Who's more of a bust? Campbell or Jamarcus Russell

Captain James

In 23 starts he's won 3 games by 11 or more points.

JC has won 1 game by more than 9 points in 40+ games now.

Also, the Raiders are the joke of the league. The Redskins become closer to the Raiders every time Jason Campbell steps on the field.

Those are team stats directly affected by the other 10 guys on the field at a given time.

So in that same time span the same can be said about Portis, Cooley, Moss, etc., that they haven't been good enough to beat a team by multiple scores.

Redskins weren't getting closer to the Raiders when we had a healthy OL in '08. They were 6-2.

Our pass AND run game aren't performing right now, and just like last year when BOTH units struggled, what is the common denominator? The QB and RB who were doing fine before? Or the injured OL missing Samuels both times and avergaing 33 yrs old?

Both of them were prime time players at Auburn and LSU. But it comes down to the numbers lets check them out......

Jason Campbell: Drafted 1st Round (25th overall) by the Washington Redskins

43 TDS 30 INT 16-20 career record as starter

JaMarcus Russell: Drafted first overall in 2007

17 TDS 20 INT 5-11 career record as starter

How can you say that Campbell is a bust. This is the third season that he has been the primary signal caller. He is still young. It just sucks that everyone is taking the teams woes out on him. Yall act like his career is getting ready to end or something.

Campbell is not "young". He's 28 years old. Thats the prime years of an NFL player. If he doesn't get it by now he never will. He will be a backup at best next year and be out of meaningful football.

reg. the question...definitely Russell. Campbell is dime-a-dozen bad but Russell might be historically bad.

Jason Campbell is Patrick Ramsey bad (actually slightly better by the numbers but in the ballpark) Ramsey is still a backup in the NFL.

JaMarcus Russell is actually Heath Shuler bad - maybe even worse.

Funny thing is that Campbell & Ramsey were low first round picks (35th & 32nd) while Russell & Shuler were very high picks (1st & 3rd). This season Russell is trying to get into the Ryan Leaf biggest bust of all time comparison.

Russel's the bigger bust. Russel's a diva that's done nothing, runs with his posse, and went #1 overall (though one could argue he was never worth that high a pick). Campbell's at least humble, from what we've heard works hard, doesn't run around with thugs, and never should have been drafted in the 1st round to begin with.

How is this even a debate? Russell by a mile

-He's the number 1 overall pick (this alone should end the discussion)

-Campbell is not a bad QB, he's inconsistent + he's not fit for the West Coast offense but he's a far better QB than Russell.

Russel has a big arm and that's about it.

Edit: (wooohooooo 1000 posts!)

i have to agree with gfunk, there's no comparaison at all.the only question is if russell could do any better with a real team.it takes a real strong person to do well in oakland.theres no sttruture and a young qb with a lifetimes worth of guarenteed money to play with and no structure is asking for trouble.i have always thought that campbell had the ability if he had the line to help.the younger manning gets a free pass but his line has been the best and sense they have struggled with injuries this year so has he.yet when campbell does its all on him.yes he has made some mistakes but i am not sure if anyone here has any idea the pressure and stuff this young man has gone through sense coming here.and mainly this year with the front office throwing him under the bud.portis has wined louder and longer for alot less.this young (campbell) is a true professional and it is refreshing in a time when most can't keep their mouth shut.

Is this even a question ?

Campbell is a decent NFL starting QB who is probably playing himself into at least another year as our starter or has someone who might have some trade value. Russell is a major, major bust who will stuggle to get a on a roster if/when the Raiders pull the plug.
