Trump calling political allies, encouraging blaming Mitch McConnell for poor GOP midterm results, report says

Former President Donald Trump is calling up Republican allies and encouraging them to blame Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for lackluster midterm results, a CNN report said.

After the Republican "red wave" failed to materialize and Democrats managed to hold control of the Senate, many in the party have directly blamed the former president.

However, Trump has been making phone calls to elected officials and incoming members of Congress and encouraging them to turn their anger toward McConnell, CNN reported.

Trump publicly criticized McConnell for focusing on the GOP proxy war in the Alaska Senate race. The McConnell-aligned super PAC, Senate Leadership Fund, spent over $5 million on attack ads against the Trump-backed Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, seeking to unseat incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

“It would be a bad mistake for the Republicans to have Donald Trump as their nominee in 2024,” Brooks said in an interview with AL.com. “Donald Trump has proven himself to be dishonest, disloyal, incompetent, crude and a lot of other things that alienate so many independents and Republicans. Even a candidate who campaigns from his basement can beat him.”

Has anyone considered that the GOP turning on Trump has something to do with them thinking there’s a good chance he might be in prison soon?

Not that that’s why, no

but that they may help push where ever they can to make it happen, because it helps get rid of him

It's very unlikely he gets any jailtime.  I just think it's pure business-- None of the traditional GOP candidates had a shot against Hillary in 2016 until Trump showed up, and he handed them a Supreme Court majority that will likely breathe another 20-30 years of life into their platform. Unfortunately for him, he's now a liability to them.

Investigating the investigators: Dem strategists to launch counterpunch to House GOP

A group of top Democratic strategists are launching a multi-million-dollar hub to counter an expected investigative onslaught by the likely incoming House GOP majority — digging into President Joe Biden, his administration and his son, on top of potential Cabinet impeachments.

The newly relaunched Congressional Integrity Project initiative, details of which were shared first with POLITICO, will include rapid response teams, investigative researchers, pollsters and eventually a paid media campaign to put congressional Republicans “squarely on the defense,” founder Kyle Herrig said in an interview.

It’s designed to serve as the party’s “leading war room” to push back on House Republican investigations, Herrig said in an interview. He added that the project would “investigate the investigators, expose their political motivations and the monied special interests supporting their work, and hold them accountable for ignoring the urgent priorities of all Americans in order to smear Joe Biden and do the political bidding of Trump and MAGA Republicans.”

Gee. And I was imagining Biden simply issuing an Executive Order stating that Congressional Subpoenas are meaningless and that no one is required to obey them. Ever.

I mean, since the entire Republican Party has been believing that, for the last 6 years, and all.
