He's a huge attention whore and if he isn't the figurehead of an 80,000-student evangelical organization, there is no reason for anyone to pay any attention to him other than for his many ethical and personal failings and hypocrisy. And around this same time, Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's consigliere, helped Falwell bury some "racy" photos. One has to wonder - even assume - there was some connection between those two events. Donald Trump, more than 35 years ago, had someone make a call to help his accomplished sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, get an appointment to the Federal Court. She was already under consideration, and was highly qualified otherwise. But a call was made to help the process along. But for the next 35 years, he essentially held that over her head, reminding her all the time what a favor he did for her. In the secret recordings of niece Mary Trump, it's clear Maryanne resents like hell her brother for that. Imagine the sway Trump would hold over Falwell if he had photos of Jerry and/or his wife that could derail his career. Backing the clown would be the least he could do.
