China Posted December 21, 2023 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Four people shot, one fatally, in neighborhood near Nationals Park Four people were shot Thursday morning, one of them fatally, in a residential neighborhood near Nationals Park, adding to the District’s growing homicide toll. The shootings occurred about 11:40 a.m. near Half and O streets SW, a block west of South Capitol Street and the baseball stadium. Paris Lewbel, a police spokesman, said the victims included three men and one woman. He said one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Lewbel said three other people were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately clear. Homicides in the District have spiked 35 percent so far this year over the same period in 2022. The city’s annual body count has already reached its highest level since 1997. In Thursday’s shooting, police said they were searching for a white Jeep Cherokee with a sun roof, white tire rims and tinted windows. I've read that, for example, if somebody clutches at his chest and collapses, then the odds of that person receiving CPR increases if there are 3 bystanders as opposed to 2. But that if there's more than (some number) of bystanders, then the odds of that person receiving CPR goes down as the number of bystanders increases.
