Perhaps BECAUSE OF fewer passengers?  Maybe they're able to pay more attention.

I feel like “accidentally forgetting” you have a firearm in your carry on should be grounds for, at the very least, opening an investigation into whether or not you should have your right to own a firearm revoked.

I don’t understand how someone forgets they are carrying a gun.

TSA finding three times as many guns in carry-on luggage as before pandemic

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers last month found firearms in carry-on bags at a rate three times higher than July of last year, despite a significantly lower volume of passengers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

TSA officers detected 15.3 guns per million travelers last month, compared to 5.1 per million people screened during July 2019, the agency said Monday.

The TSA warned that the figure is “particularly alarming” since officers screened about 75 percent fewer passengers last month than the previous year.

I don't see why the decreased traveler volume makes it more "particularly alarming" that the guns spotted per traveler went up.

Gun Enthusiasts Celebrate Man Who Shot Himself in the Balls as Their King

Back in May, we wrote about a group of gun enthusiasts who love taking pictures of loaded weapons pointed at their dicks. On a long enough timeline, one of them was inevitably going to accidentally discharge their weapon, and on Tuesday, that appears to be exactly what happened to one member in the San Diego area.

A member of a Facebook group dedicated to taking pictures of loaded weapons pointed at dicks finally shot himself in the balls, according to bloody pictures and video he posted on social media and the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, which confirmed the incident to Motherboard. Rather than step back and start questioning whether the practice is wise, the group made him an administrator and are now celebrating him as their king.

On August 11, a member of the group "Loaded Guns Pointed at enis" posted a video of himself pointing a loaded 1911 handgun at his junk. There’s a brief pause before the gun discharges.

The original video of the man shooting himself in the balls and subsequent thread has been deleted, but members of the group captured the video and aftermath and reuploaded it.

“Hey ois, I might have ****ed up,” the man who shot himself in the balls wrote above a picture of his naked legs and splattered blood on the carpet of his floor. A towel is stuffed between his legs and a printed out copy of the constitution is crumpled on the edge of the photo.

The guy posted through the incident as he bled. “God’s caliber [.45] went through my scrotum, mattress, boxspring, and floor,” he wrote. Originally the man thought he’d just grazed his balls, but a subsequent hospital visit told a different story.

To understand why this idiotic thing happened in the first place, and why there are several groups online dedicated to posting pictures of gun owners pointing a loaded weapon at their dick besides the Facebook group in question, you need to understand the beef raging between online gun people.

"Trigger discipline" is a basic gun safety measure drilled into people when they’re learning about firearms. Basic safety says that you always keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot, and that you point it away from yourself and other people unless you mean to shoot them. ****posters love taking pictures of a loaded gun pointed at their groin, finger hovering just above the trigger, to irritate responsible gun owners.

Now, Loaded Guns Pointed at enis has made the shooter an admin, and the group is making memes of him as their king. In one meme, Barack Obama is giving him a Presidential Medal of Freedom. The group changed its cover photo to a screenshot of the shooter pointing his loaded 1911 at his dick.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday threw out California’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines, saying the law violates the U.S. Constitution’s protection of the right to bear firearms.

It's amazing how quickly we have moved on from talking about real gun control again.

A 17 year old can walk down the street with an AR-15 and it's perfectly legal.

But replace that gun with a beer... lock him up!

So many of the issues we are dealing with today are made so much worse/deadly because of our gun culture.  Everything feeds off it.

The correct reaction

But Republican lawmakers shifted gears after reexamining current law, which some said would allow grandparents or other family members to be charged with a misdemeanor for taking children hunting without their parents’ permission.

The latest version of the bill would end the misdemeanor crime of giving guns to minors without parents’ permission but would make it a felony to give firearms to children to avoid felony arrest or criminal investigation.

I'm not so sure his AR-15 march was legal.

It wasn't according to WI law.  And IL law states he would have to have a permit, but those are for persons age 21+.  This POS will walk or will get the lightest sentence available, I have no faith that this will be handled correctly and he serves the time he deserves.

Pedestrian shot to death, apparently for crossing road too slowly

He was shot dead because he was taking too long to cross the street. That’s the shocking motive a south Alabama police department says it’s found as part of a homicide investigation.

The victim, 29-year-old Johnarian Travez Allen, was shot eight times around 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Union Springs, a small town in Bullock County about 45 miles southeast of Montgomery.

Police responded to the scene at a gas station on Underwood Avenue. The shooter, later identified as Jeremiah Wesley Penn, 22, had already fled but law enforcement says he quickly sought out a sheriff’s deputy friend to whom he turned himself in.

That’s when Penn confessed, according to Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson.

So we're turning this country into the wild west:

Shots fired over mask policy at a Family Dollar

A man is charged with assault and armed criminal action for his role in a shooting over wearing a mask.

Court documents state Joc’Quinn Perry entered the Family Dollar on S. Jefferson Avenue Monday without a mask.

Family Dollar employees told Perry a mask was required while shopping and an argument followed.

Perry and another person with him insulted the staff and threatened to “shoot up the place”.

The victim went outside to see if Perry left the area, police say Perry pulled out a pistol and shot at the victim.

The victim returned fire and shot Perry.

Police found Perry about three blocks away. Perry allegedly told police he had been shot in a drive-by shooting.

Surveillance footage from the store and the Real Time Crime Center captured the events.

Gun jugging is on the rise in Houston

On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department arrested two men on a rising practice called gun jugging.

Now, gun clubs are saying it’s important to be cautious transporting your guns because criminals are watching.

“They’re actually staking out your vehicle, waiting for you to leave your guns unattended inside your vehicle,” says Armondo Clark, Training manager at Athena Gun Club. “It happens so fast.”

HPD has arrested 19-year old Braylon Holland and 18-year-old Erick Hill.

Police say the two followed the victim from a gun range off of 10800 Katy Freeway to a retail store at 2300 South State Highway 6. As the victim went inside, the suspects parked directly behind the victim’s SUV, smashing out the back window and taking two gun cases from the back seat.

“When you’re leaving a place like this [a gun range] you have to look at your surroundings.”

Armondo Clark, a gun trainer at the Athena Gun Club says, it’s important to keep an eye on your guns at all times.

“We’ve had a couple of people say they left the gun club and walked just into a corner store and when they came out their stuff was gone. These people are watching.”

Man Allegedly Shot Wife Dead Over Argument About Not Having Enough Sex, Then Opened Fire On Neighbors

A Minnesota man is accused of fatally shooting his wife during an argument about not having enough sex before opening fire on his neighbors, putting a 12-year-old in critical condition and seriously injuring her adult sister.

Jason Mesich, 48, told deputies that he got in an argument Sunday night with his wife, Angela Lynn Mesich, over the amount of sex they were having, according to a criminal complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. As the argument intensified, he said he “probably” went inside and got a gun, then pointed the gun in his wife's face and “probably emptied" it shooting her, authorities allege in the complaint.

The woman's dead body was later recovered with "numerous" gunshot wounds in her neck and upper body, according to the complaint.

Meanwhile, several of Mesich’s neighbors, who are Black, were outside helping move items into a U-Haul truck. Mildred Saulter and her 29-year-old daughter Canisha were carrying items, while the Saulter's 12-year-old daughter Makayla was holding her infant niece, the Rev. Marcia Westbrook, the girls' aunt, told Minneapolis station KSTP.

When Mesich allegedly opened fire, Makayla immediately turned to shield the infant with her body, Westbrook said. She was shot in the head, while Canisha was shot multiple times in the legs, according to the criminal complaint.

Mesich allegedly went on to shoot at Saulter, who ran inside the U-Haul, according to Westbrook. Westbrook said Mesich continued firing at the woman after she took cover, but she escaped uninjured. Both sisters were rushed to the hospital, with the 12-year-old in critical condition, according to the complaint.

When asked why he shot the 12-year-old, Mesich allegedly told deputies “he hated all children” and said the family “were not good neighbors,” according to the complaint.

Authorities arrived on scene and entered a standoff with Mesich, who allegedly fired 40 rounds at that time, according to local outlet KMIZ. Upon entering the house, deputies found him in the basement, “screaming, throwing items, and discharging firearms,” according to the complaint.

Man stealing from school construction site shot by homeowner

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said a homeowner shot a man who was trying to steal from a school construction site.

Detectives said the man had drugs, weapons and warrants out for his arrest.

“It’s sad, it’s sad, it’s a scary world right now,” said Denise Bennett.

Neighbors like Bennett fear crime is getting closer.

“I was troubled by it. I have lived in this community for over 50-some years,” she said. Around 8:30 Tuesday night, a man was shot next to Artondale Elementary School in Gig Harbor.

“My little sister went to school there and it’s scary because you just don’t realize how close danger can be,” said Bennett.

Detective Ed Troyer said a man was trying to steal wood and materials from the school’s construction site, which is a spot where they’ve had problems in the past.

The man was making a lot of noise and had on loud music, which caught a neighbor’s attention. The neighbor went outside to see what was going on.

“The subject started getting mouthy with the homeowner and there was a confrontation,” said Troyer.

Officers said the man had a baton and brass knuckles, which KIRO 7 cameras captured at the scene. The homeowner had a gun and shot the man once.

“The homeowner that did the shooting feared for his life. The person was armed and, once he went down, he rendered first aid to the person he shot and called the police and he was cooperative,” said Troyer.

Legit point. (Something I don't say to you often. So I wanted to say it here.)

But I have to say, the "Karma-esque " nature of the story is a plus, isn't it?
