VICTORY!!!
FIRST PLACE NFC EAST!!!

If you cannot get up for this game, you are either dead, or need an IV of Viagra.

Greetings my friends, JimmiJo here, joined by my partner, Spaceman Spiff. Together we will bring you today's matchup of the Washington Redskins verses the New York Giants.

As hard as it is to believe, the Redskins at 4-6 can go top of the division with a win over the 5-5 Giants. This alone gives you a sense of the NFC East this year. Nonetheless, Washington is playing arguably their most meaningful game since 2012.

Consider this; the Redskins control their destiny and talk of the playoffs is in no way unreasonable. Win-out and you are going to the post-season where everything starts over again.

They have a few things going for them in this reagard today. The Redskins have been brilliant at home this year, with a 4-1 record. The Giants are missing two starters on their offensive line and a tight end to injuries.

On the other hand, New York have owned Washington lately, having swept them last year and spanked them earlier this. The Redskins have got to find a way to break the jinx.

Bottom line: The Redskins win and we are witnessing meaningful games in December, to include the hapless Philadelphia Eagles and luckless Dallas Cowboys.

It's getting exciting...

The Redskins are playing like they want to win this. Love the effort so far. See you after.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Washington Redskins are heading into December first in the NFC East. How do you like that?

I love that there will be meaningful games to watch on the horizon.

Washington showed a lot of determination today, both in jumping out to the big lead, then is doing just enough to hold on against a furious comeback effort by the Giants.

Gameball goes to the entire defensive side. Three interceptions. Three sacks. Twelve passes defended. Eight quarterback hurries. Five tackles for loss. That is quite a report card.

The defense held the Giants to 332-yards of offense, with 299-yards through the air and just 33-yards rushing.

Eli Manning had one of his worst days I’ve witnessed, going 26-of-51 for 321-yards, 2 touchdowns and three interceptions, for a rating of 59.4.

Of course, New York was able to connect on a few big plays to make the game entirely too interesting. On the fourth down touchdown strike to Randle, it seemed like the defense let down a little.

On the throw to Odell Beckham Jr. however, there wasn’t a thing the defender could have done. Will Blackmon was running in-step with Beckham, who at the last minute separated, bringing the ball in with his left hand than doing an outstanding job to cradle with both hands to make the catch.
One of the best plays I’ve seen this year.

But before the game could get away from them, the Redskins’ offense reasserted themselves, burning all but 24-seconds or so to assure the victory and the lead in the NFC East.

Kirk Cousins made some bigtime throws today, none bigger than the third down to Jordan Reed on the final drive to convert the first down and keep the clock moving. Cousins was poised and patient on the play, and in the game.

He finished 20-of-29, for 302-yards and a touchdown, with a rating of 114.4. It was a solid effort that saw him connect with 10 different receivers. Of course, the 63-yard strike to DeSean Jackson was the standout play, with Cousins placing the ball perfectly in-stride with the streaking Jackson.

Alfred Morris reminded everyone how important he can be. He finished the day with 78-yards on 23-attempts. Not the best numbers he’s ever posted, but with some meaningful runs, such as the 7-yard scamper on 2nd-and-4 to convert the first down at the end of the game.

Washington hung 407 total yards on New York. They featured fairly good balance, gaining 105-yards rushing on 37-attempts, and the aforementioned 302-yards passing. They held the ball for 36-minutes, giving them a 12-minute advantage.

But the statistics cannot convey the magnitude of today’s win. New York had come in with a five-game winning streak. Prior to today, they had all but owned Cousins. And but for one let down on the Randal score and another eye-popping catch by Beckham, Washington displayed a dominating performance.

The win is made more remarkable considering the number of injuries this team has encountered. I asked head coach Jay Gruden about the job general manager Scot McCloughan has done to bring in guys off the street who are now making plays; such as Blackmon, who was not on the roster week 1.
Gruden attributed success not only to McCloughan, but to the assistant coaches who are getting these guys ready.

Whatever the formula, Washington is surviving and thriving in the face of big injuries.

Today was a fun day to cover my friends. It was great to see a big win over the division opponent. It was also great to see the way-too-damn-many Giants fans go home dejected.

And boy how I am salivating to return to watch the Monday Night matchup verses a Tony romoSUCKS-less Dallas Cowboys. A National game to maintain the lead in the division. What else can you ask for?

Well folks. Time to roll. Spiff will have the photos up in the near future and I can tell you, he got a magnificent shot of the OBJ catch.

Ta!

Can't wait. Hate to say it, but I hate logging onto the Skins website because I have to click out of like 4 automatic popups. Annoying.

What I want to see today:

- Run D improvement

- Pressuring Eli.

- Offense to click along.

Not sure if we win today, but we should play well. I think the tone of todays game will tell the tale of what the rest of our season will be like.

This is a big game for the D-line, especially "Pot Roast". The Giants interior O-line is patchwork, and he has to generate pressure up the middle -- to disrupt the running game and pressure Eli Manning. The conditions are ripe for this guy to show just what he can do!

All week long -- insane level arrogance from the NY media.  You'd think they think they are the Patriots.  They think this will be a rout-laugher.  And one Giants player even calling this a trap game.

And it keeps coming:  Listening to a NY reporter on 106.7 just now.  Quote "I feel bad for the Redskins secondary, Eli is going to slice them like a Turkey."  The Giants O line will be more than fine today.   He doesn't think their running game is good but he doesn't think the Giants will need the running game to beat the Redskins today so no biggie.

I haven't wanted a win this bad since the 2012 run.  Lets do it!

Yeah I want this one really bad too, but honestly, with recent history, why would the pundits not be saying all this. I mean, what have the Redskins done against the Gnats that would say the result will be otherwise?

Until they actually do it we are going to keep hearing more of the same.

I hear you but its been taking up a notch.  The Redskins are 4-1 at home.  But the NY media is acting like they are playing the worst team in the NFL.   Among  the things they have written included:  The Redskins play like a team that just met each other 5 minutes before the game."

I'm from NYC and it's par for the course... they either love the Giants or hate them... there's no in-between.

I lived in NJ for a few years and went to college in NY.  Good point.  You are either on top of the mountain or the bottom.  Right now the Giants are on the top.  I follow the NY media quite a bit, usually there is a sports writer or two who will hedge their bets, go with a maybe or this one might be tight.  I haven't found that this week.  It's basically the Giants are a mile better than the Redskins.  The Giants will win the division. The Redskins stink.  You got some mixed reporting on whether the Giants are good enough to make a run in the playoffs once they get there (and according to the NY media, count on them being there).

I still think the kicker is a Giant's player calling it a trap game.
