NRA rest in peace

So did the Trumps get any control of the NRA?  If so, then you can add another bankruptcy to the resume:

National Rifle Association files for bankruptcy

The National Rifle Association said Friday that it has filed for bankruptcy and is moving to Texas, where the organization says it has 400,000 members. The NRA is currently based out of New York, where state Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit alleging financial crimes by its top officials and seeking to disband the organization.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection stops all court and legal proceedings regarding debt or collection, while an organization restructures its debts. In May 2020, the NRA, which says it has 5 million members, laid off dozens of employees and shut down fundraising and its national convention amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The fundraising pause and the lack of a national convention in a presidential election year was a huge financial setback for the organization, although Americans bought a record number of guns in 2020.

Bozeman man facing felony assault with a weapon charge after confrontation in store

A Bozeman man who reportedly pulled a gun on a gun counter clerk and a customer Thursday after being told there was no 9mm ammunition available at a Bozeman store faces a felony assault with a weapon charge.

Zachary A. Branson, 28, was seen in Gallatin County Justice Court on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. Branson’s bail was set at $50,000.

According to charging documents, on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at 11:03 am, Bozeman Police Officers responded to Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply on No. 7th after receiving a report of a customer pulling a gun on a gun counter clerk and customer.

The gun counter manager reported to law enforcement that Branson approached the counter inquiring about the availability of 9mm ammunition. Once he learned there was none in stock, Branson reportedly became verbally belligerent and began swearing and insulting the manager. Branson was approached by another man who told him to stop swearing and leave the store. Branson then reportedly turned to the man and canted his body to the right in a tactile stance, moved his clothing away from his waistband, and placed his right hand on the grip of a black-colored pistol. Branson began to draw the pistol from the holster but did not remove it from the holster.

Tactile?  Perhaps they mean tactical?  The editor of this article fails as a later sentence also doesn't make sense.

Baltimore anti-violence activist shot dead on city street

A well-known anti-violence activist in Baltimore has been shot to death on the city’s streets, officials said.

City officials said Dante Barksdale, 47, was killed Sunday in the southeastern part of the city.

Police issued a news release Sunday reporting that a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after 11:15 a.m. The news release contained both the wrong date and the wrong address for the shooting, but was later corrected to show the right location in the Douglass Homes housing project.

Police did not identify the victim but said he was pronounced dead a short time later at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The Baltimore Sun reported that city officials later confirmed that Barksdale, who helped lead the Safe Streets program, was the victim.

Mayor Brandon M. Scott described Barksdale in a news release as the “heart and soul” of Safe Streets.

“My heart is broken with the loss of my friend Dante Barksdale, a beloved leader in our community who committed his life to saving lives in Baltimore,” Scott said. “His death is a major loss to Safe Streets, the communities they serve, and the entire City of Baltimore.”

Erricka Bridgeford, an activist who leads the Baltimore Ceasefire 365 initiative, said Barksdale’s death is a “war cry” for people working to stem the violence in one of the country’s most dangerous cities.

Baltimore has had more than 300 murders in each of the past six years.

The violence has drawn the attention of state officials. Last year, Republican Gov. Larry Hogan proposing a crime-fighting package that included stronger penalties for violent offenders, including mandatory minimum sentences for certain crimes involving guns.

94 shots and only one hit?  One of the features of gun control we need is clearly marksmanship training.

Man shot at ex’s boyfriend at least 94 times, Orlando police say

A man fired a gun at least 94 time while targeting his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend during a drive-by shooting Saturday night, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Records show the shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m. in the area of South Kirkland Boulevard and Ivey Lane.

As a sergeant was pulling up to the scene, a woman in a silver Chevrolet Malibu told her the victim had already driven himself to Orlando Regional Medical Center, authorities said.

Police conducted a traffic stop to get more information and the woman said Vincent Lee Howard Jr., the father of her 3-year-old child, had gotten upset at the woman and her current boyfriend, according to the affidavit.

The woman claimed Howard was jealous of his ex’s relationship, even though she and Howard are broken up and Howard is married.

Howard, his ex, and her current boyfriend were all on the phone yelling at each other before the shooting and Howard made a threat toward the other man, records show.

About 10 minutes after that call, police said Howard drove his wife’s black Mercedes to the man’s home and fired at least 94 shots, based on the number of shell casings found at the scene.

The man was outside at the time and had to duck into a shrub for cover but was still shot in his left buttock, according to the report.

See!? This good guy with a gun schtick is moronic on all levels. Besides, why would you fire at someone who is that close to an innocent target. Why would you try to kill someone who only shoplifted? People are too stupid to own guns.

This shooter was an idiot.  In my legal training class for concealed carry they had a lawyer speak.  He said think that everytime you shoot a gun the projectile has your name, address, and bank account information on it.  Be SURE what you are doing or at best you’ll be broke and at worst in jail.

Yes, we need guns so we can solve our snow shoveling disputes.  Their accuracy is a little better though, 3 dead after about a dozen shots rather than just one wounded after 96.

Three people dead in Plains Township after snow shoveling dispute turns violent

The cleanup after significant snowfall took a tragic and bizarre turn in Plains Township where police say a shoveling dispute left three dead.

Officers responded to a reported shooting on West Bergh Street in the Hudson section of Plains Township around 9:30 a.m. Neighbors were just getting ready to shovel the snow when they say they heard arguing followed by about a dozen gunshots.

“It was around 9:30 and I heard people yelling and then I heard gunshots and I looked out my window and I saw a gunman and I called 911,” a witness named Michelle said.

When investigators arrived, they found three people dead.

Everett man gets prison for gun sales

An Everett man, described as a dependable co-worker, a volunteer in his community, and a devoted father and husband, was sentenced Wednesday to 40 months in prison for dealing in stolen firearms, firearm parts and ammunition that were supposed to have been destroyed at a West Virginia facility operated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Richard Adam Schreiber, 39, worked as a parts manager for a Warfordsburg company, had a family that includes a wife and two children, and in his younger years, was taught gun safety.

But several years ago, he began to collect guns as a hobby and that hobby turned into an obsession.

He was eventually contacted by a West Virginia security guard, Christopher Yates, who began to feed his quest for guns and that eventually led to Schreiber’s arrest for illegally selling handguns, rifles and even machine guns, as well as gun slides and discarded ammunition.

According to the charges, Schreiber conspired with Yates, who was a security guard at the National Firearms and Ammunition Destruction Branch in Martinsburg, W.Va.

During the early morning hours, when no one other people were present at the ATF facility, Yates stole guns and ammo sent to the center for destruction and made hundreds of thousands of dollars selling the slides for $30 each and handguns for $100.

Sentenced last year in the Northern District of West Virginia, Yates received a jail term of 14 years, followed by three years of supervision.

U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh forfeited the $300,000 Yates allegedly made by selling the weapons.

The judge also ordered Schreiber to forfeit $41,961.

This Gun Shop Says It Won't Do Business With Biden Voters

A Michigan-based ammunition shop is refusing to sell to any customer who voted for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. "We've had a few potential customers call this morning to ask why they have to check a box stating they did not vote for Joe Biden in order to purchase our ammunition," Fenix Ammunition tweeted yesterday morning.

The answer: "Joe Biden ran on a campaign built on the most radical gun control platform a major party candidate has ever had, including banning the online sale of ammunition." This, says Fenix, is "essentially, a plan to bankrupt our company."

In a series of follow-up tweets, the company stressed that it was perfectly willing to give up potential sales to people who voted for Biden. "We're dead serious," Fenix tweeted. "We don't want your money, and you shouldn't want us to have it because we're going to use it to make more ammo, sell it to the citizenry, and do everything in our power to prevent Joe Biden's administration from usurping the rights of Americans."

"We have no problem talking to Biden voters and educating them on what they did, but they have to be willing to acknowledge their ignorance at the very least," it continued. "We're not going to sit here and debate with you. We're a 2A company and these are our first principles."

Fenix Ammunition's announcement has provoked a wave of positive attention from the right. Many are applauding the company for sticking up for its beliefs and declining to do business with people it sees as a threat to its business model.

"Private company," tweeted perennial MAGA gadfly Jack Posobiec, the implication being that because Fenix is private, it can do what it wants.

He's right, of course. Fenix is perfectly within its rights to reject customers who voted for Biden, or for any other reason related to a person's politics.

So is Twitter. And YouTube. And Facebook. And Reddit. And so on…

Carjacking Victim Shoots Suspect In Head In Center City, Philadelphia Police Say

A carjacking suspect is fighting for his life after a victim managed to turn the tables on him. The suspect was found shot twice in the head inside a stolen Chevy sedan at 7th and Callowhill Streets, just after 9 p.m. Monday.

According to police, this all started with an armed carjacking at 10th and Spruce Streets, where two suspects stole a wallet, phone and car around 6 p.m.

About three hours later, police responded to 7th And Callowhill, where a shooting victim was found inside the same vehicle that was reported stolen just hours earlier. However, about 20 minutes before that there were reports of another attempted carjacking at 18th and Callowhill Streets, where the suspect tried to rob somebody who was was armed with a gun.

“Right before we found this shooting victim at 7th And Callowhill, around 8:40 p.m., there was another robbery at 18th and Callowhill where the victim of the robbery, who had a permit to carry a gun, pulled a gun and fired some shots. And he believes that he struck one of the perpetrators in the head,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. “So there’s a possibility that shooting victim who was found in the stolen car from another robbery may have been shot during the robbery at 18th and Callowhill, since it happened during the same time frame and just about nine blocks away.”

3D-Printed Guns Are Getting More Capable and Accessible

On Jan. 1, Chase Tkach—chair of the Orleans County, New York, Libertarian Party, also known as porn actor Molly Smash—uploaded two fast-flashing, dubstep-tuned theatrical trailers to their Pornhub channel. The videos were promoting cheap, untraceable, 3D-printed, plastic, DIY, semi-automatic guns. That’s because Tkach likes guns, specifically unregulated ones. And homemade guns are so hot right now.

People have been making 3D-printed guns at home since 2013. They used to be pretty low-tech, capable of one shot before busting. But they’ve come a long way in the past few years. Now you can print untraceable AR-15s, AKMs, semi-automatic pistols, and more—no serial number, no registration, no background check. Up until recently, however, the best you could do with a semi-automatic rifle like the AR-15 was 3D-print the lower receiver (the core part that’s regulated as a firearm). Users still had to buy real magazines, triggers, and barrels to complete the kit and build a working gun. That’s easy to do if you live in America, where most people can purchase gun parts (minus the receiver) online. But it’s a problem if you live in a country with strict gun control like Germany, where most people can’t easily purchase the necessary parts.

All that changed in March, when 3D-printing and firearm enthusiasts publicly released the design for a 100 percent homemade semi-automatic rifle that not only shoots 9 mm ammo exceptionally well but is durable enough to withstand thousands of rounds. They called it the FGC-9, which stands for “**** gun control 9 mm.” Most of the gun is 3D-printed, while the rest includes inconspicuous parts available at hardware stores. The files include detailed instructions to help anyone—even if they don’t have technical knowledge—build their own. They explain which 3D printer to buy, how to cast DIY ammo at home, and how to modify a metal tube in your bedroom to turn it into a gun barrel. The metal means the gun can’t sneak past metal detectors, but it also means there are no consequences for owning one in the U.S. 3D-printed guns are legal, as long as they can be picked up by a metal detector.

3 killed, 2 hospitalized after argument at Jefferson Gun Outlet leads to shots fired

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Metairie at the Jefferson Gun Outlet.

According to Sheriff Joseph Lopinto, three people are dead and two people were taken to area hospitals and are considered to be stable.

At around 2:50 pm, Lopinto said deputies responded to the shooting at the Jefferson Gun Outlet in the 6700 block of Airline Drive.

Deputies found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Lopinto.

JPSO sources say that a man entered the gun outlet with a loaded gun unholstered.

Sources say that the man got into an argument with a clerk who told him he should not have a loaded gun until he got inside the range.

According to JPSO sources, shots were fired during the argument when at least two customers on the range engaged the man.

The man was shot, but also fired back at the two customers who were also injured, according to JPSO sources.
