Fox8: Watching porn now requires age verification in Louisiana because of new law. Adult sites pull out (😏) of Virginia due to new law.

We verify ages to drink, gamble, buy insurance, enter strip clubs, buy cigars, rent cars, and for a very long while to buy porn.  Suddenly it’s a bridge too far?  Makes me wonder just how ****ed up the porn is people are watching that they need to make absolutely sure it’s never tied to them.

I would like my MILF obsession to only be known to me and my internet service provider.

But maybe they should have an opt-in program. Add your IP address to a Louisiana database and the sites can use that to block the traffic

I moved to New Orleans when I was 18. Not many places checked IDs then and this was just after they raised the drinking age back to 21.

First strip club I went to was Big Daddys on Bourbon Street. Nobody checked IDs and there was a sheriff's deputy standing at the end of the bar. I sat at the stage n ordered a drink. 🤣

My first visit to a strip club was the night before my wedding...I hated it lol.

I’m not sure this is the solution, but there must be a way.  I don’t just mean that it must be possible, but also that it must be done.  We’ve been terribly irresponsible for long enough.  We can have our fun without raising kids on smut.

None of that is verified if it's being done in the privacy of your own home.

And jesus christ, like a kid won't just go get their parent's wallet and enter their information to get around this.  You don't even need a fake ID or anything.  It's so much easier.

It's not like these are 5 year olds looking at porn.  Most likely kids are going to be 10+ (and that is even young) and extremely capable of going into mommy and daddy's wallet for 2 minutes to get some information.

This is a terrible solution lol.

Last month, Louisiana became the first state to require an ID from residents to access pornography online. Since then, seven states have rushed to follow in Louisiana’s footsteps. According to a tracker from Free Speech Coalition, Florida, Kansas, South Dakota, and West Virginia introduced similar laws, and laws in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Virginia are seemingly closest to passing. If passed, some of these laws could be enforced promptly, while some bills in states like Florida and Mississippi specify that they wouldn’t take effect until July.

But they're old enough to get married (If they want). Give birth. (Whether they want to or not.)

But not, to use the bathroom that fits them. Or be told that gay people exist. Or that racism does.

I see you've found Youngkin's reelection slogan. I bet he wins the suburbs by 90% with this platform.

Oh. And just to be clear?

I would love for porn to have a working age verification system. (Especially the kind I like.)

I just don't think I can believe the modern GOP actually managing to come up with one, that they won't make evil.

It's what they do.

I buy my liquor from a state ABC store, does that qualify?  Also, is this law even doing that?  I’ve yet to see a breakdown of what data is retained and who gets its, or even what third party providers are handling it and how.

Are we saying that it’s impossible to consider anything but continuing a status quo in which virtually every child in the US has unlimited access to porn?

Having kids be able to access porn is obviously not a good thing. However, I just can't imagine a system that couldn't be figured out by even a fifth grader. Hell, kids are naturally better at tech than most adults so most likely, the better the system, the younger the kid that figures out a way around it.

There's nothing wrong with the porn you like Larry. Hell, everyone has kinks. Here's a little something just for you.😉

(It may be a little too spicy for work folks)

Spoiler

On a serious note, see my sig. It's the exact M.O. for the Anti-Freedom party. As with most things, I'm sure violations would be selectively enforced and punished.

With the way the Repubs are going, it will soon be harder to watch porn than shoot up a school. One cool thing about me is that I’ve never fappped myself to death.

if someone faps themselves to death, are the Repubs in congress going to start wearing penis pins or clinched fist pins….you know in remembrance like their Gun pins?

If I understand right, you all are focusing on the wrong thing. The laws target the content providers.

so it doesn’t really matter if a kid can grab your wallet. The onus is on the content provider to verify age and if they aren’t doing a good job they run the risk of being investigated etc.

the real issue is foreign content providers aren’t exactly under any obligation to follow these rules.

so. There has to be a next move to deal with that.

lets be honest here, the focus of Americas adults is not having their easy, free, and private access to porn interrupted in anyway.  That’s the priority.

A slight correction. It's not all America's adults, just the heathens that don't believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior, Allah as the one true God, etc.

No plenty of atheists understand that making sure the kids are ok is a role of adults in any decent civilization.

I'm still a fan of making all porn sites have the .xxx extension instead of .com/.org/etc. And then making it the parent's responsibility to block all sites ending with .xxx...browsers can provide that feature for parents to use with a password so only they can unblock it. Do the same with your kid's iPhone... and if the kid still gets around those safeguards, oh well. Because of the nature of the internet, it's impossible to eliminate--or even come close to eliminating--access to a ****-ton of stuff. So parents, do what you can, have talks with your kids on the subject, and check up on them regularly. The only avenues that would come close to working is 1) banning all porn, and 2) making free porn illegal.
