Like from out of town, or local CSN? How much $$? Never heard of Vue.. Does it work on PS3? I'll have to google it.. No way will I watch the Pens raise another SC banner. We should just forfeit the game. On second thought, let the players see what they've blown once again. Maybe for once it will actually light a fire under their ass to win a cup. As far as our home opener, if I were there, I'd be arrested for trespassing and arson. Count me in the minority who think the President's Trophy is something to be proud of. Not the trophy we all wanted, but to be hands down the best team in the league for the better part of six months is nothing to sneeze at (particularly for longtime fans who remember the Save the Caps campaign and the painful rebuild 10 years ago. I've been rooting for this team since 1981. Minor flags and banners would cut it 25 years ago, but not now. I don't care about division titles or who had the most points to end the season. Different perspectives, and I understand where you're coming from. The division banners (especially the Southeast) are a waste of space, but the Presidents Trophy symbolizes a season in which you truly were dominant. I went to almost every home game last year and watched the Caps cut through the regular season unlike any of my teams since the '91 Skins. For me, ending with a rough 2 weeks against a Pens team that was clearly hot at the right time (as is the case with every Cup winner) was brutal, but I'd be cheating myself if I just tossed out the great 6 months which preceded it. I still don't think I'll watch the opening night. I don't want to see Pittsburgh raise another banner and the game is on NBCSN, which will be SO BIASED, it will make it unwatchable. I think the league stuck it to us when they had us opening in Pittsburgh. It was definitely on purpose. Anyway, I let the subscription renew for NHL Center Ice. I guess I'm going to watch the games this year as I really do enjoy watching hockey. It's my second favorite sport behind football. I'm going to right a short letter to the Capitals: Dear Caps, I know you can win games in the regular season. So what? I don't care about worthless division or President's trophy banners. I don't care about Vezina trophies or Richard trophies. You have one goal to accomplish. Win a Stanley Cup. Don't do that and everything else is meaningless. Please do your job and win a cup. Sincerely, pjfootballer (fan since 81') Well, I'm sure they'll try real hard for you The worthless Vezina trophy means they have arguably the best goalie in hockey, the worthless Richard trophy means they have the best goal scorer in hockey (for the past 4 years), and the worthless President's trophy should hint that there's a pretty solid supporting cast to go along with it. The Caps should once again be among the league's elite this year. Will that translate into a Cup? Maybe, maybe not - the Cup winner is rarely the best team in hockey, but rather the teams that gets hot at the right time. I mean, the Caps are a great team and have a very good shot at winning it all this year, but statistically speaking, there's an even greater chance that they won't (considering there are 6 - 8 other teams that are legitimate contenders). So if their entire season hinges on them winning the Cup, why bother with the regular season, or hell, even the first couple rounds of the playoffs? BTW, Ovie won 6 Richards. "Worthless" to you, but pretty cool for those of us who have gotten to see him play over the years and will get to say we followed the best goal scorer of this generation. And I'm not trying to say individual awards and Presidents trophies trump a Stanley Cup. Like you, I'm a longtime fan. I go to most home games and I watch all the others, and I'd give anything to see them win a Cup. But to discard an entire 82-game season because you're not happy with what happens in June is setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment. Go Caps.
