China
Arizona state trooper arrested on 61 sex-related, kidnapping and fraud counts Arizona Department of Public Safety detectives arrested one of their own troopers Tuesday on charges of sexual abuse, extortion, kidnapping, harassment and fraud, AZDPS Col. Frank Milstead said at a news conference. Tremaine Jackson, 43, an AZDPS trooper for about 13 years, used his position of authority to "bargain leniency for favor," Milstead said. "The Arizona Department of Public Safety is a proud and venerable organization with a storied past," Milstead said. "Most of the employees serve Arizona with pride and integrity. ... When one of our own betrays public trust or breaks the law, we respond swiftly and without regret." Jackson most recently worked in the department's Metro Motors District. Officers began an investigation on May 19 after a woman complained that Jackson made inappropriate comments to her, Milstead said. A second complaint from a different motorist came June 11, alleging that Jackson sexually assaulted a woman during a traffic stop, Milstead said. He was placed on administrative leave that day, Milstead said. Jackson has since been terminated, Sgt. Kameron Lee, public information office supervisor for the department said Tuesday. So far, investigators said they have identified eight victims. They believe there are more and have set up a hotline and website for other victims to come forward. Authorities said Tuesday that Jackson would be booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail on charges including sexual abuse, sexual extortion, unlawful sexual conduct, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, fraudulent schemes and practices and tampering with a public record. China
IMPD officer accused of punching IPS student charged with battery, false informing INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer has been charged after a video surfaced of a confrontation involving the officer and an IPS student. Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said charges against Officer Robert Lawson include battery, obstruction of justice, perjury, false informing and official misconduct. The battery and false informing charges are misdemeanors while the obstruction of justice, perjury and official misconduct charges are felonies. Curry said the charges stem from statements Lawson made in official documentation following the Aug. 29 confrontation. Curry said Lawson stated he hit the teen with an open palm strike because he believed the teen was about to hit him. He also said the palm strike was successful and that officers cuffed the teen without further force. Those statements were believed to be "false and contrary" to video evidence of the incident, according to Curry's office. Video appeared to show the officer punching the student. A second video showed the juvenile also sustained a knee strike while he was being handcuffed. According to charging documents, Lawson said another officer present during the encounter saw the teen swing his fist at Lawson before Lawson struck the teen. However, the second officer denied making the statement that the 17-year-old swung his fist. Officers were at the school in response to a fight. Lawson has been suspended without pay. The teen's family has filed a federal lawsuit in the case. Click on the link for the full article

Destino
No six year old should be arrested for misbehaving in school outside of an extreme situation, where a serious crime has occurred and police absolutely must be involved. Something like finding drugs or a weapon on them. Six year olds are practically babies, many of which still write letters to Santa and most of them get excited to hear about the tooth fairy. They do not belong in handcuffs. I think teachers not being able to touch children and liability concerns for schools plays a role in police being called. If a child won’t comply and gets violent they start to panic. It’s shameful that as a society we can’t deal with a six year old freaking out without lawsuits, threats of lawsuits, or police.
Destino
Quote CNN)An Orlando elementary school resource officer who arrested two 6-year-olds in two separate incidents was fired Monday, said Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon. Rolon said during an afternoon press conference the department was trying to give the officer "at least the benefit" of reviewing paperwork and statements. "It was clear today when I came into work that there was no other remedy than to terminate this officer," he said. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/23/us/officer-arrested-children-6-8-suspended-orlando-trnd/index.html Apparently the police officer we’ve been talking about arrested two 6 year olds. Good news is that he’s been fired.
