MattFancy
Journeyman, 5th starter/long-relief type. He's bounced around from the Phillies to Pirates, now to the O's Sounds just like what the O's look for in a starter lol
Spaceman Spiff
Just bought a book I saw at the bookstore. Brooks: the biography of Brooks Robinson by Doug Wilson. I read it last year. Good book but very repetitive. Learned a lot about his history, how he grew up. But after awhile it gets into page after page of people just talking about what a nice guy he was. capcrunch98
Now that the Blow Jays have been knocked out, the 2015 baseball season is officially over for me, with the other teams I hate (Red Sox, Yankees, Nationals) also sitting home. Hope the Orioles can keep Crush and add a few more arms for the rotation.

Um, I'm glad Toronto lost but still need the Royals to lose too. I'm petty and not over last year.

TheDoyler23
The Orioles are winning... OFF the field! Anyway, We will see which players are offered the tender soon and then free agency starts on Saturday! Opening day is *Just* 5 months away as of yesterday. Ugh. pjfootballer
Like part year, not expecting much from DD. Like to re-sign Chris and Dday.
KingGibbs
Unfortunately I don't see us re-signing Davis. No noise at all about him. Not being close with ODay is disconcerting. Sounds like they will extend the qualifying offer to Weiters. I'll take a wait and see approach before I rush to judgement, but concerns are there. TheDoyler23
Not being close with ODay is disconcerting. If the Orioles are offering 3 years at setup money and he wants 4 years at closer money... An offer of 3/21 looks pretty far from the 4/40 he wants. The Orioles bought an extra year of service with that 2 and an option deal he signed the year after we stole him off waivers. He probably wants to get paid. KingGibbs
Thought I'd share this with you guys. I was at the Sunday night game against the Royals and we had the first and second row literally even with the third base bag. We were cracking jokes with Manny. Made ESPN that night. The O's Fedora gets all of the credit.
abdcskins
How did Manny win a gold glove? I didn't think he was that great this year at 3rd. I dunno...maybe the competition was weak.

Redskin4ever
How did Manny win a gold glove? I didn't think he was that great this year at 3rd. I dunno...maybe the competition was weak. Unfortunately, the gold glove has become a name competition. The person with the best name at the position is given the benefit of the doubt. Derek Jeter won gold gloves even though he was generally rated as just an average defensive player, but he was known for a a few spectacular plays. Rafael Palmeiro was a great first baseman, but won a gold glove in 99 when he only played 28 games at first and 128 at DH. It's just how it goes. I don't know if anyone else deserved it this year, but I do know that Manny is still one of the best defensive 3rd baseman in the game. The writers know that and reward that. TheDoyler23
How in the **** does Davis not win the Silver Slugger? 47 homers is not enough slugging, I guess...
pjfootballer
Who won it?
Redskin4ever
Who won it? Miguel Cabrera. He only played 119 games this year because of injury and his power numbers were down (18 HR and 78 RBIs). But he still hit .338. I'm sure his reputation earns him things like this, similar to the Machado gold glove.

KingGibbs
Does that make Matt W the first ever taker of the tender? Depends on the timing. Colby Rasmus accepted his today also.
rictus58
I like Matt. But....is he $15mil better than Caleb? No. he's better for sure. But not $15mil. better. (caleb made just over $500k last year). I get why the orioles made the offer. And I get why Matt accepted...but blah...i don't like this.
abdcskins
It's just one year. Maybe he'll be motivated to prove that he is an elite player. I think he's a much better hitter than Joseph. I like it.
