  1. Have the Fins played the Jets yet? If Fitz plays those games, that's a possible 2 wins for them. (Of course, we have the Jets down the road as well, so thanks to the Jets, the Skins and Fins could both go 2-14.)
  2. I don't know. I think 1-15 is as good as 0-16 for getting Dan to finally wake up and fire Bruce.
  3. He'd probably flourish in New England...
  4. Probably not, but it would be refreshing, since we are usually every other teams' get-right game.
  5. Good call on his likely choice of beverage. He picks beer like he picks draft choices.
  6. But when he's your only weapon, he gets more attention from the defense and makes it hard to go to him.
  7. Sam Rosen should stick to hockey. He's much better at it.
  8. What have we done this season to say we are that much better than the Dolphins?
  9. I have a heard time believing Jay was really passionate about keeping his job. Why else didn't he release a starter or two (Moses would have been a good one) to send a message about accountability the way GIbbs used to, or fire Manusky for being a useless turd? At least it would have shown he was willing to be the bad guy to shake things up and demand better effort out of everyone. I think Snyder was patient with Jay to a fault. He really gave him the benefit of the doubt for the last 2 seasons being sabotaged by so many players going on IR. But change had to come. None of us will miss Jay's inability to get plays into the huddle on time, or his resistance to make halftime adjustments.

Yeah, what's going to happen when he gets his first start?

Yeah, not proving much at all, other than you know how to infer things incorrectly.

Oh, I know the show, I just don't watch it. Clearly, that makes one a racist. Also, show me where I said I'd rather have Ben over Pat. Right now, only a fool wouldn't want Pat running our offense.

Ben has a ring. Seriously though, prior to the Draft, there were people who liked Haskins who said he could be more of a pocket passer, and after our RGIII experience, I was okay hearing that. I made the Big Ben reference, because he's a big, sturdy guy who can stand in there and play that style without going on IR the first time he takes a hard hit.

You're going to be gentle? Should I say thanks? I'd just be happy with courteous, since I assume we all are here because we have at least one thing in common. If people interpret my admiration for Marino as racist, that sounds like the ignorance is all on their side of the table. What about the fact that I also admired Doug Williams, and that he played much in the same style I was talking about?

Fair point. Mahomes may not be as quick to use his legs as some of the others you mentioned. Rodgers is a good example too, as he runs more f a pro style, but has the legs t at least get out of trouble. Kind of like a Steve Young, who gave the 49ers a good bit of both styles. I guess some of you are looking for some evil ulterior motive here, but the only thing I can tell you is that RGIII pretty much soured me on an offense predicated on a running QB, with all the read options and designed keepers and stuff. He was just too frail to keep it up for long. And when the team realized that and tried to get him to do less with his legs, he just didn't play very well.

You'd have to ask them. I don't know any.

Wow, thanks for letting me know that. And here I just thought he's been on IR since 2000. Again, I wasn't comparing the players. I made a simple statement about the styles different QBs have, and I that I liked Marino's pure passer better than the scrambling model that's coming over from college to the pro game.

I didn't know him, but I do know how to use Google, so after looking him up, I'm assuming you see QB preferences as a racial issue. That's pretty ****ing stupid. I've been watching a sport that's made up of about 60% - 70% black players since the late 1970s. If I were a racist, why would I do that?

Just how you summed it up. I enjoyed Marino's ability to drop back, go through his reads quickly, and get it to his receivers wherever they were on the field. That's what most pro QBs did for decades, and he was probably the best ever in that style (though I guess Brady sort of fits that mold too, but Marino is on the top of many polls about who the best pure passer ever was). I acknowledge the style is changing, and I know Mahomes is great at it. But I still prefer how Marino played. Don't know who Clayton Bigsby is, but yes, I did appreciate how Marino executed the playbook.

    I didn't say he doesn't have a great arm, so what's debatable?

Nope. I just prefer the Dan Marino type guy who takes his drop and then slings it anywhere on the field he wants. Marino couldn't run to save his life, but he could make all the throws and he was decisive; he usually wasn't sacked much because he got the ball out so fast. Mahomes is an amazing talent, but I feel like I'm watching a college offense when he plays.

    Reasons for watching Redskin football

Gruden invented setting up screens without pulling offensive lineman to lead the runner. Just send the receiver out to the flat by himself to catch a 1 yd pass and have no blocking in front of him. He'll figure it out...

It just sucks that if this kid is that much of a project that people felt the need to "protect" him, maybe we should have gone in a different direction. I know the Alex Smith situation made us desperate, but at this point we'd have been better off taking that Uncle Rico guy the Jaguars got late in the draft, and used earlier picks on more sure things. (Of course, a lot of teams passed repeatedly on Uncle Rico, but he had good numbers and played well in college. Just not enough scouts looked into him.)

0-6 Start, Tell Me It Can't Happen, Please....

Giants fans will tell you that it's their roommates (the Jets) who give people the impression it's a bad place to see a game, and I'd agree with that. Giants fans will give you some good natured ribbing, and maybe a little off color language if we wind up beating them, but I've seen far worse behavior there by Jets fans. And Giants fans are usually pretty knowledgeable about the game, so if you are polite and friendly, you can sit and talk football with people in your section regardless who you are rooting for.
