Just think about this...we have the OC from the 2 time SB champion Chiefs who can groom our entire young group of weapons.....and hopefully he becomes our head coach after making this all work out in 2023. These are not gonna be your same old Redskins, Hell is coming with him.

Nice bump.

The offense in the pre season has given me RG3 rookie year and Kirk at times with Gruden vibes. You can feel and see the continuity and compromising positions they’re putting the defense in. Attacking versus taking what is being given.

Very cutting edge stuff from Mr. Sharp here.  It's like he just woke up and realized the Chief's former OC was the Commander's OC and therefore the offense would be different.

His hatred of Rivera makes him actively bad at his analysis.  It's my big issue with Sharp: he has a lot of data, but then allows personal preferences cloud the actual analysis of the data.

2 other things:

1. Dude needs to call up one of the OnlyFans girls and get a lesson on how to do a web cam show.  That was some pathetic using your phone and switching the camera, low tech nonsense.

2. His stache makes him hard to take seriously.

I actually had no idea who he is. Just thought the stuff about pace and passing was interesting.

It is.  And he's a good analytics guy.  I have my beef with him because he often takes analytics and twists them to his purposes.

But he's got a stat for everything.  I generally like him.  But I have that beef with him.

Feels like I’ve been talking about the benefits of uptempo practices for ages - particularly the ability to fit in a lot of extra reps - which, logically could be very beneficial for inexperienced guys, getting FAs up to speed, and even gives back end of the roster players more reps.  Well, I’m pretty thrilled we finally got that, and I think we’re seeing it pay dividends, including the added conditioning.

On top of that, reports of EB’s attention to detail that kept cropping up this offseason, while just generally a sound principle, made me wonder if our screen game was finally going to start working again.  Still a work in progress, and we have tougher defenses to face, but I’m encouraged for sure.

In 2 games this season we have scored 14 points in the last 2 minutes of a half, something that EB was harping on as so important. 17 points if you include a FG with 2:47 left.

I haven't been able to find any numbers from last year yet, but it already feels way different and we are seeing the benefit of that focus from him. 11 points in the last 2 minutes of the first half against the Broncos was huge for a comeback, that would never have happened last year.

EB is such a huge upgrade over Turner it isn't even fair. Its like going from a kindergarten music teacher to Mozart.

I will agree that the adjustments he makes at half are crucial.  I do wish that he would mix in the run more often in the first half instead of putting it all on Howell's shoulders.  He had 30 or so drop backs in the first half.

Its game 2. They had a game plan. The Den secondary is not good. Unfortunatly our line did not hold up. So he made adjustments and ran more and used the screen game (something weh ave not had in decades). Also, a lot of those passes were behind, at or within a yr or 2 of the LOS. Those are close to runs. I prefer to measure EB on the cumulative. And as a whole game yesterday, the run/pass was just about right.

It makes sense to come out passing early. That's the strategy in today's NFL. Pass to score and build a lead and let our DL feast. Unfortunately we've had mistakes everytime we get to the opponent's side of the field boggling our drives, or the OL can't hold up consistently, but the idea is sound and reasonable.

Felt to me that the runs EB tried in the 1st half were gaining minimal yardage.  I think part of the early passing volume was 1) to replace the run game, and 2) to spread the D (they were running 5 man fronts early) and open up the run game… and then of course not gaining chunks on the times we did run meant a reluctance to then run again on 2nd (or on 2nd after an incompletion).

Small sample, but on the first two drives….

1st drive - run for 2, incomplete, 3rd and 9 to Dotson.  5 yards to Terry, big screen to Robinson, 5 yards to Bates.  All of these plays were against 5 man fronts.  They switched to 4 man fronts and batted a ball down, then got a sack.

2nd drive, back to 5 man fronts for 4 straight plays - a pass for 8, then BRob picks up the first on 2nd down, and then repeat.  Neutral zone infraction (5 man front), then quick out to Terry to pick up the 1st down (showing 5, rush 4).  5 man front again, Howell throws the ball away while getting tackled.  2nd and 10, 3 man front, throw for the 1st.  5 man front, rushed 4 for the sack.

Didn’t pay attention to the fronts these next 2 drives…

3rd drive - rush for 2, 3 and out.

4th drive - 3 pass plays, 3 and out.

Felt like in the 2nd half we didn’t see nearly as many 5 man fronts, I’ll take a look when I have more time.  Somewhat ironically, I think their ability to get pressure with 4, and the lack of success running lead to the change.

I've been thrilled with EB so far.  Things we haven't either EVER seen or it's been A LONG TIME (like 1991 long time) since we've seen:

1. He's ended the decade long tradition of running on first down.  My God.  It's so refreshing not to be able to predict a run on 70% of first downs.

2. He's calling an offense where 10-12 playmakers touch the ball per game. Spreading the ball around.  We're not giving 50% of the touches to a RB diving into the line.  THAT IS BALANCE:

Vs. Arizona, 6 players caught passes and 5 players ran the ball.

Vs. Denver, 10 players caught passes (9 caught at least 2 passes) and 4 players ran the ball.

3. Pass Early, Pass Often.  That's the way you score points in today's NFL.  Would I like a run or two more in the first half?  Yeah.  But probably only a run or two more.  I like substituting the short pass for the run and spreading the ball around. Then coming back in the second and sledge hammering with the running game.  You pass to set up the run now.  Not the other way around.

4. End of half situations.  Jay Gruden was incompetent at literally everything, but his offenses were especially woeful at the ends of halves.  Scott Turner's offenses weren't any better.  McLaurin said the 2 minute offense was the first thing EB installed.   HALLELUIAH!!!

5. He seems to adjust during the game and between weeks.  Yeah, they passed the ball a bunch in the first half against the Broncos.  But there were A LOT more quick passes. He learned he needed to help out his QB and protection, and really did.

6. When was the last time we ran a good screen?  Like 1974?  EB brought the Reid screen game with him, and we have the OL to run it.  (They might not be able to do much else, but run a screen game, they can do that.)

My only nitpicks:

- Run A LITTLE more in the first half, but not on the first play of the game.  Both first plays were runs for not much yardage.

- I want to see Howell on the move more.  Roll him out, give him some run/pass options on the edge.

- I'd like then to take a few more deep shots when they get close to their own 40.  Put the fear of God into opponents.

I know its early days in the offense but I actually thought we would see more deep shots. OL has a lot to do with it I'm sure, but that's something that will be fun to see going forward.

I would like to chastise myself for not taking an obvious opportunity to make fun of Sharpe.  Of my 2 other things above, #1 remains true.

For my #2, I should have said:

#2: His Stache makes him look like he should be on OnlyFans ... in 1973.

That would have been the better.

I apologize.  I feel like I have failed.  A 1970's porn joke was RIGHT THERE and I missed it.
