hailer21
I think it's already been stated but I really don't understand the thinking behind not having Aldrick return punts. I remember Aldrick muffing about every punt that came his way. Banks had his ball security issues but I'd imagine Aldrick's issues happened in practice as well and made the decision pretty easy. ncsuFB27
I wonder if Banks will suit up again this season. Most of us believed he would be out of a job after the season.
DogofWar1
It looks like he's finally been relieved of duties and is on his way out. He just hasn't been making good enough decisions on kickoffs, and his runs haven't been good enough to compensate for that.

SKINZROCKBABY!
Can we gut Banks and pick up a Long Kicker for Kick offs leaving Kai for the Field Goals Definitely something we need improvement on, should be considered IMO.
flexxskins
Coaches obviously can be wrong, but simple logic dictates they will know far more about evaluating these matters than typical fans, and hopefully be far more deliberate in their process when it comes to making moves. Take the time to make the best decision, than make it at the best time. I think this is a sign of agreement with those of us who have been thinking Banks should go and that spot be used for another.I have a history of agreeing with most of your quotes Jumbo, and this one is no different. However, I can't seem to decide if you worded your quote more like a politician or a Vulcan.
Uptown Skins
Well I've thought Banks hasn't been cutting it for a while, so I'm glad we get a chance to see what someone else can do.It's unusual though that we have Niles doing kickoffs though. Has there ever been another TE designated for any runbacks? I'm not sure I've seen so. My thoughts exactly. Seems like all he would do is dance a little, run out of bounds or run into the pack. I was happy to see him deactivated. We do not need him.
NoVaSkins21
Can we gut Banks and pick up a Long Kicker for Kick offs leaving Kai for the Field Goals I'll agree with that without question. Kai needs to work on that part of his game for sure or maybe they should bring in a KO specialist to take Banks' spot. If Crawford can show that he can continue to do what he did in OT, then they may have found a PR. Much :applause: to Coach Shanahan for making the move of the day by de-activating Banks for the game. TheGreek1973
Crawford need to work on his conditioning. He really run out of gas the last 10 yards and the kicker was gaining on him.

Rabsuz
Poor Banks, pretty much saw his job dissipate in front of him. Not to say he earned his job through great plays, because lets face it he has been pretty underwhelming to say the least. I wanted him to have one more season in the offseason while those debates were raging, but this year he has just been bad. He has all the speed in the world but just not a lot of talent. I like him too, but the writing is on the wall even before Crawford returned it.
hunterx
Banks has been mediocre. If his replacements can be at least average, while also filling roles in other aspects of the game then the decision to cut Banks is a no brainer. Our kickoff coverage is pretty good so I would be fine replacing his spot with backup OL or secondary help.
moondog
I remember Aldrick muffing about every punt that came his way. Banks had his ball security issues but I'd imagine Aldrick's issues happened in practice as well and made the decision pretty easy. Ironically that's something I was thinking too. Aldrick is a talented player but as a rookie he knew he was out there to prove himself and his nerves obviously got the best of him even though he had plenty of experience as a returner in college. Oddly enough, Aldrick's experience as a rookie was just one more thing that made me kind of nervous to have Crawford out there. I felt like Aldrick's issues were mental not a physical thing as a rookie in preseason. I was worried for the same reason about Crawford but he certainly earned the right on the field today and that was more than enough for me. The big return at the end was huge but it was the two earlier returns that showed all I needed to see - he averaged 18 yards per return and immediately got going up the field with the ball to give us better field position, that is what you need to do as a returner. Rather than dodge them laterally, you get going north and several will blow right by you. Crawford probably sealed Banks' fate with his performance as a returner today, unless, of course, Paul equally blew his chance with the fumble... Conn
Uhh kickoff returns, lol Your comment was still horribly timed Scalla. He sucks at both KR and PR. So we're not going to keep him, and more importantly activate him, to do ONE of them. Someone else having success at one of his jobs put an end to his time here. They deactivated him during the most important stretch of games Shanahan has had here. Think about that.

Kneeing the ball in the endzone every single time and starting at the 20 consistently is an adequate replacement.
Ashburn Dave
Kneeing the ball in the endzone every single time and starting at the 20 consistently is an adequate replacement. Agree with this since Banks usually lost us yards trying to bring it out.
THEREALTOR1
Its all about getting the opportunity to do something big, and making the most of it. Right after RG3 performs the rubber leg trick we were fortunate to get the PI call on Moss. There's an opening and RG3 took it and went back out to try and drive down the field, just couldn't do it (but its hard to argue against him fighting his guts out being the spark that shifted the momentum to our favor). Cousins then scores the TD and the 2PC, and the defense stops the ravens drive in OT. Thats another spark, and BOOM, Crawford blows the frickin roof off. The Ravens never knew what hit them, because until now, we've never seemed to be that team that jumped on the opportunities when they presented themselves. You never had to worry about us catching fire. If there was a spark, we'd usually make sure we stomped out before it got to out of control. I've seen Banks in those positions where he's had that opening to be the hero and do something incredible, and he couldn't do it. I don't know why he couldn't, he just didn't. We need those guys, that when that opening presents itself, they take it. Thats how good teams just overwhelm their opponents, and until now we just haven't had it.
