!!!!0mgz!!!! Trent Williams finally showed up

Recommended Posts

Part of me says "F" Trent Williams if he doesn't want to be here send his dumb ass packing and the rational part of me says "wait a second" this is the most consistent and probably best player we have had the past 9 years, Maybe upper management should be listening to this guy , Yes ?!

Right now all the focus should be on re-signing Scherff. If he's on board long term then obviously he doesn't share the same sentiment as Trent. I love Trent and if it was about money I'd move on. But if it's more than that then the dude needs to man up and take a stance one way or another. Either he wants to be here and he comes to camp or he gives the team an ultimatum and then we can move on from this. All he's doing now is further stirring up the pot of dysfunction. He's trying to hold the problems of the team accountable by being a problem himself.

I like your thoughts on Brandon Scherff no so much on Trent. This isn't a guy who has a history of being a distraction or problem player or a vocal big mouth, Did you even read my post ? All he has done since he has come here (9 years ago) is perform and do his job. If Trent is saying something is seriously off with the staff I think we & more importantly Upper management should be listing especially when you consider our track record when it comes to injuries. This is a no brainer

So, it's not about the money. Money might end up being part of the solution, but it's about something else. At this time we are speculating it's the medical, which was first reported by Jason LaCanfora on June 5th.

All the same, Bruce Allen said on June 7th he knew what the 'truth' was about what Trent wanted. He's had almost 2 months to work with their side to get a solution in place and based on Trent's holdout, it's not enough.

Come on Bruce, get working on a solution. Sitting back saying 'he's under contract and should be here' isn't a way to move forward.

RE: Scherff - I agree, but we can't low ball him. Let's not insult one of our draft picks that worked out. He's a probowl caliber LG. let's pay him like that.

RE: Trent - I completely understand that he's getting paid to be there, but he's also given a lot to this franchise. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and hold out hope that Bruce and Trent's representation will work it out. There's a bunch of hold outs going on and in all honestly once both sides put some effort towards a solution these get resolved fairly quickly.

While that's true, all of the others are about money. Not that we the fans deserve any clarification from either side but it would be nice to know what the true intention behind the holdout is. If it's money, that's solvable. If Trent has a bigger issue with the training staff, Allen etc then that doesn't sound like there can be any sort of resolution. This passive aggressive stance is only hurting everyone involved in the organization from the team to the fans.

I don't know if the medical staff is completely at fault or not, in this particular situation.  But being the most injured team two years in a row screams for an overhaul imo.  With that said, considering this was a scare in the off-season and it was dealing with the removal of a growth on his head.  I would imagine that the medical staff does not include an oncologist (just my speculation) and even if it did, the only way to confirm if it was malignant would be to do a biopsy and send it to the lab for testing.

Is it possible that they told him to go to an oncologist/specialist to confirm if it was something to worry about and if surgery was needed?  I think it is.  Could have it been a combination of both, where they told him they didn't think it was anything to worry about and could probably be put off, but if he wanted to seek out a second opinion with a specialist he should do that.

Who on the medical staff discussed that with him?  Jim the trainer that specializes in sports medicine?  The actual team physician who does not specialize in oncology or even dermatology?

I just find it hard to believe that any licensed physician on the medical staff wouldn't advise him to see a specialist if he was worried about the growth while letting him know that the only way to know if it's cancerous is to see a specialist and get a biopsy done or move forward with surgery immediately so they don't risk any chances.  They have an ethical obligation to their patients.

As far as what to do with him.  I say start talking to other teams about a possible trade and pull the trigger if the haul is something substantial.  He's getting older, missing games, etc.  I love him as a player, but if the haul is right, move him and draft his replacement in the 2020 draft.

Well... except for the two times he got suspended.

And, yes, if Trent has something to say about the medical staff then say something. Not showing up isn't really saying all that much. What does he want, an apology? the entire staff fired?

JLC False tweet about TW getting tossed.

Assuming you are pointing this out as JLC getting it wrong. For others that may not remember or think to look it up - while it was initially announced that Williams was ejected, it was actually Chris Baker and Philys Jason Peters who were ejected.  It was hit by Baker on Foles that pissed Peters off and the brawl started. So William's was not actually ejected. He had nothing to do with the play on the ensuing brawl.

The initial announcement was Baker and Williams were tossed. But the referees corrected it to be Baker and Peters - offsetting penalties but both players disqualified.

So JLC jumped all over it calling TW a "turd" - I am trusting the quote above as I do not follow twitter - was it maybe a fake twitter account?

@goskins10 that’s right!! I actually did google it right after i saw that post from TK and saw this redskins twitter post from that game that also said Trent was ejected, so i figured that was actually the case and had just forgotten....but i do remember now. that was the mistake the refs had made and then immediately corrected 😂

how does having a makeshift oline, currently, affect our D-line's ability to improve?

If the O is going 3 and out all the time because the line is getting blown up, that puts way to much pressure on the D to be effective.

If our O is going 3 and out all the time because the line is getting blown up, that puts pressure on coaches, and they usually wilt. Everything they practiced on offense is failing and players are looking at them like what the ****. So on a day our O is going 3 and out, I want our defense to go for 3 and outs as well. Be aggressive, and keep giving the ball back to our O in good field position, and do all they can to support the offense. Give them chances, momentum, energy...

But I think the record will show our defense instead goes bend don't break like clockwork, and slows the game down to keep total scoring to a minimum, at the expense of giving up long drives all game long. 9 yards on first and 99 yard drives rule the day.  Give up 500 yards and lose 19-3.  It is literally the least amount of pressure the D will face since they are taking no chances.  No complicated calls to digest, no stunts, no blitzes, no 1 on 1 deep coverage to blow.. it's as simple and pressure free as defense gets, for they have conceded giving up 17 points before the game even starts.

The pressure is actually on the offense as they now have to score 17-20 points in a very limited number of drives, after standing cold on the sideline, vs a defense that is not tired in the least. All the offense has going for them is plenty of time to burn that weeks play set on the sidelines, and draft up a new. Of course, the opposition DC knows change is coming, and has more than enough time to adjust themselves.

I am just wondering if this is more than just about money - but it might not be team associated. I am just wondering if it is related to the lump he had removed but maybe it was more of a health scare than has been reported - because when it was first talked about it seemed fairly damn serious ... then it became nothing. But if it was cancer, i have no idea on Williams family history with cancer, i have no idea how serious they thought this might do - and yes Williams faces the fear of life changing injury every time he steps on the field but to be in your mid 30s a millionaire multiple times over in the twighlight of your career and then suddenly the big C is in your life, I can see how this changes peoples life priorities - and maybe, just maybe the reason he isn't in camp is related more to his personal motivation just in general...

Its just a thought

So the Skins still havn't put Penn to paper ?

I'm inclined to believe it's a 36 year old vet with a lot of miles who just doesnt wanna be in camp.  I would almost bet he magically shows up after they break camp but before the 2nd or 3rd preseason game.  I think they signed Robinson knowing full well this was the deal, just to get through until Penn shows up.

We always hear about about offensive line continuity contischmoooity yet feel like we have been dragging our feet on getting some OTs in here.  The team may feel like Flowers is a solution at guard if not tackle but jeez it just seems a bit late to start to bring guys in and getting this **** sorted out.

Dare I think we will be playing games with a rookie QB's blindside at the risk in just....  2 weeks??

The Penn signing I think is a big time move, the depth at tackle IMO is the #1 concern so that helps wipe that away if Trent comes back.  If Trent doesn't come back then if Penn is close to his old self, the LT spot will be ok.  I am not saying Penn is Trent but he also shouldn't be that different than Nsehke, etc.

I don't know what to make of the Trent situation.  Some say its money, some say it's medical.  If its a money I have no sympathy for the dude unless its purely about adding more guaranteed into his given contract.  If its medical and he's taking a stance as some say, then I respect that. But I guess there is no way to know until it unfolds.

I lean optimistic mainly because Peterson and Moses seemed to imply he's coming back.  The local beat guys at least precamp thought he'd come back eventually -- I haven't caught up those yet with recent segments.

If Penn looks good, am more than Ok with trading Trent if they get good value.
