The Sewer That Is The GOP: With All The White Supremacists, Conspiracy Nutters, And Other Malicious Whacko Subgroups, How Does It Get Fixed?

The GOP response to Biden's speech seems to be:

- Never has a president said such divisive things

- Never has a president attempted to demonize a segment of the population

- Never has a president used military personnel as a backdrop to their speech

- This is all very Nazi-like

And they're getting called out on it in droves.

I've used the "Liberal Art Degree" example multiple times and don't see the issue with it.  I generally use it to describe a degree you spent more on than it was worth or that you will get back out of it.

For what it's worth, there's a lot of research that points to this being false anyway.

Nothing worse than a bully who cries when he gets smacked back.
I do believe they asked for a fight.
I do believe they have threatened that they will riot in the streets.

I do believe they have already attempted a violent overthrow of the government.

Come on out, boys.
Time to dance.

Ready?

That must’ve been a pretty good speech, cause twitter hoes is mad, mad, mad.

And I like that.

It will be hard to describe how loud the sound of the GOP uncorking its mouth off Trump's genitals will be if he's indicted before the mid-terms...

Anybody else think the speech was kinda dumb? Something about the optics of it, I don’t know.  The message was on point obviously but it was a little too dramatic for my tastes.  I’d rather see him give that message without the theatrics in more of a steady drumbeat.  Present the case with supporting evidence in broad daylight over and over again.

Maybe he plans to.  I’m glad he said it at least.

I don’t think whoever was in charge of the logistics should be allowed to do so for future speeches because I think some of the imagery was “off” and gave right wingers some easy things to complain about and post pictures of on social media. But let’s be honest, they would have found other stuff to use no matter what he said or where he said it so I’m not sure it really matters at this point.

I’m sure the very people that are complaining about the imagery would have loved it if Mango Mussolini had the same optics.

There isn’t a person in America even remotely surprised to hear a Republican claim even the most moderate of democrats represent a socialist takeover and tyranny.   It’s so common that it’s just background noise at this point.

yet Biden calls out MAGA fascism, and a record number of pearls get clutched.

I listened to the speech this AM and thought it was pretty good. Started with his message that differentiates Republicans from MAGAS and gives some space to someone who is conservative but not a wackadoo. Loved that he harped on the false narrative of stolen elections. Loved that he outlined the elements of what a MAGA Republican agenda. The rest sounded like a stump speech.

I actually liked the red lighting. Could have done without a military presence behind him but it's not work getting worked up over.

Yeah they woulda complained no matter what, no doubt about it.  It just looked a little cheesy to me is all but hey, keep saying it.  Repeat.  Steady drumbeat of calling them out for exactly what they are.  No issue whatsoever with the message and the potions I saw were well delivered.

Great post from Allahpundit on his exit from Hot Air. He'll be writing for the Dispatch (Steve Hayes/Jonah Goldberg) under his true name, but will be paywalled. Be interesting to find out who he is:

I would rather fail as a writer than succeed if success means being some demagogue’s footstool. To the extent my work at Hot Air has made that clear, I’m happy with it.

Never forget, it’s not the 30 percent of Trump worshipers within the party who brought the GOP to what it is. It’s the next 50 percent, the look-what-the-libs-made-me-do zombie partisans, who could have said no but didn’t. I said no. Put it on my tombstone.

divisive is their new word for anything that holds them accountable or even just disagrees with them.  So the options are let them be horrible without complaint, or risk being labeled divisive.  Easy choice.

As some may remember, circa 2014 or so, Obama was labeled the “Most divisive” president.  While he was being accused of setting up FEMA death camps and plotting to bring a holocaust to Texas.

The governor of Texas actually sent his state police to monitor a military exercise because republicans were convinced Obama was going to invade Texas.  So this wasn’t just some internet conspiracy thing.  lol
