass rusher who can bring some consistent heat.  And in my view,  preferably a pass rusher with a quick step and speed versus another power rusher.  I admit I don't know if Reddick is an easy conversion to MLB.  However, the reason why I think he's a safe pick is even if he's a third down specialist who can come off the edge or the middle -- it fills a big need.  If the dude ultimately can play MLB -- he strikes me as the perfecf swiss army knife for this defense.  He's a different level athlete than the pass rushers we have on the team.  Among other things this team IMO desperately needs speed.

FWIW 40 times for linemen/edgerushers/linebackers are a terrible stat.  The 10 yard split off the 40 is good, but vertical leap and short area explosion are much more important. Reddick has that too so whatever lol

If he's fully going to recover from the injury, which I think he does, then it's a very good pick IMO

Round 2-3 tape, but pretty evident to me that he has serious upside. Measurables suggest teams can move him around a bit instead of playing strictly EDGE. Easy comparison is Clay Matthews, I think Watt is a little more versatile but nothing like the bend Clay had in his prime years. Injuries have ravaged Clay's career. That two year run he had a few years back, man that dude was a menace. Anyways, I'd be disappointed if we selected him at 17, but wouldn't hate grabbing him in mid-20's due to trading back. Defense still needs a lot of help

I'm probably in the minority here but I would be ecstatic if we drafted Joe Mixon in the second.  Can't excuse or justify his past but if he's still on the board when we pick in the 2nd round, I don't see how you can pass on that talent.  

I wouldn't be surprised if he's picked late in the 1st round or early second, GB (29) or CLE (33).

I'd say if he's there in the 3rd go and take him.  Too much baggage to draft earlier considering we are the redskins and we have enough bad media attention as it is.  But 3rd round?  I'll take the risk.

Initially he will probably be a PR nightmare but time heals all wounds.

I think you may well be right about him going the second. Said it before, he's the clear most talented back in this class for me. Just the baggage that keeps him out the first. 

 

Interesting it was only the Vikings who really looked interested the OU pro-day. But I think they'll be a lot of teams working him out on the quiet who didn't want to show their hand to avoid the criticism in Norman. 

 

Personally, I wouldn't want him because I just have a thing with guys who hit woman. But having said that, he's been squeaky clean the last three years since save for a parking violation and has done a lot of work with various woman's groups/ shelters. Stoops, after initially regretting not kicking him out, speaks REAL high of his character so he has been trying to atone ever since that horrible act. But I also know, being an OU fan, just what a talent he is. And I'm not naive to not know there comes a point where that talent level is just too goods to turn down. 

 

If we bagged him at 49 nobody could deny we'd bagged a MASSIVE steal on a bona fide top 20, if not top 10 talent. Whatever ones reservations about the baggage that comes with him and the person that brought that around.

We absolutely have to go DLine in at least one of the first 2 rounds.  There is no way around it.  The other should really be on D also, either at safety, ILB, or also on the DLine.  From that point we can take BPA.  I think if we had picked up a top DLine in FA that would have given us more freedom, but I think theres no way we can take a RB or WR in round 1, and I think there is no way we will considering what Allen said about the Doctson pick(which I think hes dead wrong on).
