The thing I love the most is even when you screw up and do something dumb like completely whiff on a save and your teammates hit you with the sarcastic "what a save" texts throughout the whole replay it's always fun and hilarious. Warhead36 Posted May 8, 2017 Share Posted May 8, 2017 So I finally beat Andromeda. Had a stretch of about 10 days where I pretty much didn't play at all. Have to say, it really is a great game. I don't think its quite the epic experience the original trilogy was, but its still very, very good. The people who gave it bad reviews are absolute morons of the highest order or they simply didn't play the game enough if at all. The final mission is awesome too, felt like Mass Effect 1's final mission in some ways. And the ending obviously set up some future DLC. Can't wait for it. I recently listened to a gaming podcast that did a roundtable discussion about the game. Was listening to it as I drove to work, and I swear those idiots gave me road rage. They complained about stuff they didn't like, they complained about the stuff they liked(somehow). Meanwhile, complaining about stuff they got completely wrong and missing half of the good stuff. They would compare it to something they liked in the ME trilogy, not realizing those elements were present in the game. One guy was positive about the game, and he'd done two playthroughs. I could tell him was as irked with their stupidity as I was. He tried to correct them, but sometimes people are just not going to like something no matter what. I really feel some of the hate the game received was due to personal issues some of the gaming media had with members of the development team. Thinking about buying one for my daughter since she pretty much exclusively plays mobile app games on my old phone and tablet. The TV seems like the better deal since it comes with a controller and can be used as a streaming media device (like an appleTV or Roku) (speaking to the $199). But from what I've read about the tablet, is that it's one of the best gaming tablets out there and for $199, the price is hard to beat (even if it doesn't come with a controller). At any rate, I hope they took their time with this, and have moved on from the every year release that ensures they do not fix bugs from the previous games. They have even admitted now they gave the game to their B studio and were told to focus on combat and multiplayer and it's easy to see that with the 2000s era animations and ridiculous cheese dialog. In terms of gameplay, maybe. The system used from AC1 to Revelations was the same, though new methods of attack were introduced in every game. But I found great joy in the different plotlines and characters, and felt a different vibe from each. AC3 used a different system/engine, and introduced a ton of different weapons and attack methods, but failed to capture the true feel of the colonies, the way they did Renaissance Italy. Black Flag remedied that, but Unity bombed imo with the british accents. Totally throws off everything, and instead of Revolutionary Era France, it feels like some weird mashup, and the villains were subpar.
