RedskinsFanInTX
If you thought that the Redskins' blockbuster trade with the Rams for the right to the No. 2 pick in April's NFL Draft(presumably Robert Griffin III) would mean an end to the Rex Grossman and John Beck eras in Washington, DC ... you'd wrong. Beck has a year left on a three-year deal he signed in 2010. And on Sunday evening, according to a PFT report, the Redskins re-signed Grossman to a one-year contract. bj252004
I have no problem with this. Rex can win you games if RGIII goes down for any time. I do not think Beck will make the team.
kappaluvacee
Smart move. Rex has the system down pat. Clearly he knows he's not the future if this team. Backup is where his career is headed. Would easily make him the strongest backup in the division.
jflow78
I'm firmly in the "anyone but Rex camp", but that is referring to his starting status. This wasn't a bad move. The guy isn't a bad backup, and he's shown that he can play fair with others. Good teacher for RG3, as long as he doesn't teach him "decision making skills". vicrodjr
Not unhappy with this. Knows the system and can help RG3 pick it up.
HogNose
Great move and one less thing to worry about. Yeah there is "Good Rex, Bad Rex" but the guy knows the system and can help RG3 tremendously. The last thing we need is a new backup sitting there behind Griffin learning the system too.

NewCliche21
Grossman > BeckWelcome back Rex! Nickel > Penny. And I don't think that Grossman is five times better than Beck, either.
AlvinWaltonIsMyBoy
I'm a Rex fan, because he has balls. Smart move by the FO.
Mad Mike
Sweet. That means the coaches can focus on RG3. Now come on Fletch, what do ya say, let's keep the band together one more year.
Wyvern
If anything else -- considering all the NFL has been thowing at the Skins -- this is a good insurance signing.
grego
i think the people that are mad at this move are the same ones that rant about reed doughty. he's a backup folks. not a superstar. a backup. thats where he should be.

Chachie
Count me a fan. The turnovers were maddening but for sheer offensive aggression and chain-moving, IMO Grossman has been our best QB of the Snyder era.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
I like the move. GGH, on the other hand, loves the move—just look at his sig.:evilg: GHH say's this 'GGH' must be the complete opposite of him if he loves this move. That's what you get when you go low on a G and not all out high on a H. Hail.
SonnyandSam
Bringing Back Rex as a backup is a smart move. He knows the offense well and can show the offense by example to RG3. Yes, Mike, Kyle and LaFleur can teach the offense to RG3 but none of them have ever been an QB and run the offense. Rex can provide valuable game input. Also, and more important, this means more practice reps for RG3. Rex knows the offense; he can go without the reps and still step in to start early in the season or as a backup. IF the Redskins brought in another vet QB, that QB would have take lots of reps away from RG3 to learn the offense. This is a very big deal. The more reps RG3 gets in the summer and training camp means he will be more ready to start the first game of the season.
Monsterfan
Concur with the tone of this thread. Good decision. 1. Who else could we sign, with our cap issues. 2. Grossman already knows the offense, he can help Griff and won't need many reps in preseason games. 3. Grossman is a descent QB in spot duty. 4. This means Beck will NOT be our No.2!!! GhostofSparta
So how much do we gain by cutting Beck? About a million, maybe a little more. Not quite $1.5 mil tho.
Supreme Wu
So how much do we gain by cutting Beck? A shred of our dignity back and around a million dollars.
