Ramsey Struggling at Broncos Camp

My brother-in-law is a huge Broncos fan. He gave me the scoop on our old qb. It ain't pretty according to him and the folks at orangemane.com.

"Patrick Ramsey was not that great. His throws weren’t that accurate and he just struggled overall. He held the ball too long, too. Granted, as the second team guy he’s facing Bly and Champ (our receivers were barely open) but he needs to do better. I’d say Parsons and Hackney were more accurate."

Patrick Ramsey was poor. He is indecisive, lacks pocket presence (leading to would be sacks) and was also very inaccurate. Preston Parsons was actually not that bad today, he was generally solid during the few times he got reps, but did have some issues with accuracy early on in the routes on air drill.

Ramsey still looks like a bad investment. No wonder we were working Culpepper out.

Ramsey continues to be Ramsey, there is not much else to say.

Patrick Ramsey: He is not very accurate. He holds onto the ball too long and pumps too much. His passes are very strong, but also very inaccurate. It’s frustrating because he hasn’t made a whole lot of progress.

Wow. Granted, it's real early but Jets fan were saying the exact same thing last year. What happened to Pat? Ruined by Spurrier or just never that good?

He could never improve the flaws in his game.

Pretty much it, yeah...I think those of us who supported Ramsey kept hoping he would.

Also, Ramsey is much better during game time than during practice. Spurrier didn't want to put him in, but when he did against the Titans he said in his press conference something like "we had no idea he could play that way"...meaning, based on practice he didn't expect Ramsey to play well at all.. Gibbs held onto Brunell in 2004 for WAY too long partially because Ramsey wasn't showing anything in practice. Bugel even said in an interview that Ramsey needs to "show us something in practice...anything" before they'd consider putting him in for Brunell. Once Gibbs did put in Ramsey, though, he did well enough for Gibbs to name him the starter for 2005 before the 2004 season even ended. Kinda points to his seeming ability to look less than impressive in practice, but decent enough during the game.

He's the QB version of McCants lol...

I've always said... Spurrier, CONTRARY to popular opinion, was the best thing that ever happened to PR.

He got more out of Ramsey than anyone ever will again

I agree with this. Spurrier had his flaws but the old ball coach can handle the QB spot well. I mean he even had Weurffel and Matthews playing in the NFL, that itself was the feat of a magician.

Doesn't the fact that he seeked out Weurffel and Matthews to "lead" the Redskins shows a complete lack judgement in the QB Dept?:(
