Can someone (MODS) tell me what will happen to this site, once the name changes?

They will obviously rebrand it and it will live on. Personally, I hope we move away from the “Extreme” part - sounds so much like a 2000’s energy drink commercial.

That's all well and good, but when you have a screaming mob and pissed off sponsors, it needs to be expidited.

I respectfully disagree.  You could go without a name and/or logo for a season or so, it wouldn't be the end of the world.  Heck, we might not even HAVE a season this year (which would be hugely beneficial in regards to giving them time to come up with something "really nice" (as Cousin Eddie would say).  So why rush?  The "angry mob" doesn't always need to get their way, right away, every time.

The worst thing that could happen would be that they rush to pick a name, and then rush to come up with a logo that looks like they created it in 5th period graphics design class.

(and I don't think the sponsors are "pissed off", they're just feeling the heat from investors.  They weren't "pissed off" for the last 20+ years.  But that's a discussion for another time. (Just my opinion)

Good God, take a chill pill man. I see that same 90% bull**** statistic thrown around by every fan adamant about keeping the name. It's an insensitive nickname and it's changing whether you want it to or not. You can either embrace the new name or just whine about why we aren't the Redskins anymore. One of those two options sounds a hell of a lot better to me.

Insensitive is scrubbing the legacy of actual Native Americans who had their hand in the current logo and have taken pride in the franchise. You'll always have detractors no matter what you do in life, but it cannot be denied that the current team has in fact received support from many Native Americans who themselves were very active in promoting civil rights. Lookup the Wetzel family of the Blackfeet Nation if you feel the need to verify it any further. 406mtsports.com/football/washington-redskins-logo-has-deep-connection-to-blackfeet-reservation-wetzel-family/article_7e919d9b-8e06-5218-8d86-d5c713ee3997.html

Btw, Native Americans, just like any other group of people, have their overall mainstream views, as well as differing views, and even extremists among themselves. Pretending that everything must be changed because some detractors raise a fuss is the equivalent to applying such nonsense to any other group of people. If even 10% of White people are offended by something, does that mean you scrub it despite the the vast majority being okay with it? This isn't remotely close to being a team name that somehow has widespread notions of a slur these days, unlike some words actually used as slurs. I don't have to provide examples, but you'll never find even a sizeable number of Black Americans approving of actual slurs against themselves, nor White Americans in much the same manner, but many Native Americans actually take pride in this team and somehow their viewpoint is overridden? If it was seen as an actual slur, then you'd hardly find any Native Americans actually using it for their own teams (Red Mesa: https://hs.rmusd.net/Activities), nor would you find any of them rocking Redskins jerseys (I have a photo from Virginia with a drumcircle of Native Americans rocking Redskins jerseys, I'll post it when I find it).

Truly, this is absurd, and if Dan Snyder actually knew how to manage a team he would've brought a lot of these people to the forefront of the organization and allowed them to speak in defense of their own views with regards to the matter. In fact, he should've hired them as members of the organization and allowed them to maintain the brand with an authenticity that nobody could ever deny. That's what I would still do if I were him, and I'd make a thoroughly transparent display of how these various individuals and many within their nations fully support the organization.

It would actually be funny if Snyder was displaced as the owner, and the team ended up being owned by a Native American who decides to maintain the name and logo.

RedWolves (or Red Wolves) is awful. It sounds like, “Hey, what animal can we put after ‘Red’ that sounds cool?”...

My concern is that they feel pressured to rush out a new logo/uniform set, and it will look just that: rushed. If you’re going to change, say, yes, we’re going to change, but we’re taking the time to create a logo that will be another classic (this is all painful to write, as I love the name and current logo)...

Redwolves are real - it’s not like they made it up. Being able to HTTR still will help with the transition and folks who fear change. We can always update our logo throughout the years, same as it ever was.

This also has been a thing for like, years. Any smart business man would have had an exit plan just in case. Not sitting in his room with his arms folded.

There is a rock band named Extreme. My first slow dance was to More than words, what I would consider their biggest hit, when I was in 7th gradejust after the song was released in 1990.

I think we lean into it and just become “Extreme”.

Since Snyder had proven himself to be a gratuitous screw up, watch him trot out some nickname abomination tomorrow and give the death knell to the remaining fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, your...

Washington Meercats!

Hey, our new song could be Hakuna Matada.

Whenever I’m telling somebody about ExtremeSkins, and my sister is around, she ALWAYS says “and no, it’s not a porn site”. Cause that’s what she thought at first

I kinda think they had some options already because this thing has been circulating for so long.  A loosely defined backup plan.

That said, I agree they could just go with Washington Football Club for a year and then announce the name next year if they wanted to.

I responded to someone on Twitter who thought that Snyder would have some kind of back up plan: Dan Snyder's foresight extends to the tip of his nose, no further.

If you made mixed tapes, you remember the Redskins when they were good.

There it is.

(Change your letterhead Dan)

Right? I kind of feel like they meant to write “Washington Football Team” but forgot to take out “Redskins” (or maybe it was one last shot!) and it came out as “Washington Redskins Football Team”.

So basically, all this "24-48 hrs" stuff was overhyped.  We're basically exactly where we were last week.  They made it "official", but that was a foregone conclusion.

This is making me 99% sure it's going to be Redwolves, apparently the college that uses it is selfish with the trademark so they need to work something out.
