But there is still no plan. We now have no one at the 1, 3, 4, and 5 positions starting next year, and get no picks to even try to fill those holes. It’s a horrible trade.

We have Sato and Beal and that's it.

We're going to be really really bad for a long time.

Beal is gone

he has probably already demanded a trade

if they don't, he is going to kill somebody, a player, a ref, a fan, somebody will be deceased and he will be in prison

either way, Beal is gone

In fact, Sato has been gone since he said he didn’t want to sign an extension after being benched for a journeyman on a 10 day contract in the playoffs. And that was before he started getting accolades around the league this season. This isn’t football. Basketball players hold all the cards here.

We still will probably have Dwight next year.

But next year was a wash. Clearing that contract was worth it.  Otto wasnt gonna bring back a ton.  But they basically only have 2 players under contract for 2020 (3, if you count a team option on Troy Brown).

All the cap space in the world and what should be a fairly high lottery pick.  That seems to be the plan.  Yesterday, we woulda taken that in a heartbeat considering what we were looking at.

Not in this situation, because he's going to be a restricted free agent.  He'll sign for three or for years for about 10 million per year.  A 3+1 is likely.

So depressing in here. Hopeful for 50 wins to "we suck forever" -- all because Wiz traded Otto the Friendly Ghost?

I stand behind Wall. He's a stand up talent and has left it all on the court. EGs roster moves have blown up... big surpise, but I like the turnover. Moving Otto means Wizards can re-sign Sato and Bryant, right? And more time for someone else to do a better job. If Beal leaves, well I will be pissed at the loyalty. I understand Kirk Cousins got jerked around, but Beal wasn't given that same treatment. I stand behind Beal as long as he is a Wizards, he's a filthy player and getting stronger.

The smart move was to trade Beal, Ariza, and Morris for real draft picks. Tank the rest of the season. Go into next year with a possible lottery pick while running the team through Sato and Otto and Princeton ball... then get one more lottery pick before wall comes back. If it doesn’t work out then, Otto is now a very attractive expiring contract. This move literally only helps the team for 2 months to make the 8th seed, and save money overall. It does nothing to rebuild the team in any shape or form.

Bottom line, we traded a good young player for expirings and thus luxury tax savings.  It was a god awful trade that happened because our GM's construction is cratering.  And he hasn't been fired yet

Somebody is thinking defense in that trade scenario with Memphis.  Wait, they still good defensively, right?  I will be sick if it involves Beal, but have feeling it does.  If they going to do that, ask if they'll take Ian and give us some picks.

Nice comeback, Wiz

Just checking in tonight. Is it not awesome that the Wiz dumped Porter's contract for what are effectively expiring deals?

Hopefully they don't add and once AD is dealt, Beal can be put on the block for a bidding war. I mean, if we had a good GM. Full tank mode.

Otto sucks. Be happy his contract is off the books.

Tobias Harris better 2 1s and 2 2s, and he is an expiring contract. Otto is under contract for 3 more years, and we got 2 expirings and a pick in the next decade. It’s a ****ing horrendous trade pulled off by the worst GM in ALL OF SPORTS.

Harris is playing great basketball, Porter is playing awful basketball. This was a pure salary dump which is a good move. What Harris does, along with other trades like Porzingis, is set the market for Beal.
