Banks Inactive vs. Ravens

Can we dispense with the "Give Al-Mo cool a nickname" talk untill he proves he does not need to lose a fumble as a catalyst to rattle off 123 yards. If this continues, he will be seeking employment elsewhere as well. It's great that The 'Skins won the last few weeks but those fumbles came at such horrific times, not to mention where they were on the field.

Blow it out your ear.

the kid has had a FEW fumbles, and a SPECTACULAR rookie season.

In two games he's used his fumble as a catalyst for a great game, but what do you say for the rest of the season in which he's had great games without fumbling?

what was his catalyst then?

I hope the BUTLER does it again.

Marshall Faulk was calling him that yesterday on NFLN, so it looks like it's stuck.

I'm for cutting banks and bringing in a kick off specialist. I love what Kobra Kai has brought in kicking, but he doesn't have the leg to get it more than 5 yards deep. Jacoby Jones scared the crap out of me and it doesn't get any easier with Josh Cribbs this week.

I like Crawford returning punts and if he gets tired, I'd hope they'd put Santana back to help. I don't mind Paul, but I'd actually like to put Paul and Alderick back deep on each side. Banks, the second Dancing Queen we've had is gone.

I'm just being realistic...I like watching Morris and this offense as a whole, but the NFL is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. If those fumbles were more costly than they already were, you'd be singing a far different tune.

The Skins are 2-1 in the games that Morris has lost a fumble and the games that they've won have required 4th quarter touchdowns...meaning had he not put the ball on the ground, they probably would not be in that position. The fumble vs. the Giants last week led to at least a 6 point swing (potentially 10 as the Skins were on the Giants' 9 yard line). Yesterday's fumble cost them 7 points. In the game that they lost, the ‘Skins were driving and even at 1st and 23, a couple more plays likely means a couple more minutes off the clock and a potential Forbath chance at 3. Who knows how the last 2 minutes of the game would have turned out at that point?

Look, you can sit there with your Burgundy & Gold colored glasses, thinking the win erases all wrong doing, while carving Morris’ bust for Canton. Your other option is to enjoy the win, but still recognize that two fumbles in as many games is not the desired trend. Constructive criticism is a part of being a fan.As someone mentioned earlier, there is a reason Morris was 6th round pick…

And really...Blow it out my ear? Is that how you win a debate?

No, "Blow it out your ear" is a way of telling you to piss up a tree when telling people to quiet their excitement over this outstanding running back. it's not a debate, I don't feel i need to win. i think your attitude sucks, and told you so.

You're ignoring the entirety of his year, and you're focusing on a couple of unfortunate fumbles he's used to motivate himself and WIN.

is taking what I said and claiming I'm carving his bust for Canton how YOU win a debate? (that isn't a debate) Is taking a realistic comment like i made about his ENTIRE season somehow wearing Burgundy and gold glasses to you?

You're taking a small segment of his entire season and making it out as if it's such a downer as that you've decided to tell every fan to temper their excitement and not give him a NICKNAME because their rookie who may set the team rushing record used two recent fumbles to inspire himself?

i mean really,, 4 fumbles this season in 253 carries, this does not indicate a fumbling problem. He also has over 1200 yards, averages five yards a carry and is 5th in the NFL in rushing. He gets more yards after contact than anyone we've had here since Stephen Davis.

(Oh, and when he DOES fumble, he doesn' go into a shell, he puts it on his back and carries it with vengeance. You don't like this?)

As I said. you want people to stop being happy and giving him a nickname?

Last week we have a guy who wants fans to stop chanting RG3, and now this.

Blow it out your EAR.

Nothing fortunate about it. Kirk did what a seasoned vet does when he sees a defender hang on a receiver. You throw the ball in that direction. You'll get the call everytime. That throw to Moss was compeltely intentional to draw that call

Really? Do you remember the PI call from earlier in the game (1st quarter I believe, also on Moss I believe)? Where the back judge was literaly 2 or 3 yards from the play watching the defender hang all over the receiver while he just stood there with his hands on his knees, staring off into space? Finally a flag came flying in from the bottom of my tv screen from the side judge, as I was thinking to myself, "does that backjudge not have a flag or something"? I can't recall exactly with that last PI call that I referenced above, but I believe the BJ was literally standing there watching that one too.

The pass interference after Griffin went out. Kirk saw the defender grabbing Moss so he threw it there to draw attention. They should have called defensive holding if nothing else but they might not have so he threw it there to make the ref see it. Very experienced QBs do it a lot. I was very impressed by his heads up play and realizing that he would get some kind of flag for it.

Whatever you say, my friend. I've already stated that I really like watching Morris play…I'm also well aware of his stats, but thank you for rehashing them.

To that end, I'm not taking a small sample size regarding the fumbling. I am taking the games from October 21 and forward (that’s over half the season to date). In other words, 121 carries. Also, 2 lost fumbles in 45 carries over the last two games, when he did not fumble at all during his first 132 carries. The trend is not positive and I recognize at least the possibility that if it keeps, he is only in the league for a short time. I’m not saying it will, or even that I expect it to. I AM saying that a cool nickname might be a little premature.

Secondly, my original comment is actually geared toward why he requires a manufactured nickname in the first place. Did we call Reggie Brooks anything except for Reggie Brooks? I know I never referred to Stephen Davis as anything but Stephen Davis. What was Ernest Byner's cool nickname? How about Kelvin Bryant, Gerald Riggs or Ricky Ervins? I just don't see why Morris all of a sudden needs a manufactured nickname 13 games into his career in order to appreciate what he has done...Merely my opinion.

Finally, we get pi$$ed when non-Redskins fans and outsiders refer to the “Pistol” as a gimmick (It’s not. it’s a derivation of the shotgun). What is more gimmicky than a nickname for the sake of a nickname? I say let his play speak for itself and any nickname will come about organically and not be forced.

Cut Banks and use his roster spot for a KO specialist.

How 'bout this crazy thought. Cut Banks, and bring back Cundiff for Kick Offs?? I mean, he may not deserve a spot on our team, but he sure can boot the ball out of the end zone...

then again, I don't know... Yeah, don't bring back Cundiff, he sucks! :pfft:

I'm not terribly worried about kickoffs. We're good on teams, so be confident in the stop.

i know people point at a couple "almosts" by Jones yesterday, but flags that call plays back also help plays look like more than they are.

I know I'm always down on Danny Smith, but one thing that's true is in the offseason between Gano's rookie year and his second year his leg strength did increase considerably.

So let him work with that.
