  1. The 91 reskins are considered one of the best teams of all time, most Redskins fans will talk of the hogs and Mark Rypen but the big aspect of that team was the defense that just destroyed teams we were first in scoring but second in points allowed one of the reasons Payton Manning only has two rings and Dan Marino has no rings is because they played on teams with no defenses. One of the reasons QB rookies struggle in the NFL is because they tend to be on bad teams and people expect them to turn the ship around I have no real faith in Tua, i think he is an walking injury report. Chase builds strength on strength and gives whoever is behind centre on offense time to grow, and gives the team a chance to carve out an identity other than one lost in perminant reinvention
  2. I think KOC here for the next couple of seasons is best for Haskins and the young WR group for continuity . I think it’s great he is willing to come back to interview suggesting he thinks there is promise here
  3. For my money Quinn has to make the roster - he is a safe pair of hands on special teams and seems to be a solid target - i am not saying he will unseat Crowder but can be complementary - in Sims i see the same guy Harris was a few years ago - big intriguing but inconsistent makes the circus catch that wows everyone but is invisible at other times - watching Quinn he tends to find the soft spot in the zone and is a key back up.
  4. Sims has looked good in the limited spotlight of some preseason games against mostly vanilla defences. I like Sims - but when you are looking at the roster you need guys who you know can turn it on again and again and again - and from accounts Sims is - as you would expect a rookie to be - inconsistent - if he makes the team you are carrying him - unless he can make plays on special teams (i think of him as Mo Harris... who this year has found constancy but seems injured a lot) If Quinn has carved out a spot as the primary PR then that is why he is safe .. Crowder was BAD as PR (two muffed punts last year ?) and it limits what he can do on the offence as a feature player - i remember them looking for replacements for a while now.
  5. I think he was talking about Smith not having much to work with
  6. This simulator is reficulous ... but I have leant there is a guy called Fish Smithson .... brother of Shaky ... it's a little disappointing to find out he is anthony ... but actually sounds a good big 12 prospect for the mid rounds ... http://m.kansan.com/sports/the-evolution-of-fish-smithson-from-spectator-to-ku-s/article_6def58cc-61d9-11e6-9a84-7735701e3bfa.html?mode=jqm
  7. One thing I think that goes against us is we have as a team a reputation for having players of reputation (names) on the squad (so to speak) - And we also have a tendancy for those players to draw attention to themselves for things off the field - So yes you can see that refs might go in with preconceived opinions... And then you get players with reputations - Merriwether for example got a flag, fine and suspension for sneezing at a receiver... Mark Carriers carrier was ended because he drew penalties every time he stepped on the field ... DeAngelo Hall got ejected from a game because the referee did not like him becvause of comments he had made previously ... the list goes on But it is not an over arching conspiracy it is a shockingly consistent level of ineptitude ... but one thing that is still surprising is we still do not have full time refs . Also i think in the game the referees should be named in the pregame announcements . How can we expect these guys to approach the game with a level of professionalism - if they are hobbyist officials - calling games in their spare time .

    Free Trent Williams

He could possibly rasie a legal action and potentially sue for loss of earnings - which he would struggle to recoup because the counter arguement would be that instead of a 4 game suspension he would serve a 4 game fine - although it might affect incentives (e.g. pro bowl appearance etc) but following such action would not get him back on the field any quicker. This is a very large mess . I cannot blame Trent one bit for this but the NFL, the NFLPA have really hosed him on this and should be doing something to put it right - given this is not a failed test but a missed test - This is not a technicality this is incompetence
  9. Having been there the penalties played a HUGE part in the game throughout the game - The Bengals just simply would not have been in the game had it not been for the penalties - and yes some of that is us not being disciplined but what annoyed me was the blatant no calls on the Bengals until late late in the game .... The bengals offence was getting away with all kinds of things - not one penalty called for illegal shifts (of which there were many) holding, false starts - Conversly when it came to the Redskins i joked to my friend we should have had a penalty bingo card because some of the calls i have never heard of .( I am also still unsure how hood was called for defensive holding on a running play) What did strike me was how the refs realised things were getting out of hand as following a play just as he went to announce the penalty (hands to the face i think) the entire stadium erupted in boos . Personally i do think referees should be able to pick up flags without any repercussions . if a line judge sees - a hold that as the play unfolds would have had no impact on the play what so eve r- for instance when a DB is being held at the point a guy is getting tackled 25 yards away on the other side of the field - Yes it is a penalty but there was no way the guy who was being held was going to make an impact on the play then pick the flag up again. Penalties are there to put right what was wrong - it is why for example pass interference should always be a point of infringement penalty because the penalty addresses the fact that if the receiver had not been interfered with then he could have made the catch- (If it was a 15 yard penalty then it would pretty much eliminate any pass greater than 20 yards because the penalty would be less than the gain and a DB i would simply grab the receiver any time he looked like he was going to catch the ball.) - Or offensive holding should be a 10 yard penalty because the assumption is without the hold the Qb would have been sacked for a loss of yards - but calling a WR holding someone 20 + yards away from the play - what is that putting right? Some officials get this and let the game flow - and it is fine if all the officials are on the same page. BUT to many are rules lawyers and if something is wrong in accordance with the word of the rule then it is wrong and should always draw a flag . Then of course you have the officials who straight up don't like specific players and they will call anything to get a rise out of them - as what happened with Deangelo Hall a few years ago . What would be idea would be the rules of the game should be applied subjectively as they apply to the flow of the game. However then you would have to ensure all referees see the game the same way and fr that you would need full time professional referees - which is apparently impossible
  10. That was a really good read TSO. Thanks . I think people are all to keen to point out the perceived problems . I can imagine them being real problems too but I take the wait and see approach . I do think the issues against the run were not just down to the guys on the line. Not having street free agents converted wide receivers etc playing in the secondary is going to help the scheme . But people like I panic

Cut or Keep - RB Edition

I really like Kelly because he can pass block . Brown was impressive but againt who ? But it there are tough cuts comming and I think is a shuffle . Do we need 3 qbs, 9ol etc to keep a brown then you might loose Paulsen or Everet ...
  12. I really think you need to take a pill or something becaue TK wasn't being nasty just stating the truth you can support the team without forking over the $$$ its called self responsiblity... and the way you tell it the Skins charge much more for everything than other teams which is BS... it may be on the upper end but that is to be expected with such a large and loyal fan base but the average prices are not the NFL highest . The thing that i would like to see less off is the anti snyder people hi-jacking every single thread on the board (one that is backed by Dan Synder and the Redskins organisation)to take a swipe at the FO ... we know your possition and nothing anyone ever says will change that a ood for you but could you not just let everyone else get on with other issues ..
