Larry
I'm noticing that supposedly IKEA does not allow guns in their stores. How exactly does that work? Is there some sign or something down in the corner of the door, as you walk in? Are gun owners supposed to contact the store before going in? Is there some penalty on the owner, if he carries a weapon into a business which has prohibited it?
Bang
I won't go saying anything specific, but you know, there are a lot of things that are strictly prohibited in EVERY state, and on the federal level. It's not as easy to obtain as something that can be bought legally, and transporting it is very difficult and can pose all sorts of problems when trying to get it into a place with heavy laws preventing it. This is complicated, so follow along. 1. Put it in your car. 2. Drive it safely and within legal limits to where you want it to go. Got it? It is so incredibly difficult, i am amazed people even try it. Imagine how much more difficult it is to do when it's legal on the other side of an imaginary line. Practically impossible, especially for large items. This may require an extra step. 1a: Cover it with a blanket or something. With those other substances, the law does it's best to cut it off at it's source. Seems like the way to go for other things that may cross into places where they are prohibited, no? But it sure does feel good to get snooty about ineffective laws that don't really address the problems where they originate after some nefarious villain concocts a master scheme of driving the speed limit to where they want to commit mayhem, and then doing it. ~Bang Edited June 26, 2018 by Bang 1

Is there some penalty on the owner, if he carries a weapon into a business which has prohibited it? It depends on state. In Virginia they just need to put up a sign. It's their obligation to make the sign easily visible and easy to understand, it's the gun carrier's obligation got look for and adhere to it. Something like this is usually what you'll see around here: You'll also see it with some text about no weapons. Alternatively the owner of the business cans imply ask you to leave, and you must respect that. I'm not entirely sure what the penalty is... I imagine it's a police escort off premises that can turn into trespassing, and if the situation requires something more serious about unlawful possession of a firearm. Additionally Virginia has a list of prohibited areas, permit or no permit, where you can get into a lot of trouble for carrying. Places of worship (but only when there is an organized meeting going on), School grounds (although you can carry on school but only in a specific way), Court houses, etc. 2 hours ago, TryTheBeal! said: An even better question is “Why take an unsecured, loaded handgun for couch shopping at IKEA?” I will never understand the people that let a gun sit loose in their pocket or in a drawer it's like driving without a seat belt to me. you know it's unsafe. you only do it because you're lazy. so. wtf... China
Man accused of killing 3 after judge denies ex-wife’s request to have his guns taken away An Alabama man is accused of shooting three people to death after a judge denied his ex-wife's attempts to order him to surrender his weapons, according to The Decatur Daily. The news outlet reported on Tuesday that police say Darwin Brazier, 43, of Ardmore, used a semi-automatic SKS rifle with a high-capacity magazine to shoot and kill his ex-wife and two other people before killing himself. In addition to killing Debra Ann Rivera, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said Brazier killed her husband, Radex Rivera, and their roommate, Timothy James Hayward-Boger. The sheriff's office told the news outlet that Brazier shot 30 high-powered rounds near the scene before leaving and later was found by a SWAT unit with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The report notes that Debra Rivera had twice attempted to get a judge to order Brazier to surrender his weapons because of alleged abuse. The requests were rejected both times. This is the horrifying moment a man accidentally shoots himself in the groin while bending over. The one minute clip sees a man, who appears to be from the US, expertly load a Glock then holster the handgun inside the front of his pants. When he walks over to a shelf and bends down to pick something up, the gun suddenly fires with a shocking loud bang. That clip is funny, but I cringe when I see it. I remember a time in high school when one of my friends found his step dad's .22. My friend was sitting on the couch and he spun the pistol on his finger... Then BANG! It goes off. We both sat there for a second trying comprehend if one of us was just shot. Ended up finding the bullet hole in the floor, hidden by the carpet. His parents never found out. Bang
As some may know, i work for a small local news org. We got death threats over facebook yesterday. "I'll kill all of y'all". "Y'all out in public enough" and other assorted gun threats. Sheriff has been alerted. Yay. Door locked and window open. the 'good news"... it's not political.. but neither was the one in Annapolis. ~John (Not using my moniker on this one.)
