Can easily see the Pats beating the Jets next week though given how they’ve been playing lately. The SOS difference is so close its gonna change with every little game, we can still get there even if the Pats lose just depends on some other games, helpful tool here: https://www.tankathon.com/nfl/tiebreaker_rooting Root for the Steelers in the late game! Rufus T Firefly
It would only be one game in our SOS and it knocks the Giants back a few spots. Won't kill me if they win.

mhd24
NYG just lost. Conflicted feelings as that gives them a better pick, but also improves our SOS (makes it worse). 1

Right off the bat, that's a 5 game gap we have to make up between the remaining games this week and next (it actually has to be 6 since we need to have worse sos to jump NE). Edit: as pointed by others, sos already factors in future opponents, so wrong info above. But still enough non-common opponents remaining to swing the sos between NE and us Edited December 31, 2023 by bearrock

OtisDriftwood25
There is a lot to play out. That Cardinals win was huge. Steelers and Chargers win would be good as well.

No. Doesn't work that way. The SOS posted on Tankathon are based on all 17 opponents. 1

GoSkins1976
Here are the tie breakers for you nerds out there If I am reading it right, we would win a tie breakers over NE due to them having a better division record? Head-to-head record: The team with the worse record in games played against each other gets the higher pick in the draft order. Winning percentage in games played within the division: The team with the lower winning percentage gets the higher pick. Win percentage in common games: The team with the lower winning percentage gets the higher pick. Winning percentage in games played within the conference: The team with the lower winning percentage gets the higher pick. Strength of victory: The aggregate winning percentage for opponents each team defeated is calculated, and the team with the lower strength of victory is awarded the higher pick. Combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in conference games: For example, if Team A is ranked 10th in points scored and eighth in points allowed, Team A’s combined ranking would be 18. If Team B is ranked fifth in points scored and 14th in points allowed, Team B’s combined ranking would be 19. Team A’s combined ranking is better, so Team B would be awarded the higher pick. Combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games Best net points in common games: The difference between points scored and points allowed is compared for both teams, with the team with the worst net getting the higher pick. Best net points in all games Best net touchdowns in all games: The difference in the number of touchdowns scored and allowed is compared. The team with the lower net touchdowns gets the higher pick. Coin toss: If all other tiebreakers have been exhausted and teams still cannot be separated, a coin toss is used to determine the final NFL Draft order of those two or more teams. Wouldn't be any net swing next week. , We've played Dallas twice and the Jets once, NE the inverse. It would 3-3 to each teams SOS. So those games aren't part of any variance. It'll come down tot the rest fo this week and just a few other games next.
