Trump 'is drafting an enemies list of Republicans for his Patriot Party to challenge in primaries' - and 'already has $70M in campaign cash on hand' as he plots to squeeze GOP senators to avoid impeachment conviction

Donald Trump is reportedly moving forward with his plans to create a 'Patriot Party' to put pressure on Republicans who oppose him and attempt to head off conviction in his second Senate impeachment trial.

Trump has told people that the third-party threat gives him leverage to prevent Republican senators from voting to convict him during the Senate trial next month, people in his orbit told the Washington Post.

Since President Joe Biden took office, Trump has been ensconced at Mar-a-Lago, remaining publicly cryptic about his plans except to tell a reporter on Friday: 'We'll do something, but not just yet.'

But behind closed doors, Trump is already drafting an enemies list of Republicans who opposed his baseless claims of election fraud, instructing aids to prepare primary challenges against them, sources told the Post.

The list is said to include the House's number three Republican, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who broke party ranks and voted to impeach Trump over his role in the January 6 Capitol riot. Rep. Tom Rice, a South Carolina Republican, is on the list for the same reason.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is also reportedly on the list after provoking Trump's fury for refusing to back his challenge to the state's election results, which were certified for Biden.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican who has signaled that she is open to voting to convict Trump, is also said to be a Patriot Party primary target. Kemp and Murkowski are both up for re-election in 2022.

Trump advisers say they plan to recruit opposing primary candidates and commission polling as soon as next week in districts of targeted lawmakers.

To fund his splinter party, Trump has more than $70 million in campaign cash on hand, the sources said.

@Burgold

Rubio's stance is disappointing because he was one of the few Senate GOP holdovers who voted for the 2013 law.

"Unity" would be saying something like "Immigration reform is an important issue because lack of action in this area has hurt a significant amount people in this country.  We don't want people living in the shadows anymore. On first glance there is a lot of work needed to improve the bill on border security, but there is a lot to like.  I am willing to work with this administration on a balanced bill that can pass the Senate."

Even if it's not sincere, how is "moderation" such a sin to the GOP?

How hard is that?  I see why a component of the left does want to nuke the filibuster....

It wouldn’t shock me if Ivanka beat him in the primary next year.

There's no saving the GOP.  The state level politics are even worse.

AZ censuring a former Senator, John McCain's widow and their current governor.

MI removing a local official for certifying election results.

Wyoming and Texas discussing secession...

I wish a **** would secede. See how long a state like Wyoming can go with no federal assistance.

..."in 2014. That year, Wyoming received approximately $2.1 billion in federal aid, 35.5 percent of the state's general revenues. Taking into consideration the state's 2014 population, this came out to about $3,513 in federal aid per capita."

****ing welfare queens.

Ohio GOP Wants To Go Full MAGA And Nominate Jim Jordan To Fill Rob Portman’s Senate Seat

Ohio GOP Sen. Rob Portman announced he wouldn’t be seeking reelection in 2022, and Trump-loyal Republicans are already itching to go full MAGA and nominate one of the disgraced ex-president’s true believers, Rep. Jim Jordan.

According to The New York Times, Republicans in the Buckeye State believe that running a candidate closely aligned with Trump gives them the best chance to hold onto that Senate seat.

The Times reports, “The overwhelming consensus among Ohio Republicans is that a Trump-aligned candidate would be best positioned to win a competitive Senate primary, and no potential candidate has a better claim to Mr. Trump’s voters in the state than Representative Jim Jordan, who was Mr. Trump’s chief defender during his first impeachment trial and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom during the former president’s final days in office.”

And the only thing they care about, is power.  Not morality.  Not honesty.  Not the well being of the country or their constituents.

Nothing else is even on the list.

Thing is the GOP was headed down this radicalization path before "Trumpism" took a hold. After the false narrative of "it's about taxes" was lifted from the Tea Party movement it has been a non-stop train headed down the tracks to where we currently are.  The GOP took a populist message to an angry and disillusioned base and misdirected their anger  Trumpism is just an extension of what was already being said every day on Fox, talk radio, OANN etc etc.....as others have already stated Trump was just the guy to come along and remove the "dog whistle" aspect to the language and instead "accidentally" say out loud the true intentions behind a lot of the policies.  Turns out, removing the codes from the coded language was a big hit with the GOP supporters and we what we thought we knew about a lot of them over the last 30 years turned out to be true, but even worse.   All this "Trump party nonsense" no, it is still just the regular ol' GOP policies, just with the ultimate con man in charge.

The establishment GOP has had multiple chances to oust Trump from their ranks for 4 years, and then a real opportunity to do it for a reason most of America would agree with after the capitol riots.  They refuse to give up the the potential for the cult to start backing post-Trump GOP members in exchange for doing the right thing.  It's a sad realization, but are we really surprised?

The GOP will go full on Trump. Anyone not loyal to Trump, will be purged from the party. All future candidates from now to at least 24, will be Trumpsters. This will be at all levels from local to state to national. In the short term, this won't hurt the GOP in solid red areas. It will hurt them in swing areas or blue areas. The more nuttier candidates will get the GOP nomination.  That maybe ok for local districts for local elections, state house and Senate and u.s. house.  I think it will hurt them with governor and Us Senate races and of course president.

Remember back in 10 and 12, the GOP couldn't win th e Senate because they had nutty candidates. Expect more crazies to populate the gop. Eventually,  it will be that party's demise.

Trump wants to create a third-party,  he really doesn't need to. He can get  the GOP to rebrand as the Trump Patriot Party, they obey their master and leader.
