DeaconTheVillain
I've heard this song hundreds of times, but listened to it this morning and was just in awe. Maybe its cuz I haven't listened to it in a while, but wow. I wonder how long it took to write this. Even people who don't like hip hop should be able to appreciate this song. Safe for work Song is Fame by GZA What other songs do you think are just lyrically brilliant. On second thought, not so sure if this is "brilliant," but its certainly clever. wysknz1
Just watched a film on Simon and Garfunkel..on the making."Bridge over Troubled water" Supposed to be a two verse song wrote a third in the studio.Too long for radio play, too slow and to be a good single etc etc. So I put it on and listened and it really is one of those songs whether you like S&G or not. Back in HS a poetry teacher I had spent a whole semester on that album. I got so sick of it. Over and over and over..Me and my buddies were more into Steppenwolf, Ten Years After Hendrix and all too cool for S&G. Well now that I've gotten older and let it sit for a long while I can appreciate it more.

Califan007 The Constipated
Four from Prince: When I Lay My Hands On U Are you ready for the touch that makes you go insane Breast to lips to cheek to mane I'll pull your hair You'll feel no pain Are you ready for the only forever we'll both obtain The only joy in this forsaken game You'll feel ashamed and ordained When I lay my hands on you Pheromone Her eyes are closed But there's no penetration He just makes her point the pistol 2 his nose While he masturbates And now I see a tear Heading down towards her smile What happens next It all depends upon your style Annie Christian Annie Christian wanted To be number 1 But her kingdom never comes Thy will be done She couldn't stand the glory She would be 2nd to none The way Annie tells the story, she's His only son Annie Christian wanted To be a big star So she moved to Atlanta And she bought a blue car She killed black children, and what's fair is fair If you try and say you're crazy, everybody say electric chair Electric chair! Califan007 The Constipated
Four from Crowded House Hole In The River (the song is about the lead singer/songwriter's aunt's suicide) There's a hole in the river where my auntie lies From the land of the living to the air and sky Left her car by the river Left her shoes beside Through the thorns and the bushes I hope she was... Dreaming of glory Miles above the mountains and plains Free at last We were touched by a cold wind, my father and I The sound of desperate breathing Her fear inside us all She was coming to see him But something changed her mind Drove her down to the river There is no return Into Temptation (about a married man dealing with the temptation of another woman) You opened up your door I couldn't believe my luck You in your new blue dress Taking away my breath The cradle is soft and warm Couldn't do me no harm You're showing me how to give Into temptation Knowing full well the earth will rebel Into temptation A muddle of nervous words Could never amount to betrayal The sentence is all my own The price is to watch it fail As I turn to go You looked at me for half a second With an open invitation For me to go... Into temptation Knowing full well the earth will rebel Into temptation Safe in the wide open arms of hell Chocolate Cake (about American excess) I saw Elvis Presley walk out of a 7-11 And a woman gave birth to a baby And then bowled 257 The excess of fat on your American bones Will cushion the impact as you sink like a stone Can I have another piece of chocolate cake? Tammy Baker, Tammy Baker Can I buy another cheap Picasso fake? Cheap Picasso, cheap Picasso fake Can I have another piece of chocolate cake? Kathy Straker, boy, could she lose some weight Can I buy another slice of real estate? Liberace must be laughing in his grave There Goes God What'll I tell him When he comes to me for absolution? Wouldn't you know it, hope I don't make a bad decision Cause I'd like to believe that there is a God Why sinful angels suffer for love I'd like to believe in the terrible truth, in the beautiful lie Hey, don't look now But there goes God In his sexy pants and his sausage dog And he can't stand Beelzebub Cause he looks so good in black

spjunkies
Upon the sand, upon the bay "There is a quick and easy way" you say Before you illustrate I'd rather state : "I'm not the man you think I am I'm not the man you think I am" And sorrow's native son He will not smile for anyone And pretty girls make graves Oh... End of the pier, end of the bay You tug my arm, and say : "give in to lust, Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll Soon be dust... " Oh, I'm not the man you think I am I'm not the man you think I am And sorrow's native son He will not rise for anyone And pretty girls make graves Oh really ? Oh... I could have been wild and I could have Been free But nature played this trick on me She wants it now And she will not wait But she's too rough And I'm too delicate Then, on the sand Another man, he takes her hand A smile lights up her stupid face (and well, it would) I lost my faith in womanhood I lost my faith in womanhood I lost my faith... Oh... Hand in glove... The sun shines out of our behinds... Oh...
thebluefood
Bruce Springsteen- Blinded By the Light.Go ahead, listen to Bruce's original version, a song about growing up and coming of age. Once you realize the genius of these lyrics, you'll hate Manfred Mann for the rest of your life, too. ~Bang Quoted for truth. I learned a few years ago that Springsteen penned the song and had his version on his debut album. It is, without a doubt, the superior version. Springsteen in general is a great song writer and he surrounds himself with excellent musicians. I'm not much of a lyrics guy, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but this song gets me every time. Here's the first verse and chorus: I bet ya you can't even see the sun Ah, the sun is shining Right before your eyes I bet ya you can't even see yourself 'Cause when you're lost Sometimes yourself is hard to find *I can see the sun in late December I see forgotten treasures 'neath the sea Tides that defeat identity Washing away the beauty that was in your mind ---------- Post added May-28th-2012 at 11:33 AM ---------- Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren Hello, It's me I've thought about us for a long, long time Maybe I think too much but something's wrong There's something here that doesn't last too long Maybe I shouldn't think of you as mine Great lyrics and a sick bass line. ---------- Post added May-28th-2012 at 11:34 AM ---------- Hard to leave out one of my City's favourite sons:Hail. Imagine, to me, is one of Lennon's more overrated songs. I'd rather not say why, lest we turn this into a big political debate (which this doesn't need to be), but I'm not too fond of it. Working Class Hero or Instant Karma, though? Genius.
