With the 234th pick in the 2020 NFL draft the NFL The detriot lions select;

Giovanni Ricci - TE Western Michigan

Normally i would wait to do a write-up later but although a combine snub Ricci has some serious chops and his own wiki page already; an excerpt from this states;

"Giovanni Ricci was born in  Montepulciano on November 1, 1498, the son of Pietro Antonio Ricci".

Which does put him on the older side for an NFL Rookie at 621 years old  (622 in November) but his tape is interesting  - and he is a good catholic boy and also hauled in 8 TDs, in 2019,  which was good for 2nd in the FBS ranked against all TEs . Lacks great height and is a converted WR so is a little raw but with good straight-line speed and a willing blocker, should be an asset on special teams

Packers drafted their next Aaron Rodgers in the first round, so it's only right to draft the next Matt Flynn in the 7th.  With the 235th pick of the draft, the Green Bay Packers select
Jacob Knipp, QB, NORTHERN COLORADO

Stuck behind an abysmal offensive line, Knipp has shown the ability to make quick reads, and the poise to stick stand in the pocket and make the perfect pass even if it means taking a big hit.  From the tape I've seen, he makes good decisions, has NFL arm strength, places the ball well hitting receivers in stride on crossing routes, as well as dropping the ball right into the bread-basket with high-arching deep balls; it's just a shame his receivers seemed to drop a lot of them.  He played in a shotgun offense in college, so he'll need to learn to be a drop-back QB in the NFL, and he might need to work on his progressions (incomplete data there; he never seemed to have time to go through them with his o-line). #1 red flag is his injury history.  He was a 6th year senior after receiving a medical red-shirt having had three consecutive seasons cut short due to shoulder injuries.

@KillBill26 and the Broncos are on the Clock

@duffy and the Ravens are on deck

@volsmet and the Bills are in the wings

Please remember that short lists are very helpful to keep this process going. We are very close to finished. It would be great to get done today! We just need 19 more picks by 13 GMs.  Let's see if we can get this done today!!

Somewhere our numbers are off.  I have pick 237, but team that picks before me just made pick 235.

With the 237th pick in the 2020 ES Mock Draft, the Denver broncos select Stanford Samuels, CB, FSU

Tall cb like Fangio prefers.  Is physical and athletic.  Can succeed in a variety of schemes and coverages.   Made big strides last year.  Broncos hoping to find a diamond in the rough, and with Mahomes in the division, you can never have enough CBs.

Good catch - Jags @Owls0325 sent us backwards ...  🙂  Maybe looking for extra picks?  Not gonna happen!!

With our final selection, number 238, in the 2020 ES NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select TREVON HILL, edge rusher out of the University of Miami.

"Hill, 6-foot-3, 233 pounds started his career at Virginia Tech playing under legendary defensive coordinator Bud Foster before transferring to Miami for his final season. The 22-year-old has innate pass-rushing ability, showing good burst off the edge, solid tilt, bend and powerful hands. He possesses the quick twitch needed to rush at the NFL level and has the athleticism to drop back into coverage."

With pick 239 the Bills Select:

Michael Onwenu, iOL, Michigan.

365 lbs, 34.5 inch arms, dominated the shrine bowl, played great v Bama, was Michigan’s highest rated OL by pff, can move to center, can shed some weight to help his agility, has technique issues...particularly with lunging, but we thought he’d be gone long ago... in fact, we aren’t 100% certain he’s not.

We have several small school sleepers we want, we are certain they’ll all be waiting for us with our next pick.

With pick 240, the Texans select Bryce Huff, DE/LB Memphis.

Slightly undersized as a DE (6’1, 255), there’s a chance Huff moves into a linebacker role.  Regardless, he’s been a stout pass rusher and run defender with solid athleticism, a very good motor and savvy hand usage.

PFF:

EDGE DEFENDER

First Team: Bryce Huff, Memphis

Huff was the AAC's second-best pass-rusher behind only Roche in total pressures and pass-rush grade. He brought down 54 total pressures, including seven sacks and 12 more QB hits to go with his 35 total hurries. His 24 defensive stops saw 17 of them come against the run, and he did so by limiting missed tackles very well. Huff obtained an elite grade when rushing the passer and overall for the season, as he was one of just four edge defenders in the conference to finish with elite grades in both.

Damn it!  He was my guy at 244.  Nice pick!

After the Bills trade up for Kinlaw, they’ll be down to 2 picks next year 🤔

South Carolina DL Javon Kinlaw met with the Bills this week via FaceTime according to NYUP and the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Buffalo doesn't have a first-round pick, and with Kinlaw (6'5/324) projected by many to be off the board within the first ten selections the Bills would have to make some moves if he is their guy. A first team all-SEC selection last season, Kinlaw could potentially be used either as a 4-3 tackle or a 3-4 end due to his combination of size, strength and athleticism. NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein compares the former Game**** to Michael Brockers, making note of his "heavy, violent hands" and "explosive first step" as positive traits.
