Telegraph: ‘They meow rather than answer a question’: The school children now identifying as animals

Difficult as it may be to believe, children at a school in East Sussex were reprimanded last week for refusing to accept a classmate’s decision to self-identify as a cat.

The Year 8 pupils were told they would be reported to a senior leader after their teacher said they had “really upset” the fellow pupil by telling them: “You’re a girl.”

The incident at Rye College, first reported by The Daily Telegraph yesterday, was not a one-off. Inquiries by this newspaper have established that other children at other schools are also identifying as animals, and the responses of parents suggest that the schools in question are hopelessly out of their depth on the question of how to handle the pupils’ behaviour.

The Telegraph has discovered that a pupil at a secondary school in the South West is insisting on being addressed as a dinosaur. At another secondary school in England, a pupil insists on identifying as a horse. Another wears a cape and wants to be acknowledged as a moon.

Didn’t we already do this joke? I distinctly remember right wingers biting on stories about litter boxes in schools that were obvious hoaxes. It was funny. It is still funny. Did someone forget to tell UK kids it was a joke, or are they trolling their teachers this time?

just in case your kid decides they’re really a moon though, here’s what the professionals the UK is relying on has to say:

The Safer Schools organisation (not to be confused with the Safer Schools Alliance), which claims to be a “multi-award-winning safeguarding ecosystem” has issued guidance to parents and teachers in which it says: “The furry community itself is a complex one, made up of many different identities and definitions of what it means to be a ‘furry’.”

It also advises parents and teachers to “engage in conversation about what it means to be a furry and the benefits of the furry community”.

Apparently telling a kid “you’re not a moon” is out of the question.

I swear some people just have no memories at all of being a kid and doing the dumbest **** because it was funny and made adults mad. Sure, there might be an actual rare case here or there of a future furry realizing it early on, but it's not hard for 1 kid to overhear this parents/older sibling talking about the litter box hoax and decide to have fun with it at school. Then his buddies get in on it, then some of their friends get in on it, and so on.

Maybe we could squish her and make wine?

Hmm...sounds labor intensive.

Way easier to make her whine by posting anything unflattering about Elon Musk...

Say his name in a negative tone three times alone in a bathroom with the lights out and see what happens to you...

You all laugh but that **** is going on where I live.

of course it’s not like a trend it’s like a random kid here or there but it is happening.

what im not clear on is how the school is dealing with it. It seems to me they’re just sort of ignoring it, along with the other kids.

there’s all kinds of weird random **** going on. There’s one kid that just walks around the school all day. An administrator has to follow them, but for whatever reason they just let him do it. Schools have gotten weird.

They live at the intersection of Testing Road and Bad Parenting Avenue.  You know, just off of the Karen Parkway before the Ima Talk To The Superintendent exit...weird part of town.

I became active in the school board meetings - as in attending not speaking just going to them all - when Covid started.

There’s absolutely strange people out there. A lot of them. And they got strange things to say.
