Springfield
Just noting that there are apparently people who are naive enough to believe that opponents to the Redskins name aren't motivated by money yet keen enough to believe that the Redskins are a racist organization. Commander PK
that said, i don't think Harjo is in it for the money.. i think she just wants to make everyone do what she wants regardless of how they feel about it. She's a crusader, and crusaders always think they are right no matter what. ~Bang I think she is revenge minded like the fellow in that you tube video insinuated. Society will PAY for the wrongs done to her and her people, even if the Washington Redskins and other Native themed teams and their fans have had ZERO to do with any of that. Ads for a new site, RedskinsFacts.com, have begun appearing on the web sites of Sports Illustrated, the Washington Times and The Washington Post in recent days. The group’s Web site lists a five-man steering committee of former players — Gary Clark, Chris Cooley, Mark Moseley, Ray Schoenke and Roy Jefferson. The mainstream media has made up it's collective mind to be highly offended by this, to amount of facts or reasoning will chage that. Anyone who disagrees with the group-think is branded a racist. grego
I suppose. I just don't see a ton of speaking engagements coming out of this. This isn't the concussion issue, where there are dollar signs all over the place for potentially thousands of people. It seems that if I was in the business of making a quick buck, the whole casino business would be the focus of my attention. This is a month old, but relevant- http://mweb.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24597118/native-american-group-planning-9-billion-lawsuit-against-the-indians?v=1&vc=

Riggo-toni
Al Sharpton made himself a famous civil rights leader by falsely accusing a group of prominent white NY leaders of gang-raping Tawana Brawley. It was blatant b.s., it was exposed as such....and he eventually parlayed the fame from that phony incident into becoming a TV talk show host on MSNBC. I definitely see many correlations between sharpton as a person who appointed themselves as leaders of a racial group and the activists. (Although I think blackhorse and harjo aren't necessarily in it for money, while sharpton and Jesse Jackson, as another example, I believe, are) Those people wield a lot of power simply by being the loudest, most persistent voice, which is what gets things done as opposed to what's right or wrong. I don't think anyone throughout these 193 pages has thought of any of these ideas Lol

RFKFedEx
Ah, gotcha Painkiller. Hillary's straw aint much, other than the fact she's a name of note. No actions, just words 'The straw' will be the first sponsor to walk. That straw will hit the camel's back like a 100 lb bail of straw. We're still quite a ways from that day, but it's comin. Assuming no other sponsor steps up, which is pretty unlikely. You need more than one sponsor to walk, and you need a decided drop-off in interest from other big sponsors. If sponsors cause PLAYERS to walk or pass on by, then we've got a problem. it's the only way i can see a single sponsor really putting a push on.. if a big athletic shoe or apparel company shies away from a player and a big bucks contract over the name, then players have to account for that potential loss of their own revenue when considering signing here. RG3 makes a good chunk off of his endorsements.. if that takes a hit it could force issues quickly. ~Bang
Commander PK
haywoodj 4 hours ago This article is going to nab CBS some decent ad revenue for the ads: text link ads, banner ads, etc on this page. I guess they have figured out how to make money about really non sports topics because the off season is so long in the NFL these days to keep up with the 24/7 news cycle. from same link, and with that I'm done. Point made We're still quite a ways from that day, but it's comin. that 'groundswell' of opposition will continue swelling huh? lol Honestly, I see the opposite happening. I think people are becoming more and more fed up with this dumb argument and talking heads and politicians would be wise to stop talking about it. The people do not see this as the issue they are trying to make it out to be. The evidence of this is everywhere.

I'm kind of with painkiller on this- and I didn't feel that way month or two ago. Think about it- outside of the nutty activists/opportunists, mostly liberal politicians and sport writers (none of whom appear to have done five minutes of research on the issue), who really is speaking out against the name? The redskins PR dept is 90% of the reason this issue has gotten where it is, and that's only because the American public is too stupid or lazy to know what they are talking about. A bunch of sheep, believing everything they read. Im seeing more support for the name of late, from NAs and non redskin fans. I like the "save the name" movement and what the skins are currently doing to finally stand up and fight these idiots.
