This run game will have a lot more of his DNA in it, and if Kliff stumbles he’s a natural replacement. So it’s a pretty good opportunity for him imo and I can see why it outweighs the Assistant HC title for him. And the 49ers needed to choose to let him pursue this opportunity, they could have said no. Which means he really wants this and convinced them to let him go. We’re also filling the staff with experienced guys who may bring us draft pick compensation some day if they earn future HC interviews. Smart, long term. I have to imagine part of the sell is that Quinn is expecting coaching moves in the not-too-distant future and he wants to make sure there are competent people ready to step up and take over. Like if Kliff just kills it (hopefully) and then takes a new job we have in-house candidates ready to roll. With this many talented and experienced coaches, they're going to have opportunities if they do the job we're all expecting. The 49ers are class, used to success at this point, and build into their organizational philosophy the idea that they’ll be able to groom replacements for these guys and reap the benefits. Given the staff he's brought in (which was thoroughly discussed in his interview) there's no way this isn't an "A" hire. I've really grown on this hire since the initial announcement. He appears to have a drive and commitment to this job that started before he was hired. Cannot argue with what he has said or done so far (OL hire not withstanding lol) but it certainly is exciting times. He's bringing together a lot of personalities and possibly guys who are used to being the "leader".
