Rocky21
Oh how I laughed when I heard this on my local morning news program. Records revealed by the recent data hack of the adultery website Ashley Madison show that the names of two prominent state senators from Virginia appear among its user base: Senate Majority Leader Thomas K. Norment, R-James City, and state Sen. A. Donald McEachin, D-Henrico. http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/government-politics/article_7a015f15-6971-5f4f-873d-ab78d9d74605.html

tshile
McEachin emphatically said he has not used the site. The chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus said in a brief phone interview Tuesday evening that “unless somebody hacked me, I don’t have an explanation for it, other than it’s not me.”

rictus58
Cheating on your wife is wrong. Whether you are religious or not. Civil ceremony at the court house or one in a church. You are pledging your fidelity to another.

Kosher Ham
He deserves the scorn. But I have a curious question: do you all think what he did was wrong or just the hypocrisy of it? Both. You can't claim to have values that you obviously don't. No respect to honor his wife, nor any respect for his children, family, brand, etc. Makes it come across as some Jim Bakker type of scam. Sad more than anything. Doesn't it make you uncomfortable and irritated ? This guy was a representative of that culture.

It's more fun to point out the hypocrisy of those that are "holier than thou". Kind of a "gotcha". People like saying gotcha.
China
Almost None of the Women in the Ashley Madison Database Ever Used the Site When hacker group Impact Team released the Ashley Madison data, they asserted that “thousands” of the women’s profiles were fake. Later, this number got blown up in news stories that asserted “90-95%” of them were fake, though nobody put forth any evidence for such an enormous number. So I downloaded the data and analyzed it to find out how many actual women were using Ashley Madison, and who they were. What I discovered was that the world of Ashley Madison was a far more dystopian place than anyone had realized. This isn’t a debauched wonderland of men cheating on their wives. It isn’t even a sadscape of 31 million men competing to attract those 5.5 million women in the database. Instead, it’s like a science fictional future where every woman on Earth is dead, and some Dilbert-like engineer has replaced them with badly-designed robots. Those millions of Ashley Madison men were paying to hook up with women who appeared to have created profiles and then simply disappeared. Were they cobbled together by bots and bored admins, or just user debris? Whatever the answer, the more I examined those 5.5 million female profiles, the more obvious it became that none of them had ever talked to men on the site, or even used the site at all after creating a profile. Actually, scratch that. As I’ll explain below, there’s a good chance that about 12,000 of the profiles out of millions belonged to actual, real women who were active users of Ashley Madison. When you look at the evidence, it’s hard to deny that the overwhelming majority of men using Ashley Madison weren’t having affairs. They were paying for a fantasy. Kosher Ham
Uncomfortable? It drives me nuts, and its depressing at the same time. For you, probably more than others. Just realize he is actually not a true representation of someone of that ilk. Shameful. I always have a problem with anyone that makes proclamations that don't balance with who they really are. I won't make a big deal of it, I just make the mental note. Gives me that hmm moment.

Back in my single days, I used online dating sites. And some of them had a "casual encounters" section. Every now and then, I would wander into that cesspool and came away with the conclusion that every woman on that end was either a dude screwing around or a hooker. Any article on Ashley Madison is filled with stories of guys spending hundreds of dollars and never meeting anyone. So, yea, I think it's a scam for the most part. Women don't need websites to have an affair, they can pretty much just chose almost any man they want and the majority of the time the man will succumb. It's like Chris rock said, "A man is only as faithful as his options." The men that used Ashely Madison clearly didn't have many options. They were probably mostly sad sacks that were lucky to have even found a wife to begin with.

It's never seemed terribly difficult for military members to get laid, and there were plenty of them using the site, it seems. I think what it sold is the illusion of finding some kind of easy, classy, 80s night-time soap type affair from your Ipad.
