Redskins have just two guys remaining who played a single snap under Zorn. They have 4 guys who have never been on the team during a loss!

Dan Steinberg ‏@dcsportsbog 3m3 minutes ago

If you count the practice squad, a majority of the locker room has never been in Washington for a losing season! Weird.

Wanted to give these posts some props. We've brought in a lot of people. (Unfortunately, many of them, out of necessity) And the ones we've brought in, have done well.

I wonder if the team was tipped off that Jacoby would be in the final 15 so they could make him the honorary captain.

Doubt it. If he didn't make it, it would have been an honorary showing of support for him. But this stuff is kept pretty air tight and don't they vote on the spot?

I don't know how many caught Jerry Reese's press conference on NFL Network the other day, a Giants reporter told Reese he hasn't been good compared to the rest of the league at finding players in the mid rounds, Reese fired back and said he doesn't know that.  Well, the reporter just researched it, its relevant to us because according to his math the Redskins have been the worst in the NFL 2007-2013 at it.  Thankfully, we got Scot now!

http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2016/01/the_research_jerry_reese_wanted_it_and_the_giants.html#incart_river_index

Your percentage of hitting on those is lower, in the last eight years or so, than the other teams," I told Reese. "Granted you're not going to hit 50 percent ..."

But Reese fired back.

"Have you researched that? Do you know that for a fact?" Reese said. "OK, until you know that for a fact, then I don't think you should say that. That's just my opinion. If you know that for a fact, then you can tell me that. But give me the facts on that."

Ummm, challenge accepted.

Draft "hits" from 2007-13 in Rounds 3-7:

(Note: It usually takes three seasons to be able to accurately assess a draft so 2014-15 was not calculated.)

1. Packers – 14
2. Dolphins – 13
T-3. Panthers – 12
Raiders – 12
Bucs – 12
T-6. Texans – 11
Colts – 11
Bears – 11
Vikings – 11
Falcons – 11
T-11. Seahawks – 10
Chiefs – 10
T-13. Rams – 9
Chargers – 9
Titans – 9
Jaguars – 9
Bengals – 9
Steelers – 9
Ravens – 9
Broncos – 9
T-21. Cards – 8
Lions – 8
Cowboys – 8
Eagles – 8
Jets – 8
T-26. Saints – 7
Browns – 7
T-28. 49ers – 6
Patriots – 6
Giants – 6
Bills – 6
32. Redskins – 3

There are the Giants all the way down there near the bottom. Tied for 28th in the NFL. Only the Redskins had fewer "hits" than the Giants since Reese took over as general manager.

Observing that "hits" seems like a pretty subjective opinion. Might want to use a less subjective metric. Say, how many are still on an NFL roster, 3 years after being drafted.

And also observing that counting "number of hits" punishes teams who have fewer picks in those rounds. Teams that used those picks to trade up, or to trade for a player, get counted as "didn't get a hit"

But, having said all that? I suspect that every person in this forum would agree that we've sucked in the draft, for years.

what constitutes as a 'hit'?

^Nevermind, I read :)

"Hits" will be defined as players who were starters or significant contributors for more than one season for the team that drafted them.

I have a feeling 3 is a little low for the Redskins:

- Cousins - 4th

- Reed - 3rd

- Morris - 6th

- Thompson - 5th

- Compton - 6th

- Robinson - 4th

- Paul - 5th

- Riley - 4th

I would at least go with Cousins, Reed, Morris, Robinson, Riley as locks.  Compton on the bubble with Thompson and Paul on the edge as well (mainly because of injuries)

Agree. I would gather since the reporter wanted to show up J. Reese he used metrics that would serve his argument. But yeah what I take from that is it again confirms its no accident that this team has struggled year after year -- you pile mediocre/bad drafts one after another -- you have a bad/mediocre team.   Now with Scot hopefully its good after good draft = consistently good teams.  Interesting, that the Packers were first.

Thanks Obama Vinnie!

Not sure where you are going with the Obama reference.  But politics aside -- yeah Vinnie clearly was a disaster and following him up with Bruce sadly seemed to be simply a smoother version of Vinnie with similar results.

Bottom line if Cousins turns out to be our franchise QB, we are number one in my book...

"“Thanks, Obama!” is a sarcastic expression used by critics of President Barack Obama to blame personal troubles and inconveniences on public policies supported or enacted by the administration. The phrase is often used to caption animated GIFs in which the subject appears to be struggling with a rather simple task, satirizing those who scapegoat Obama as the cause of problems for which he has little or no influence."

I gathered that part.  That's not me critiquing your post -- its cool to joke about whatever, just explaining the part I was endorsing was the Vinny part, the political part I try to abstain from.  :)
