I don’t mean a first line Tom Wilson, just someone that can drop the gloves effectively from the 4th line so the Caps have more than one enforcer type.

Yeah, if they were gonna do that, they would've during his absence.  I would have liked to have seen Liam given a shot during Willy's time-out.  Or whomever else might fit the bill up in chocolate town.

Orpik out 4-6 weeks:

Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik underwent outpatient arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the team announced, with a recovery period that will force him to miss an expected four to six weeks.

Orpik has already missed the past 10 games, and he was eligible to be activated off long-term injured reserve for Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks. While Orpik didn’t travel with the team on their recent week-long road trip, Coach Todd Reirden said Orpik had skated on his own in Washington. The Capitals initially termed the injury as “day-to-day” and didn’t expect Orpik to miss any games.

The 38-year-old Orpik re-signed with Washington on a one-year, $1 million contract this summer, but his deal includes up to $500,000 in bonuses if Orpik plays at least 40 games, or half the season. Even before he got hurt, he was averaging the fewest minutes (16:18 per game) of his career while playing on the Capitals' third defense pairing. Second-year blueliner Madison Bowey has replaced him in the lineup, and he has three assists in the past five games.

Rookie Jonas Siegenthaler is likely to stay on the roster as an extra defenseman while Orpik works his way back from the surgery. The Capitals are also without top forwards Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie, who are considered “day to day” by the team after they both sustained hits to the head against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night.

Bowey's been fine! Better then fine actually.. But he's not really a replacement for Orpik.. Djoos has been in Orpiks spot and he's just too small for the NHL, imo.. He'll probably be the perfect size for the 2025 NHL, but he gets pushed around far too easy for even today's game. They need someone (Siegenthaler/Johansen) to step up as a true replacement for the left handed Orpik..

Edit: Capitol One gonna go bananas when Wilson steps on the ice tonight! Wish I was local and had pregame coverage to check it out..
