justice98
Flake is being reasonable. He coulda saved himself a tongue lashing if he just did this originally.
bcl05
I'd be shocked if McConnell goes along with this. Or if the GOP allows for a meaningful FBI investigation. But we'll see. This is crazy drama...
HOF44
The 2 hour rule!! LMAO!! So he's moved forward for a vote, they are gonna ASK McConnell for FBI investigation and hold for a week but he is under no reason to do so. They could vote on this beginning of next week. bearrock
Dems need to shut up and stop looking at a gift horse in the mouth. If McConnell moves forward without FBI investigation, then Flake will oppose and likely Collins and Murkowski too. It's not like committee vote is binding on the floor anyway. Klobuchar summed it up perfectly. It's Flake standing up rather than a binding agreement. She has acquitted herself really well in these hearings. PleaseBlitz
The Post helpfully compiles a list of things Kavanaugh said that are very likely to be lies. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/28/heres-where-kavanaughs-sworn-testimony-was-misleading-or-wrong/?utm_term=.aa2454d28e39
No Excuses
I am sure Mitch McConnell will allow for a fair and transparent process to take place. ?
mistertim
Um....a ONE WEEK FBI investigation into an attempted rape with multiple different witnesses and accounts? That's not enough time to gather evidence, interview all witnesses, etc. And they KNOW IT. What will happen is the FBI will start, a week will fly by, and when asked they'll say "well...um, no...we don't have anything yet...we just started our investigation" and then Grassley, McConnell and whatever group of demons from various levels of Hell that undoubtedly follow them around 24/7 will stand up and scream "NO EVIDENCE! VINDICATED! MOVING FORWARD WITH VOTE!" most likely followed by murmurs of "Satan is lord, Satan is lord, All hail Satan and Prince Beezlebub, Lord of the Flies and the most high and exalted" from the other GOP Senators. And then Kavanaugh gets confirmed and celebrates by getting hammered and grinding on some college interns. The Democrats on the Judiciary Committee seem to think a week will be plenty of time for the investigation. In fact, Diane Feinstein stated explicitly that the investigation would take less than a week.
Hooper
Can we spend the week investigating why a 84 and 85 year old are in charge? It's like the early bird at Sizzler.

They did do a previous investigation but generally when you re-open it like that you retrace a lot of steps. I think if they get authorized and get going they can pull it off. Of course, the question then becomes, what about Ms. Ramirez and Ms. Swetnick?

Mitch seems like the type to call Flake on his bluff, but lets see what happens. Im cautiously optimistic that they will take this seriously. But the truth of it is, they havent done anything to back Mitch into a corner and he has shown for years he will do wtf he wants and not a got damn thing else. Dan T.
Let's have Brent Kavanaugh take a lie detector test. In 2016 a Federal judge ruled that lie detectors serve a legitimate purpose for hiring and for law enforcement. The judge who made that statement was [checks notes] Brett Kavanaugh. I think the danger is not that a smoking gun will come out regarding the Ford assault. I think the worry for McConnell is that perhaps a week from now instead of 3 accusers there are many more. Or at least others with damning information about his past. Multiple news outlets have insinuated that they have far more tips about his past than they can possibly follow up on...
