China
Already on page 3. Mass shootings barely move the needle anymore. Bulletproof backpacks hit Dallas school supply shelves The options for back-to-school shoppers are endless just weeks before school actually starts. OfficeMax in Dallas is giving parents another option to consider: bulletproof backpacks. Two different bulletproof backpacks by Guard Dog were on the shelves at the Haskell location in Dallas. The Pro-Shield Smart backpack boasts a Level III-A protection. The manual shows it's been tested against a .44 Magnum and a 9mm and passed a test with no bullet penetrations through the backpack. WFAA also put the backpack to the firing test at the Garland Public Shooting Range with John Coulton, who has been an NRA Certified Instructor for 25 years. He said he's shot at many targets, but never a backpack. First, Coulton shot a .45 caliber firearm from 21 feet away. It pierced a hole through much of the items inside the backpack. All the files, folders, and notebooks all had holes in them. It did not, however, pierce through to the back of the pack. Next, Coulton fired the .44 Magnum. While it pierced through most of the internal contents, it did not pierce through the back of the backpack. It did, however, do some serious damage to the back lining. "As you can see it put a lot of energy through the target. It bowed the back of the backpack," Coulton said. The manufacturer said it tested the bag with a .44 Magnum caliber five times and passed it with no penetrations. Next up, Coulton shot an AR-15 with .223 caliber rounds, and it easily pierced its way through the back. The product description makes no mention of tests against this kind of rifle. "Unfortunately, that is the weapon a lot of these school shootings are using. [The backpack] has potential for everything else, not for the rifles," Coulton said. visionary
You can tell someone not from the US did that, because it says, "a chocolate" instead of just 'chocolate', 'some chocolate' or 'a candy bar'. Also 'American' movie theaters is a bit of a giveaway, as well. Edited August 2, 2019 by visionary

TheGoodBits
Just saw a report of 22 fatalities including 4 children, with 3 suspects in custody. The white supremacist attack at the garlic festival south of SF barely moved the needle... I’ll withhold serious speculation about motive for this one but a couple facts that jump out at me: 3 suspects means this is not the typical lone wolf style mass shooting. And El Paso has a large Hispanic population. We’ll see what comes out about it. From the mayor: Edited August 3, 2019 by skinsfan_1215

@DCGoldPants
Hope this isn't disturbing POTUS' taxpayer funded (and paid to him) round today. Thank God the border "crisis" doesn't stop him from enjoying his weekends.
abdcskins
It had been 5 days since the latest mass shooting, I was wondering when the next one was coming. That's an unusually long time!

PCS
Careful now. That "manifesto" could be similar or the same to ones that hit twitter shortly after a few other mass shootings,(hurt typing those last few words). Video just popped up taken by a young man taking video as he rushed up to the Wal-Mart entrance shortly after the incident started. If legit,I'm saying two dead for sure. One in the lot another 1 to 2 near the entrance. Few more people being looked at nearby. No link,(won't post it),and wish I hadn't clicked on that one in the first place. Local news reporting 10 dead and 30 injured.

No Excuses
The manifesto calls immigrants “invaders” and his rhetoric is no different than Trump’s. This is the consequence of a hate-filled political agenda.
